You're welcome, sounds like you have everything you need. The pay stubs can be accessed online and printed, I'm sure they'll be able to do that for your sister-in-law at her job. I don't know what happens if a sponsor's income changes though, but yes as long as it goes above the 125% line it's fine.

Best of luck to you and let us know how it goes! ?

Yup we kinda do :) Finally!

Okay thats awesome!! But umm for just in case I'm not going to be able to get her pay stubs..would it also be okay to show her account statements to show the amount she got paid the past 2 months?

I was actually hoping it would be enough to show them her 2016 tax return and her W2's so they can see her yearly income is still the same..well it actually got higher :P

    I see, thank you!

Thank you very much! We're gonna need it big time! I will definitely let you guys know!:)

Yes you should take all the documents you submitted, originals and copies, just to be prepared. My lawyer advised to take employment letters OR pay stubs from the last two months to show that the income is still current, so take whichever one you can get. Did you make copies of the entire package you sent? Take that with you. I know you already submitted everything they asked for but they will want to see the originals.

Documents establishing your eligibility means your marriage certificate, passport, and proof of your legal entry into the country (passport stamp and/or I-94), and yes you can print your I-94 online, make sure you print a couple or make a copy of it so you can keep one (my IO kept my original). It's also important to take ALL original birth certificates, of you, your wife, and your sponsors, they will want to see them, and the translations of it if one is not in English. If you have the original tax returns take them. They may not want to keep any original documents but they want to see them, and think about it, it's better to be prepared and have the documents ready to show them instead of telling them you didn't bring them with you, which might cause them to not approve you on the spot so they can wait for you to submit what they initially wanted to see. So in short, YES take all original documents of what you initially submitted. And don't forget about photos! :)

Thank you for your answer! :)

Okay awesome? I will definitely take the originals as well as copies for just in case they are going to keep certain things.

I talked to my sister-in-law today and she said that she gets monthly direct deposits so she doesn't get any paper pay stubs. But she said she is going to ask and find out. For the employment letter its already too late cause she is working in a huge school district and they are super busy with the staar tests right now. I hope I can at least get her pay stubs before the interview cause I don't really want to get an RFE..but if I do, the blame is on me cause I could have been taking care of all this when I first got the interview letter ?

What would actually happen if the income of one of the sponsors changes a little? Does it only matter to them that they are over the 125% mark? It's not relevant for my case but I was just wondering about that.

Ahh okay I understand now :) Thank you!

I will gather all of that and organize it properly to make it easy for the IO.

Today my wife added me to her checking and savings account so we have a joint bank account now :) We were also able to file her taxes jointly. The only thing thats left to do now is taking my mother-in-laws letter (to proof that we live in her house) to a notary so we can get it notarized.

After that we should be all set.

Thank you so much for helping!! :)

  3. Hey guys.

It's a little more than 1 week to go until our interview so we are trying to get everything ready.

    But I have some questions.

On the interview letter it says that we have to submit evidence for the I-864 form for each of my sponsors (unless already submitted). One of the things they are asking for is letters from each current employer to verify the pay rate etc. For my wife we already included it when we filed. So we dont have to submit another one, right? Is it absolutely necessary for my co-sponsor to get an employment letter? We actually just needed the co-sponsor cause my wife couldn't show tax returns from the last 3 years.

And they also want evidence of my sponsors and co-sponsors citizenship. We already submitted a copy of my co-sponsors birth certificate..we got an RFIE for that. Do we have to take another copy or do we have to show the original at the interview?

And do the tax returns from 2016 have to be the originals or can we just make copies of all pages and take them instead of the originals?

Do we also have to show pay stubs for the past 2 months from my co-sponsor?

Then they are asking for all documentation establishing my eligibility for lawful permanent resident status. What does that mean? I dont know what we have to show for this?

And for the I-94 I can just go online to the website and print it out, right? Cause I dont have one yet.

Thank you very much in advance!

Congrats to everyone getting their EADs, interviews, and cases approved recently   and good luck to everyone still waiting! Hang in there. ?

    Congratulations!!! Thats awesome!! :dancing:

  5. Hey guys!

    I have an important question.

Tomorrow at 1pm my wife and I are going to file our taxes jointly.

She says she wants me to put as a dependent.

Can she do that? Cause I think she can't since she's my sponsor and shes suppose to pay for me either way. And we also have a co-sponsor.

I hope someone can help us out cause we don't want to do anything wrong in the tax return since USCIS is pretty strict.

    Thank you guys!

I assume you live in Texas and you are from Germany, then you don't need to take the exam:

    https://www.dps.texas.gov/DriverLicense/movingtotexas.htm

"Applicants who have a valid, unexpired driver license from another U.S. state, U.S. territory, or from Canada must surrender their out of state/country driver license and are not required to take the knowledge or skills exams. Texas also has license issuance reciprocity with France, Germany, South Korea, and Taiwan only. Applicants who have a valid, unexpired driver license from one of these countries are not required to take the knowledge or skills exams if they surrender their out of country driver license. However, if the applicant does not wish to surrender their out of country driver license, they must take and pass all required exams. The reciprocity only applies to passenger vehicles, not commercial vehicles or motorcycles.  Foreign licenses not in English or Spanish will need to have a translation service or their consulate translate the information on the driver license prior to arriving. This translation requirement also applies for marriage licenses."

