ARBIGRED1 got a reaction from Ywjammin30 in Hi, I live in the u.s. and I recently met A Jamaican man on Facebook....... I really really like him..... But I am not dumb so I would love some guidance please..... Thank you?
I don't know how old you are or if you got the answer you were looking for.  My husband is Jamaican and we moved fairly quickly but I would not recommend that for most women.  My Jamaican King warned me of the many tricks of Jamaican men.  We talked and video chatted for 4 months or more before I ever flew over to visit him I'm not sure where you are from but do not go and stay with him on his turf stay in a hotel.  Let the embassy know you are there and when u plan to leave so they can look for you if you don't board your flight home or family starts worrying.  Be prepared for your cell phone to not work and to need a Jamaican SIM card or an expensive roaming bill.  Read a lot about Jamaica and become familiar with the names of the Parish and major areas.  I went alone but I'm also 44 years old so I am not as naive as some.  After phone dating and Web chatting I was ready to see if this man was the one for me and he was.  My 2nd trip over was to marry him.  Jamaican's  struggle hard for their money and it will be hard on him to purchase this or that but don't be so quick to offer up money to help.  Make him prove he is willing to go a week without so you are comfortable if he's willing to sacrifice he probably worth your time. And example...for safety my husband had me fly in at montego bay instead of Kingston and he paid for a cab for a 2 hour drive.  When I landed he was already there waiting outside for me.  I never was left alone and all his friends and family treated me with complete respect.  I was already talking to his family before I ever went to Jamaica and had an idea of the people I was dealing with.

Congrats to you!  I wish you guys the best of luck...they ask my husband basic questions...just make sure he is ready...practice practice practice.  Tell him my husband said that part wasn't too difficult he just has to know you and your story.  We are under administrative review...have to do a 601 waiver for a misdemeanor charge from 16 years ago.  But he wasn't flat out denied and there is still light at the end of the tunnel.   Congrats and I'm happy for you both. If you need anything let me know.

Just wanted to update everyone here is where I started!.  My husband was approved for expedite processing due to my health.  In need of bi-lateral hip replacement.  As of last Friday NVC sent email notification that our case was being sent directly to US EMBASSY in JAMAICA and the Embassy will schedule his interview date once the documentation is received.   We had about 7 more weeks of waiting at NVC before the reviewed our case.  Praying he will be here by 1-2 week of August.  Don't give up and keep pushing forward.  Don't be afraid to make calls and ask questions.
Will keep everything updated as we move forward

Thank you so much!  Long journey.   I'm happy to hear so many getting case complete wonderful news.  We still originally had about 7 more weeks of waiting for NVC to review our file. So I was happy to see they moved us along.  Our 1 year anniversary is July 5th...we will miss celebrating together but I pray not much longer now.

Agreed. ..we won't be together on our 1 year wedding anniversary.   And I'm unable to travel to see him...so it's truly a hard time.  But my faith is stronger than all of this.  Eventually he will be with me always

Hang in there...it's a long journey.   My husband and I are back in the "waiting" realm also.  We begin this process September 15 2016 finally completed the nvc process now we wait for them to "review" our documents.   A wait up to 11 weeks.  So you may win the lottery on one section but the high doesn't last long. 😊 stay strong.

Congrats to you !  It's a long process.   My husband and I luckily were always on opposite ends of the spectrum. So when I was giving up hope he refused too and kept me positive and let me cry.  And when he was giving up hope I was positive and pushed him and told him not to give up.  Being each others support system and our faith got us through guys.

I totally agree.  Also when you visit, make sure that phone does not go off at night and ringer is on.  Also see how he treats you.  Does he bring you everywhere with him, and if he talks about money, explain that you are struggling yourself and that you don't have much money to pay your own bills. See if he sticks around and stops asking you. And when you go visit, make sure you are not paying for him his family and friends to eat and drink while you are there.
