It's a trip me and my wife have been planning for over a year. Its a tournament in Seattle we've always wanted to watch together and it lasts and entire week.

We're also meeting our online friends for the first time who we talk to on a daily basis. There's no way we can leave early :(

Try do a early walk in at your local office asap. I know it's quite a way away but then it'll be done. If I were you I'd be down there monday

Jesus, I got a REALLY pissy tier 2 lady on the phone.

I told her the woman who transferred me to her said it would be fine to attend another service center at the same time.

She was like "WHO THE HELL TOLD YOU THAT?! DID U GET HER NAME? YOU NEED TO GO TO THE SERVICE CENTER THAT HAS YOUR JURISDICTION. IF YOU DO THAT YOU ARE VIOLATING THE RULES"

She went off on a rant and was really pissed. She said, you need to follow the instructions on the appointment notice and reschedule the appointment by sending it to the address on the letter.

Tldr; going to another service center is extremely bad and I can get in trouble for it...

I don't think you'd get in trouble for it, however they'd probably tell you that you can't do your biometrics there.

Unfortunately it looks like you'll have to do the two hour drive. Which sucks since biometrics takes literally 5 minutes.

    Hey All,

im noticing that a lot of people here had their case status switched shortly after biometrics to "ready to be scheduled for interview". Then it seems to stay that way for many months until either interview is waived or scheduled.

My last update was in October as "fingerprint fee received" and it hasn't changed since then. Biometrics were done, and EAD and AP got approved within the expected timeframe. Is it normal for the case status to stay at "fingerprint fee received" for almost 300 days?

    thanks!

Some people have become citizens and their online case status still says that. It's nothing to worry about. If you want to know more about your case status you could try calling the customer service line.

We had our interview today AT 7:15am at the Los Angeles Downtown location. We were sworn in and the officer asked me to verify some information. Fairly simple process. Afterwards he seperated my husband and I and asked us the same set of questions.

    - When did you meet?

    - Where was your first date?

    - When did you decide to get married?

    - How many people attended your civil wedding?

    - What kind of stove do you have?

So my spouse and I had answered most questions correct except for the stove question. I said gas and he said electric. The correct answer was gas but my husband wasn't aware because he does not do any cooking.

We currently live in my uncles house but there is a separate house behind his property, that is where my husband and I live temporarily. Most of the time we spend it in our separate house but will occasionally join the family for meals. That is why my husband was not too familiar with the stove.

After our interview the officer gave us a letter of continuance which states that our case is being held for review. The officer then told us we should receive a decision in the next few weeks.

I was a bit devastated because I believed our case would have a decision on the spot.

Do you think the stove question could be the reason he requires to further review?

Potentially but I think it's not too common to get approved on the spot. I think generally they take a couple of days before you'll get a decision since the officer will probably speak to their supervisor and so on.

Hello friends I have a question.. after the biometric is done it's gonna be interview right?? What if for those who doesn't require interview what's the next step?.. and how long after that to get green card?? Anyone out there got their green card without interview?? How long does it take to get GC and work permit?? Thank you

It could be months. I had my biometrics back in November. You could get RFEs. But if you're adjusting from K1 there's a lot of people who do not have an interview.

I have already filed service request on 7th july, 2017 but did not get any response yet.. I have also called customer care regarding that but they told me to wait for more 30 days. It is frustrating now.

Unfortunately there isn't much more you can do other than wait. I know how frustrating it is, I've had my interview cancelled twice and am still waiting. It'll get there eventually.

    I hope all goes well!

Ya same city. I was thinking of moving to cheaper appartment in couple of days so i wrote that address on ds160 but today i found another more cheaper appartment. So i will be moving there in 2-3 weeks.

You should be fine then. Make sure you go to the post office and forward all mail to your new address and let the uscis know of your address change.

The status of this service request is:

Due to workload factors not related to your case, USCIS anticipates a delay in completing your case.  USCIS is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in the order received and in a timely and efficient manner. We regret any inconvenience that results from delays in processing.

