Why can’t you leave your county? There aren’t any internal US bans (other than 14 day quarantines) that I’m aware of.. I’m unsure if a new extension letter is sent as typically you would receive a stamp in an unexpired passport. Have you tried calling USCIS: what was their response? Word to the wise; never let a passport expire if you are an immigrant. It should be renewed within 6 months of expiration.

Sadly I got into some serious legal trouble so I can’t leave my county. I am still in the US tho. I have never left since I got here.

What is the number of USCIS? So I could call them😳

Your status remains as it is, it is only your proof of status that expires.

    No.

You do not need a passport to get a stamp - which makes sense given there is no requirement to maintain a valid foreign passport as a permanent resident.

They can place it on something else, most commonly on an I-94.

*This is assuming you are currently in the US - if you are out of the US, an I-551 stamp cannot be issued from outside the country, so you had best get back to the US before expiry of your current extension letter.

Ahhh okay!! Thank you :) and yes I am still here in the US. Never left🙏🏼
I was just freaking out because my passport is expired and I was scared to be seen as an illegal resident once the extension letter expires. That’s the last thing I want and need right now💯

  2. Hey!
So as of right now, USCIS is still working on my application. I received an RFE and sent the evidence like 2 weeks later.
Anyways, my extension letter is going to expire in October. What is going to happen if USCIS hasn’t made a decision on my application by then? Will they send me a new extension letter?

my passport is expired and I can’t go to an embassy to renew it atm cause I’m currently not able to leave my county. What am I going to do since I can’t get the stamp in my passport? :(

My wife successfully surrendered her Taiwan drivers license in exchange for a Texas drivers license this morning.  The certified translation was accepted.  She received a 6 year Texas drivers license.  This is the translation company we used.

We just, today,  received a translation of my wife's Taiwanese DL, because she is going to surrender her license here in Texas, too.  We hired a company here in Plano to translate it.  We had it done online by a Florida company, but the Texas DPS rejected it.

I'll know tomorrow if this translation is accepted.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know how it went! Thank you!

This doesn't make any sense. Your German DL has no legal value in the U.S. No need to "surrender" a non-U.S. DL. You need to take the written and driving test in Texas. Don't mention your German DL. My wife was never asked about her foreign DL because it is basically useless in the U.S. But if you want to find translator, I suggest finding a university and asking the foreign language department about a translator.

No Sir, I sure can surrender my German DL in Texas to avoid the tests. All I need is a translation. https://www.dps.texas.gov/DriverLicense/movingtotexas.htm

Thanks! I'll give it a shot!

  6. Hey guys!

I had a quick question. We went to the DL office yesterday to get my driver's license.

Unfortunately I was unable to get it since my german driver's license needs to be translated in english in order for me to be able to surrender it in the state of Texas.

I wanted to ask if any of you know how and where I can get my German driver's license translated? We live in South Texas.

    Thank you!

  7. Hey!

As said before, you dont need to worry. Everything will be fine.

I'm German and I've only had a hard time once entering the US with ESTA. But it was all attitude from the officer. It was a Black lady and she seemed like she didn't have such a great day. But in the end she allowed me to enter so it turned out fine. The other 2 officers I met were super nice and they were just talking to me about shooter games cause I met my now wife online playing black ops on ps3.

I've stayed twice for 3 Months and one time for 2 weeks (at her house) without any ties to home except my phone contract. They've asked me once how much money I have in my card but they didn't want to see any proof whatsoever. Of course it varies what they want to see and what not but as long as you answer their questions truthfully ur gonna be fine.

Also, take all the advice from above serious and take everything with you for just in case especially if you're unsure. Even if you dont need it, better safe than sorry!

PS: All I had to enter was my passport, my ticket, the ESTA document which I printed out for just in case and $100 cash.

Hi! How did your interview go!!?? I have mine coming up soon and I'm very nervous and confused about if we have to bring ANOTHER employment letter, payslips and tax returns when we just submitted it. Did you bring them and did they ask for them? I'm also confused about the part on the letter where it says 'original and copy of each supporting document that you submitted with your application' what did you make of this?

Any help would be so greatly appreciated, I'm so nervous! eeeek

Hey! My interview went very well :) I got approved on the spot :)

When did you submit the paystubs etc.?

We took my wife's and joint sponsors paystubs from the past 2 months, both original tax returns from 2016, and a copy of my wifes employment letter since we submitted the original when we filed. But they didn't ask us for it. She just asked my wife if she is still working as a Teacher and she just let it go after my wife said yes. She did also only take the copy of our joint tax return.

If I was you, I would definitely take the paystubs and tax returns with me. It depends on the IO..some want to see it and some don't. So its always best to be on the safe side and bring everything thats asked for on the interview letter.

When it comes to 'Original and copy of each supporting document that you submitted with your application. Otherwise, we may keep your originals for our records.', we only took the originals and copies of everything we sent with our application..such as birth certificates, marriage certificate, passports...etc. But she only made a copy of our marriage certificate even tho we had a certified copy. I saw her looking at the envelope multiple times but not once did she take it or say anything..I guess she preferred to make her own copy.

I hope this helps and if you have more questions feel free to ask :)

And don't be nervous :) Everything will be fine :)

  9. Guyyyzzzz!!!

We got approved on the spot about 5mins ago!!

    Yaaaaay!!!!

The interview was very easy! We got a lady and at first we thought oh god but it turned out that she was a married Lesbian officer which was very good for us! She seemed to enjoy our case very much! She didn't want to see that much evidence at all. She only took our joint tax return and bank account and that was it.

I want to thank you guys for helping us out! You guys are the bomb!

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting on their approval, interview, etc! You can do this! Just have faith and believe in yourself!

Thank you guys once again and all the luck in this world to all of you!

The withholding on the paystub means nothing. It just determines how much withholding comes out of your paycheck. For instance, my parents are married, and due to their necessity for withholding, both are marked as "single" on their paystubs. I don't think this would affect the interview at all. Being marked as single just means they withhold more. It evens itself out when you file your tax returns. So it really doesn't matter.

Puuuh!! Thank you! That calms me down a lot!

I guess I'm just too worried about everything

    Have a good one!

I think you will need to prove more evidences about "bona fida" marriage.

Well we have a bunch of pictures of us, with our puppy, her family and my family, we have a Joint bank account (she made her personal bank account as our joint account), we have a phone plan together, proof that we live together at her parents house and we also filed her taxes jointly.

She also changed her name on her DL and social security.

It just really sucks about the pay stubs! They didn't even change her name! Its really harsh and nerve-wracking. If one thing goes well there is always something that takes away the excitement! I'm super anxious and worried now!
