yes ^_^, marrying here in the US is definitely much easier and here we have a better system to assist us here in the US so i know that things will get done right and if not there is always someone you can go to for help and things will get resolved unlike aboard, I just hear horrible experiences.
I know. It's not just the fact it's taken long I'm starting to get worried to get refused after hearing about some cases here. It seems like they are making it hard to bring someone here. Yeah I understand they want to make sure the relationship is real but why does it have to take that long. In our case he wasn't really convinced the time we have been talking and the fact that I went to Egypt and met once and then got engaged is not enough but that's normal for our culture and I'm sure they understand that.

omg, this is what i think about all the time while i was being questioned by the CO, i am from america, what makes me think i will marry there if i didnt have to and had options? It is common sense that obviously i came and visit and went back to america, i have options to either do a k1 visa or go there to married and then come back again here to file a spousal visa? which will i do? common sense, if i qualify which i do i did the k1 visa. it was hard alone trying to communicate and ask for directions to get around cairo or anywhere else in egypt because of language barriers, of course i looked at what i needed to do in order to marry in egypt just in case i had to because my fiance and i are serious about our relationship. i am not even sure if it will be possible for me to marry in egypt since the process starts the other way around at the US Embassy going to the Egyptian government back to the US Embassy now that sounds like hell lol. since we are not married, i couldn't see why i can't file a k1 visa, but now that you say even family registry was issued only under men this is even sad, does that mean she had to go ask him for the family registry or could she herself get one without her since she was a part of that family registry? I guess the embassy just want to make real good sure, but still doesn't explain a very very long wait -_-"
I'm sorry I'm a little confused, are you the petitioner the woman and live in the US and your fiancé the man lives in egypt?

we had it in june too, we were place in ap because they needed my fiance's family registry which was nothing that was told to us that we needed to bring, but whatever, we did so we will see you r right everyone's case is different you say yourself u r an egyptian man whose fiance in america is petitioning for u to come to america too correct?
No it's the other way around, I'm the man an American citizen live in the US and she is in Egypt and even though she is a female he asked for the family registration which is kind of weird and when she asked why he needs it she was told to know her marital status because she is divorced 16 years ago even though we submitted the divorce certificate with the petition and she took a copy with her to the interview. When she went to do the family registration she was told they don't issue it under females names so we had to do it under her ex husband name and it shows when they got married and when they got divorced so I hope that won't be another problem and it's what he asked for.

Keep emailing them Yasser! We tried calling and werent able to speak to someone directly at the embassy (it was some call center but in Egypt). I see that most of those who are on AP have primarily used email as a way to get in touch with the consulate staff regarding their case.
I do but I receive the same response. I think it's a generic message and the staff just copy and paste. Even when I ask questions they still respond with the same message. how long have you been on AP?

It was the same day of my interview, he asked me the same questions! Window 14
He kept everything with him, he didn't ask me for more evidences. Just the medical exam cause they told me to go to the interview and then submit it by Aramex!
They got it on June 18th then the AP started.
For you guys you should call cause you have been on AP for more than 60 days , keep calling and sending emails or your case wilk be on the shelf for A LONG TIME!!
oh really so you might of seen my fiance there. so do you think your case was sent back because he is not convinced of the relationship? I do I try to e-mail once every week or 2 weeks but I get the same response. now I'm not sure if we going to hear something soon since you were put on AP almost the same time as us.
-
Also how did you find out the case was sent back? I'm so sorry I know you might not want to talk about this.

I'm sorry again. are you the petitioner? my fiance had her interview on June 7th, I'm the petitioner (male). we met through my best friend's wife and we talked for 3 month and I went to Egypt on September and we got engaged and submitted the petition on 11/16/16, the CO asked her how we met and she told him the story and he kept asking her is that enough time and she kept saying for us it is, we provided engagement photos and he asked her why we didn't have a big party then he gave her the passport back and a white paper states he needs a family registration and evidence of communications "which is my fault for not telling her we need it" but he kept everything else. they received both on June 12 and since then we still waiting and status still shows AP. we are getting very worried at this point.

I'm so sorry to hear that, how long have you been on AP? did they provide the reason why it was sent back if you don't mind sharing?

Thanks,
Yasser

no , we didn't get the visa yet , and contacting the embassy seems useless
Hello,
yes I know. How long have you been on AP?
-
I'm sorry for what you going through I can imagine how frustrated you are. good luck and please let us know when you get the visa.
Thank you.
Yasser

what do they say when you contact them?
-
did you send them your passport? have you tried to contact them? something doesn't make sense. did @E.Amr get the visa?
-
so if you guys got approved 4 moth ago that means they got back and reviewed your case so whats taken 5 months to issue the visa?

AP is a low priority at embassy level (or any level really). You can expect them to look at your case after 2~4 months to either make a decision or to keep it in AP.
Male or female, that didn't used to be the case, it was random at first for males only. Today, expect it to happen to females too.
Like I said, K1 is now automatically redflagged and they decrease work load by creating a small backlog, by queuing cases for 2+ months time. Current cases take higher priority.
So being approved at the interview was the only guarantee not to go through all of this.
yeah I know and that's the frustrating part. do you know anyone from here that was approved within 4 months after was put on AP?
-
that's the thing, according to my fiance the CO didn't say anything, he gave her the passport back and handed her a paper with the requested documents checked and that's it. please see below attachment. I don't think the reason of the AP is for security check, I don't have a criminal record here in the US and she doesn't have any problems in Egypt so I don't know if it's taken that long just to review the additional requested documents.
-
so after 5 month they notified you that you are approved? did they have your passport or did you send it after you were approved?
-
that is crazy I mean at what point you can do something to get any formation?. do you know why your case is under AP? for us the CO asked for Viber communications and family registration for my fiance which is weird for a female and they confirmed they received them on 6/12/17.
-
oh okay. thank you.
how is your case going?
-
but our case is a K1 visa not DV.
K1 Visa Cairo AP Status now
in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports

Lol it depends on the contry. We met through my best friends wife which her best friend we started talking back in June of last year we talked every day through chats, phone calls and video calls and we clicked and then I decided to go end of September to meet and we both decided we will get engaged and we did. We had a little gathering at her house from both families and we did the engagement. When he asked her how we met she told him and he kept asking her you think this enough and she kept smiling and says yes for us it is and then when she showed him the engagement pictures he asked her why didn't you have a big party??.
i contacted my congressman office today explained my case and they sent me some form to fill out and said they will submit an inquiry to the embassy so will see what happens.