So this seems normal. I would just keep waiting. Wait 30-60 more days and file another service request. Hope it goes quickly!

Will there be any problem in my parents interview if i submit new form? They havent taken interview date

There shouldn't be. Did you move within the same city?

Hey guys thanks for the info on last post. I submitted ds160 for my mother and father and they havent scheduled any interview date. The problem is i have wrote that address to which i was supposed to move after few days coz m paying more rent on my current address. But today i got another appartment on more lesser cost so that m thinking on shifting there. Now what should i do with my mother father aplication. I cant edit also.

Can i re apply new one? Thanks in advance

You just need to submit another online change of address. You could also call the customer service line and perhaps request that they disregard the first one.

Thanks Jordan. Can you elaborate on "ties to your home country" Given I legally resided in the USA for the last 3 years, and my new job has me working 50% of the time internationally I am concerned that this may be tough to demonstrate. Thoughts?

I have got proof of Australian private health insurance, Australian drivers license, proof of electoral enrolment. Do you think that is sufficient?

That should be sufficient. I mean, honestly, my ties to home were just me verbally confirming I had a job to return to as well as a ticket to leave

    Dear VJ Community,

I am planning to visit the USA roughly 6 times over the next 12 months for less 4 weeks each trip using the visa waiver program/ESTA. Should I anticipate problems? Should I plan to apply for a B-2?

    A few facts:

    • Early 30's, Male, Caucasian, Australian Citizen.
    • Spent a lot time in the USA on L1, J1 and F1 visa's over the last 10 years. No visa over-stays. No criminal history, etc.
    • My intent is spend time with my girlfriend whom I met while on my L1 visa. That job assignment ended in June 2017. We are considering engagement and K-1 in the next 6-12 months
    • I continue to be employed as a professional by the same company. My current assignment has me working rotationally, spending 28 days at work in central asia, I then have the next 28 days off work.
    • I had no issues arriving on ESTA on my first time off.
    • I have documentation and evidence in my passport of my continued employment and plans to leave (e.g. flights back to work in central asia)

I am concerned that my planned multiple entries dont fit most tourists patterns. Equally, applying for a B1/B2 also opens myself up for explaining why I intend to visit the USA frequently, and concerns we may marry on the wrong visa type (which we obviously wont do).

Any thoughts would be helpful, thanks.

You should be fine. I came on the VWP around 11 times in a 3 year spell and they never questioned it once. You just have to be honest with them and bring proof of your employment and ties back to your country and you will be fine.

Did you file an AR-11 when you moved?  If not, you can file it online for free----it will formally update USCIS with your new address.

I'd also suggest scheduling an infopass.

I filed it the day we moved. They have our address. At the time of rescheduling the USCIS told our attorney they couldn't find our change of address form so they just rescheduled it at our old residence. However, I haven't received any confirmation of that being cancelled but the tier 2 officer did say that the interview itself wasn't on the system.. so I'm just confused and nervous!

I tried to book an infopass appointment but the Boston office was all out of appointments!

  15. So I moved and it screwed up my aos interview, it got rescheduled and rescheduled in the wrong state. My attoney contacted the office that scheduled it and gave them our address for forwarding the case. My attorney says the interview has been cancelled. I also called the USCIS and a tier 2 officer said that on his system the last action was the first interview being cancelled, there was nothing about this rescheduled interview. They also sent a service request to my local office to find out what's going on.

Anyway, tomorrow is the scheduled date for the allegedly cancelled interview that the USCIS customer service knew nothing about. I also never received a cancellation notice. Should I be concerned?

Sorry, I should say "joint bank account".

A joint bank account isn't required so it wouldn't be a red flag. If they thought you only open a bank account for immigration purposes, so like a week before and have 0 activity in the account, then it may go against you but since you have old account statements then you have zero worries on that part.
