I just talked to a representative from the store where i dropped it off and he said USCIS is on the package but it cuts off a business with "Bus".. most likely cause it ran out of space to type.

That should be no problem then! if you have a track and trace code, just keep an eye on your package. Good luck with your case!

I sent it maybe 4 hours ago? Is the end part a big deal you think?

From the address below, particularly the Suite 400, it looks like USCIS is situated in a building with other companies/organizations. If USCIS is not written anywhere on the package, there is a chance that the package might not be delivered, not necessarily lost. So i advise you to go to the FedEx office where you drop off your package and tell them about the address issue. It will keep your mind at peace for the next several days.

    USCIS
    Attn: I-129F
2501 South State Highway 121 Business

Hi all, so I just sent my I-129f packet using FedEx but I don't think the FedEx employee put "Attn: I-129F" on the mailing address or the entire address.. only the 2501 South State Highway, Lewisville, TX 75067. Do you think my packet will make it to USCIS? I'm a bit worried.

Oh i just noticed that part of the address is missing. When did you sent the package? Because you could just contact Fedex and explain to them that part of the address is missing. The sooner you contact them, the easier for them it will be to locate the package.

the "Attn: I-129F" is often written for convenience purposes for the receiver. Once USCIS receives and opens the package they will know that it is a I-129F petition. So do not worry!

really  I'm thinking about traveling after we got noa-1. Just wondering how much time will it take to obtain the green card (or advanced parol AP). Somebody knows in detail about AP? Time frames etc...

I do not posses the knowledge as some of the VJ members, but i want to share that NOA1 does not constitute to anything, unlike NOA2. I also recommend not to travel outside U.S. even with an AP, because re-entry is not guaranteed, especially since you were out of status while in the U.S. This could result in 3 or 10 year ban. it may sound extreme, but please be careful with what you do.

    Best of luck!

First, officially surrender her old green card (form I-407), then apply for a new one.

She should be prepared to explain the circumstances of the abandonment (dates, lack of payment of taxes since LPRs are required to file taxes, etc.) but shouldn't be an issue otherwise.

Thank you for your input. She never worked in U.S. due to her age 65+. was she still required to file taxes?

  7. Hi fellow VJ members,

I have a question regarding IR-1 petition after green card abandonment; concerning my grandparents, not me.

In 2009, both my grandfather and grandmother got their green cards via their son's (my uncle) petition and moved to U.S. However, in 2010, my grandmother went back to her homecountry (due to several personal reasons) and did not go back to U.S since. This is a clear abandonment of her green card/permanent resident.

Now my grandmother want to move back to U.S. and live with my grandfather, who is a U.S. citizen now. We are thinking of taking the IR-1 route since my grandfather is an U.S. citizen. However, since my grandmother abandoned her green card (without any official notification), we are worried that it might cause problems or even denial. We want to be fully prepared before we start the petition.

Is there a chance that her green card will be denied since she abandoned her previous green card? if you have any experience or tips regarding this, please feel free to share.

Please note that my grandfather visited my grandmother every year.

    Thank you very much.

Thank you both for giving me different perspectives and options to look into. To get back to the whole "hiding" thing, it was never my intention to hide it. To clarify a few things I was just curious to how this whole process has to go. I think that everyone can understand that a dream scenario would be to have a full-blow out wedding, that every couple deserves. With all her friends and family, and mine. Unfortunately that is not possible at this very moment yet, financially and logistically.

Both my parents know it is my intent to marry her, and I actually told her I was going to ask for her hand with her father before we would even file anything. I truly do want his blessing, I think this was taken out of proportion, or I might have worded it wrong, I was just looking into possible scenario's. You have all made very clear that this is something serious, which we both agree on. We are still willing to go through this all and I completely agree to not "hide" things, again, it was more for me to see what the possibilities were, cause it is indeed a pretty huge thing, especially for a fathers first born.

We both agreed that, even if we don't get his blessing, it won't stop our unconditional love for each other, and that this is something we both want.

I hope this clarifies this subject and that there are some more tips and/or information you guys having about my other concerns.

Some additional questions: (I know some are answerable by doing some research, just maybe some of these answer are different for my case)

    - How much money would be suggested for this whole process? Think about fee's, living without a job for a few months etc etc.
    - How can you best explain to a co-sponsor what he/she is signing for?
    - How much would the entire process take time-wise?
    - Would it be advised to get a lawyer?

    - Can someone explain the sponsoring in ELI5 form. It is very confusing for me right now.

