  1. Does your local bank have a credit card?  I don't know how they handle new immigrants, but I would start with a major bank like Wells Fargo or Bank of America for a secured card.  For an unsecured card, to build credit, look at Capital One.  They also have secured cards..  Also, store cards from places like Walmart, Target, etc can help as well as gasoline cards.

  2. Are you suggesting the questions were inappropriate for a tourist visa?

Regarding the interviewer.  Did you get his name?  You can certainly send a letter of complaint about him.
Unfortunately, this is not Russia, where over 15000 tourist visas were granted last month, and where the odds of getting the same interviewer are quite a bit lower.
If it were me, I would complain about this interviewer and request a different one.

Most likely he's not married yet, so he falls in F1.

There's no such waiting time for children of USC. The current waiting time is 7 years if he's not married and around 12 if he is.

If under 21 and unmarried it would be IR-2 (immediate relative) and no wait other than the processing time (Maybe 1 year or more.)
If over 21 and unmarried, then F-1 and it would be whatever the wait  for that category would be  (7 years) plus the processing time through NVC.

It should be mentioned that for the non immediate categories there is a limit of 7 percent per country, (25,620 people for FY 2017) .

So, if you look at Mexico in that list, you will notice what looks like a backlog of over 50 years (over 1.3 million people)

I have a quick question to anybody that knows the answer. I am 62 years young and have met a 24 year old Morrocan woman via Facebook. We have chatted for 3 months and I intend to visit her in another 6 months. After that if everything goes well, I intend to file a K1 fiancée visa. My question: does age difference matter for acceptance for a k1 visa.  Much appreciated for your answers.

Given the location it will be subject to more scrutiny.   How did you meet someone on Facebook.  Did she just  randomly send you a message?
In any case, there is nothing more to be done here until you meet her in person, as you cannot file the petition until after you meet in person.

  5. 1. Report the arrest, provide all the documentation you can obtain on the arrest and outcome
    2. I think that would be ok, but I am not sure

    3. Temporarily living is residing.  I would include them

    4. Write it the language the postal service of that country would be likely to understand.

I agree, the question is a bit confusing.  They want the address in the local language of where the address is located, not his native language.

This thread is to discuss what potential changes the Trump administration may make in the future.  It is NOT to be used to discuss actual, already published policies and their impact on our members- we have a separate thread for that pinned in our Immigration News forum. This thread is for speculation of the future.

Please use ONLY this thread to discuss the Trump administration's future immigration policies, in order to keep our other forums free from such discussion and not cluttered with political talk.

Interesting post considering it looks like the country 1/2 of you is coming from is Ireland.   Considering Trump's mother is from Ireland, I think there is NO chance of Trump banning people from Ireland.  I also think countries without majority Muslim populations will also be spared by Trump.   On Muslim majority countries, I think this will depend on what happens with SCOTUS and Trump's previous bans.  If they reject them, then it is not likely Trump is going to be successful in banning people from any specific country, unless we are at war with that country.  As far as I know, we are not war with any specific country.

Wow, these responses are hard to read as I am in a similar situation and want my cousin to visit me for my wedding. It is sad that this is how the system has been affected now leaving families without a chance of seeing each other.

A large part of this is based on past experiences.  That is, experiences with previous people entering on tourist visas and not leaving

  8. What kind of petition?
What visa did he use to enter the US?

You indicated he needed to go to the US as an immigrant in 2008

You are bringing your son to visit his father in the US who seems to not be here legally, based on what you have said so far.
On your previous visa attempts did you indicated you had a BF and the father of your son living in the US?

It is a bit difficult for them to approve you to enter the US, especially due to his status.

"Yeah he changed his visa to working visa so he can stay legally"

Not logical.  If he has a visa permitting him to work, then he would be able to leave the country and return.

Once things get straightened out, if you have a bank account, you can generally open a 'secured' credit line with the bank. Maybe $300-500 or whatever with a deposit.  Doesn't seem like much but if you're just starting or trying to rebuild credit this might be the way to go.

Citibank offers $200-$2000, at least in an offer I got in the mail in FL

  10. Do NOT attempt to hide what happened, whether you think it has been recorded or not.
It's kind of like car insurance and traffic tickets.

The record the insurance company gets might not show a speeding ticket if you went to traffic school to clear the points.
However, that doesn't mean the REAL information cannot be produced by DMV
Gather all of the documentation on the charges, sentence, expungement, etc

No.  Not with living parents.  Immigration doesn't play that way

What?  Living parents is not a bar to  adoption as long as the parents agree to it.
My question was more related to adopting a sibling. I have never researched that.
I know you can adopt a child that has living parents.

Do you have some real knowledge that adoption would prevent him from sponsoring her?
