  1. Hi, everyone!

The I-130 form asks that a document be uploaded with the beneficiary's name and foreign address if their native language does not use Roman letters. The form doesn't specify what type of document I need to upload -- should it be a formal/official document (e.g., an electricity bill, etc) or do can I just write the name and address myself using the non-Roman letters and upload that?

Thanks in advance for everyone's help! 😃

  2. Hi @SalishSea and @Mike E!

I apologize for the delay in responding back. Thank you both for your help!

@Mike E Just to ask a few more clarifying questions: Will the temporary green card be valid for entry and exit, just like a regular green card? How long can they use this card for? And what process will we have to initiate in order for them to have a permanent green card?

@SalishSea Yes, they do want to stay :)

    Thank you both again!!

  3. Hi, everyone! 😊

My husband and I have started to fill out I-130 forms for his parents, who currently live in Iran. We are both U.S. citizens.

His parents asked us today if, once their visa is granted to travel to the U.S., they would have to remain in the U.S. while their adjustment of status for a green card is being processed. I wasn't sure what the correct answer would be, so I thought I'd ask the community here for some guidance.

Thanks so much in advance for your help!!

have you called USCIS to see how your status is since the interview? check the tracker online? ....

i would not ming betting the IO will locate the form he needs then approve your case...... a friend of mine had a horrible time at interview... he is Nigerian, they split him and his wife up asked hundreds of questions for 2 hours.....

ultimately at the end of the interview they requested more utility bills, he only took his lease and electric bill initially.... he provided that for them, two weeks later his status changed to approved, two weeks after that he received green card..... dont panic

    Thanks for your reply :)

Yes, I already called USCIS and checked the online tracker. No updates yet...

  5. Hi, everyone!

My husband had the AOS interview last week. The interview itself went well enough. The IO barely asked us any questions about our relationship and spent most of the interview going through those standard questions ("will you conspire to commit crimes", "will you engage in prostitution", etc). Towards the end of the interview, the IO asked us if we filed for the EAD and AOS simultaneously (which we did). He then said that he could not make a decision about his case because he is waiting for a form related to my husband's EAD to arrive from their office in Missouri. When I expressed my confusion about this since my husband has had his EAD since March, the IO again stated that we have to wait for this form to come and that a final decision cannot be made without it.

I've read through a lot of interview experiences on this forum, and I have yet to come across a story similar to ours. Can anyone offer some insight into this form? Should we be worried? Thank you all in advance for your help! :)

  6. Just wanted to share my recent interview experience. I, too, was very worried about finding an interpreter for my husband. Thankfully, we managed to find one last minute. When we arrived for the appointment, they told us that we might not be able to use the interpreter because they offer interpreter services themselves, and that we had to call to schedule one 2 weeks prior to the day of the interview appointment. I was rather surprised by this because no matter where I researched about the use of interpreters for interviews, I couldn't find anything to suggest we can't bring our own. 😕

  7. Hi, everyone!

Hope you are all well. Today, my husband received his interview notification in the mail. We're starting to gather our materials in anticipation of the interview date. I know that my husband is required to bring his birth certificate, but am I also required to bring mine? My birth certificate is currently in another state at my parents' house. Will my passport and/or certificate of citizenship suffice?

Thank you all in advance for your help! :)

  8. Hi everyone!

Yesterday my husband and I called the USCIS customer service line to inquire about the status of his pending green card. The person we spoke to informed us that his case is still with the National Benefits Center and has not yet arrived at the New York - Queen's Field Office. It's been 251 days since the last update online for his case (which was a notification confirming their acquirement of our RFIE response), but we were told he is still within normal processing times. What I'm not understanding is why his case is considered to fall within normal processing times if it hasn't even reached the field office yet...Doesn't the processing time begin once the case arrives in the field office (that's what the agent confirmed yesterday as well)? I should also mention that when we called about 2 months ago, the agent we spoke to said that his case IS actually in the Queens Field Office

Any clarifications/tips/reassurance will be greatly appreciated!! ^_^ Thanks in advance for your help!