    Thank you!

Leafsfan answered most of your questions. But since we both are from the Netherlands, here is my input.

    - How much money would be suggested for this whole process? Think about fee's, living without a job for a few months etc etc.

for K-1 visa, the fee for I-129F form is $535 (this can change, check official USCIS website before filing) and add another 250 euro on top for medical check, police report (VOG vraag je aan bij je gemeente) etc. Once you are in usa, you have to apply for adjustment of status, which costs 1250. so the K-1 route is going to costs you $2000 roughly on administration costs. Luckily for us in the Netherlands, the U.S. consulate is pretty centrally located (Amsterdam) and thus relatively close. Now you have find the other costs yourself, such as flight ticket, living costs in the city you want to live in etc.

    - How much would the entire process take time-wise?

Once K-1 petition is send, it takes 3 months for USCIS to approve (or deny). It takes another 4-6 weeks for Visa center, and then another 2 months for the U.S. consulate in Amsterdam to issue the visa. So all in, roughly 6 months if everything goes well.

If you decide on your route K-1 or CR-1. Please read the guides on VJ carefully. Do not hire a lawyer, it is really a waste of money, unless you have any criminal record or had issue with U.S. visa/entry before.

Thank you for your concerns. Having to wait for her to sponsor me would take another 2 years. (1 more year in college and then 1 year of work?) The field she is in gets will land you a job 90% of the time straight out of college. Would we have to wait for her to work a full calendar year or could you file like after her working for 2 months? As for me, I do have my degree but am currently enrolled in another school which I don't necessarily need to finish. If we'd really go through with all this we were thinking of starting the process like the end of this year? So I can get a job for the time being to create that buffer, since costs can be a burden like you stated.

Also, who would have to pay for the fee's and process? Will they look upon that as well?

As for the rest of the answer from you folks, thank you! I will come back later today to ask a few more questions to your replies, but have to get my day started now! lol

Why don't you take the CR-1 route? get married, start the CR-1 process, which takes 1-1.5 year. BUT, once you get your visa, you will be able to work in the states from day 1.

Hey girls and guys - greetings from Germany! :)

Am I the only German here, filing in March? :D

We've sent our i-129f to the PO box in TX on March 14th and are now patiently (him) and impatiently (me!!!!) waiting for the first baby step named NOA1.

Glad I found this forum and looking forward to share experiences with you!

I just saw in another post that someone forgot to write the name on the photo and realized: We forgot as well! Might this cause a RFE?

    Have a great day everyone!

If you have attached (e.g, paperclip) the photo to the correct G-325 form, you should not worry :)

When I check the processing timelines they were working on October 15th for the California Service Center (CSC)

I read there was a 45 day lag on the reporting though so maybe they are very close.

USCIS Processing Time Information for the
    California Service Center

    https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do

Based on VJ timeline, CSC is working on december cases. Not to cause any further stress, but doesn't your nationality have anything do to with it? since Iran is among the banned countries. Maybe you should contact a local office regarding that.

    hello guys

how much the fee payment for i129f package?

another question my fiance lives in california do we have to send the package to texas?

    thanks in advance

Filing fee for I-129F is $535. And yes, all I-129F applications should be send to Texas. From there it will be routed. But i highly recommend to read the guides on this website first before filing anything. at very least, read the instructions carefully on the official website of USCIS, which is https://www.uscis.gov/i-129f

I hope so!! If it's the same time frame as yours then I should be getting mine tomorrow, or maybe Monday.

The suspense is killing me! LOL

Funny how nerve wracking this process is. We count days to the receipt confirmation, while at least 5 months of wait is ahead of us. But hey, luckily we have each other here with the assurance that many others are in the same boat.

Congrats to everyone who has received their NOA-1! I'm still waiting on mine :( our packet and everything was sent 3/8 and have not received anything yet. No text no email nothing in the mail. And we did include the g-1145 to get electronic notification and definitely no error on there as I made sure to review that well! I'm worried on what could be taking so long as it's been two weeks and one day, and seems as if people who sent their stuff out after me have gotten their notifications already ??? any words of encouragement here ?! Lol. Thanks for reading my rant here ?

Where did you file? and by which carrier? did you have track and trace?

  16. Hi K-1 March filers friends!

Our petition was sent via USPS on march 13th, today we received a text message from USCIS that our case was received. However, when i enter the receipt number in https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus the following message appears:

"My Case Status does not recognize the receipt number entered. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283"

anyone else familiar with this issue?
