GC holders who have been in the country for decades being detained for hours with no explanation is not OK. I mean, it's legal, sure. But it's not how America used to be. We've decided to move away from being a country of immigrants to a country of suspicion and hatred, and its VERY obvious to anyone who has done a border crossing recently.
 
And we don't need additional screening, there is no actual problem being solved here.

I believe this to be true also....my fiance says jokingly that El-Sisi and Trump are so similar.  I agree, we just need to keep looking ahead, proceed with our petitions and think positive........try not to think about what negatives might happen.  

Egyptian Muslim men or Muslim men from MENA (Middle Eastern North African) countries already get vetted  with long AP and security background checks). Some Egyptian men do not stay on AP very long, some have only taken days/weeks to receive their Visa after being approved at their interview, while other's have taken months. There isn't any way of truly knowing how long it takes, but usually from what I've seen K1-Visas take less time to process and as well as less time through AP.
 
I think that you should continue and go through the process. As of now it's only rumor, I have not read anything official that Egypt will be placed on the banned list. I'm currently going through the IR-1 process for my Egyptian husband (we're at the NVC stage), I too am worried, but their isn't much we can really do at this point except to proceed. I have family in the US that have been waiting for my return, so trust me when I say that I am very much concerned about the possibility of Egypt being placed on the banned list later.
 
I don't know why, but I still have the feeling it may not happen as Egypt and the US have worked for many years on counter-terrorism operations, work together on protecting the boarder with Israel, and every year have joint military training. President El-Sisi is a very big fan of President Trump, and from what the media here in Egypt says, their relationship is quite rock solid. So... with that being said... we still don't know, it's 50/50 at the moment.

Thanks for sharing your conversation with NVC, Amy, i really hope that information stays true for all of us!  I feel bad for anyone applying from one of the banned countries, though.  All the best for you both.

So here are things you need to be aware of and take into serious consideration-
1. The countries on the ban list can change at the will of Trump and his cronies
2. Although you are a green card holder you will probably encounter secondary screening on your return to the US and that looks like being detained, possibly handcuffed, denied food, water and access to a bathroom for hours, being asked to unlock your computer and phone for the USCIS staff to gather information on your family, friends and community and being pressured to sign a I 407 to give up your green card - while be interrogated about your political, religious and other beliefs.
3. CAIR Director for Florida who is also a lawyer - Hassan Shibly in his facebook live video recommends Green Card holders NOT leaving the US at this time until this ban is stopped completely or it stays in place.
DHS officials have confirmed that the ban is being used to impose exile on LAWFUL PERMANENT RESIDENTS (i.e., green card holders).
My husband is also Moroccan and a green card holder like you and we are not taking any chances with returning to visit family and friends in Morocco even though we desire to do so whole heartedly.

My sincerest regrets go out to you for having had such a traumatizing experience.  It is unfair.  It is wrong.  Be happy you have your passport in hand. My husband's passport is stuck at the embassy, visa issued, only to collect dust as it expires or to be cancelled.  Waiting 90 days seems like an eternity, especially when you stop and think that logically, we aren't even being promised anything once those 90 days are up.  Hold tight to your passport.  
 
One member mentioned that coming to the US is a privilege, not a right.  I'd like to point out that we are all humans and humans don't have the privilege to choose where they are born.  Some Americans, however, seem to believe that a person should be held accountable for such a meaningless detail as place of birth.  We waited in line, filed our paperwork, paid our fees, attended our interviews, submitted to all of the same background checks as anyone else.  Don't remind us that to enter is a privilege; we see that it is a privilege being denied on an unconstitutional basis.
 
I've written my senators and local representative, but I am not optimistic. 

I feel that Trump is just flexing his muscles and showing off, especially to his people and the media that I did what I promised during my campaign. But he is only flexing his muscles on the weak ones, can he flex his muscles on Russia? I dont think so, just like he flexed his muscles before on Cuba, seriously, Cuba? The country that probably can't feed its citizens. Anyway, what I believe is that this thing wont last, the only thing he cant get away with is the Syrian refugees ban. Also a ban on GC holders? I dont think so, one of the LPR is that you have the right to live and work in the USA, untill this law changes, nothing much can be done. The reason he signed this on a Friday has also a purpose, he wants most of his people to see it on the media during the weekends. Next week things will be different, hopefully.

what a waste of time and manpower at the airports.....they're already legally allowed to be here but at least they're getting in as they should be.

This is worse than a movie plot..

He is also giving priority to ppl from these countries that are christian... yet, it's claimed that it's not discrimination based on faith..

When I saw the scenes from outside JFK, I actually started crying... I would expect such demonstrations in the 1940's not in 2017..  and his cheerleader sees no fault...