I am not surprised at all that USCIS has lost paperwork you clearly and most definately already submitted. We got an RFIE for our marriage certificate. Are you kidding me? That is like #1 important piece of paper you’re submitting when you’re a K1! USCIS continues to astound me with their inefficiency.

All you can do is curse them silently and resubmit all these things you already sent. Sucks! I emphathize.

Wow, RIE on a marriage certificate?! Yikes... Thanks for your input!

it is almost getting normal now for USCIS to ask for documents already sent

seems they are bombarded with paperwork and things are getting separted and lost

when u send in the new documents, put the case #, both names and both DOB's in upper right hand corner of each and everyone

be sure to include the cover page with bar code

and send in one mailing / u take a chance that all will get to the right place if not sent at same time

seems what you sent was adequate just resubmit

write a cover letter about the income as it is only for 6 months

Thank you so much for your help! I'll be sure to add the case number, names, etc. to the corner of each document as you suggested. Here's hoping all goes well this time!

  11. Hello, everyone! :)

I have a question about a Request for Initial Evidence letter we received yesterday. We are filing for an adjustment of status (I-485) for my husband, who immigrated to the U.S. with a K-1 visa. All of the requested documentation in the RIE letter was provided during our initial filing, so I am not really sure how to proceed from here. The letter stated that we needed to provide the following:

    1. A copy of my husband's birth certificate with a certified translation: a copy of my husband's Iranian birth certificate containing city of birth, his parents' names and their cities of birth, and the copy of the certified English translation (sealed and stamped) had all been sent.

    2. Supporting tax documentation: I submitted a tax transcript for 2016, based on recommendations to use this instead of a tax return. I still included a copy of my W-2. I also explained that I had not filed taxes in 2015 and 2014, since I was a full time student (I am now a part time student). I also provided a copy of From 1098E from 2015 that my school had sent to me, as proof of being a student.

    3. Evidence of assets to prove we meet 125% of the poverty guidelines: Since I had only been employed for 6 months when I filed my 2016 taxes, my total income did not meet the poverty guidelines. However, I provided 6 months worth of pay stubs as well as a letter for my employer confirming my salary (which DOES meet the poverty guidelines). I also included a letter from my bank that reflected my account balance over a 12 month period.

Any guidance and suggestions will be greatly appreciated! ^_^ Thank you in advance for your help!!

How did everything work out for you? Any advice after you get the case number?

My fiance got approved for his visa, thank God :)

After we received the case number, a few days later I received an email from the embassy in Abu Dhabi with instructions on how to schedule the interview using the case number, complete the DS-160 form, etc. It was pretty straightforward.

    Good luck to you!

Update: I recommend you print out the Iran Reciprocity Schedule from travel.state.gov when you send in your shenasnameh with translation. Here is the RFIE we got. The USCIS agent at our InfoPass appointment said what we originally sent was fine, but whoever saw our application wasn't familiar with their own rules...

Hi lyra! We've chosen Abu Dhabi for our interview, and we are worried about that too. I've heard most of Iranian go through administrative proccessing specially those who have a job (governmental job)!! But it happens by chance! So stay positive and hope for the best!

And i have a question from you, when is ur interview date? Your timeline helps me a lot because we are one month after u. And i will appreciate ur help if u write ur fiance's experience on the interview later 😊

BTW there is a channel in telegram that people write their interview experiences, i can give it to u, if u like

    Hi there Farnaz!

Thank you for your reply :) Our interview is scheduled for May 16. I will definitely share his experience with you all!

After NOA2, we waited a few weeks and then I called the NVC to obtain our case number. When I called, they said that our file had already been mailed to the embassy. I used our case number to then check on its status, and saw that it was labeled as "ready for interview". A few days later, I received an email from the embassy with several attachments that included instructions on how to schedule the interview date via their scheduling website, directions to complete the DS-160 form online, and a list of items that need to be brought to the interview.

Yes, I would love to join the telegram channel. Thank you for letting me know about it!! Best of luck to you :)