    Awesome!! Thank you very much!

Even tho im kinda thinking now if I should take the exams..cause in Germany DL's do not expire at all. They're valid for your entire life.

A little less than 18 hours until our AOS interview tomorrow morning... so nervous yet so excited!

Good luck!! Let us know how the interview went!

    Edit:

Quick question guys. Do you have to do the DL test even if you already have a DL in another country? :P

And would it be best to get the DL before the AOS interview? I got my SSN yesterday and was wondering about that.

  8. Hello!

I know this thread is pretty old but I got a question. Me and my wife got married spontaneously during my visit and we live in south texas 30mins away from the Mexican border.

I had my medical done around November and when the doctor asked me if I have ever used weed I said yes I have but I do not do it anymore cause I didn't like it at all (I did it about 1-2weeks before the medical..which I regret big time!!!!). After that she wrote something down and just continued with her other questions.

Do they do a drug test on my blood and urine that I had to give them?

She didn't mention anything about a drug test. She also did not send me to a psychiatrist. And when I went to pick up my medical 3 days after they told me that everything came out good.

Right now me and my wife are freaking out cause we read about the whole 1 year ban thing yesterday even if you did it a long time ago.

We have our interview on April 4th. Do we have something to be concerned about? And if I get a 1 year ban, would I still be able to stay here or do I have to go back home? :(

I'd say do everything you can to get as many shared bills or accounts as possible. If you guys have been living together for a long time they may ask you why you don't have bills together, especially if you both work. But if you have legit reasons/explanations as to why you don't, then you'll be fine. Definitely get a joint bank account, and you being on her personal account is a good idea too. The phone bill is good too. I'm sure they'll understand if you guys are living with her parents, just be prepared to answer questions regarding the reasons and how the living situation is on a daily basis and how the process of you guys moving in together went. If you guys have a sponsor you'll likely be fine.

    Thanks for your answer!

Yes, we will definitely do our best to get as much as possible. Thats fine if they would ask that question..im not working right now cause I got my EAD about 1 week ago and im still waiting for Social Security. I'm not even sure if im gonna be working until we have the interview:/

Thank you so much..im a bit more calm about the whole house thing now. I was literally freaking out lol

Yuup we do have a joint sponsor which is her sister and she also lives in her parents house.

I'm hoping everything will be fine :S

  10. Hey guys!

I got a quick question..me and my wife filed for AOS based on marriage from a tourist visa.

Our interview is on April 4th and I wanted to ask if its absolutely necessary to show multiple joint ownerships? Its because my social security should arrive within the next 2 weeks so we would only have 1 week left to take care of everything which seems kind of impossible with my wifes busy work schedule.

We already have a phone plan together with me as an authorized user.

The only thing we would be able to do is to hopefully open up a joint bank account but she will definitely put me into her personal bank account.

We definitely wont be able to show proof of us having a house or apartment together since our house is still under my wifes brothers name and the process of changing the names wouldn't go through by that time. We're also living at her parents house right now.

So the only thing we would really have in joint is the bank account.

Would that be enough 'joint' evidence? I'm very scared and nervous its not enough and they're going to deny me :(

100 photos is a lot.  If I were you I would also have a few very selective and rich photos that show you guys living around your parents house. Draw a floor plan of where you live if you need to. Make it simple for the officer to see that you share this together.

Thanks! But what would you consider as rich photos?

The floor plan is a very good idea too!

do you have any other items with letters sent to you?  my wife has health care bills, magazine subscriptions, even amazon prime records.... not the greatest but if anything can help, go for it.

    Thanks for your answer!

Well we got a bit more..we got a plenti card together, we orderd stuff from Amazon under both of our names so I can probably print that out, we can probably also put our puppy under both of our names, and thats all I can think of right now. I don't know if im missing certain things but I think thats about it.

We're still trying to speed things up to figure it out with the house cause thats a major thing to do. We just didnt get a chance cause all of her siblings including her are teachers so they didn't get days off until spring break. But if we dont get this done then im kind of worried :/

  13. Hey guys!

First of all I'm sorry if its too much to read :$

But it's getting closer to the end of this nerve-wracking journey.

Our Interview is getting closer and closer (April 4th) and I'm super nervous and scared that they may deny me. Me and my wife got nothing to hide so im all relaxed about that..its more about all the evidence we have to show and im scared that they may not like something and send me back home :(

But anyways...I got a couple of questions about our evidence.

    • My wife still needs to file her taxes. Is it necessary for her to file them jointly with me? How would that actually work if I didnt work here or anything like that? Or would it be okay for her just to file them as married?

    • Tomorrow we are going to the Social Security place so I can apply for Social Security since I got my EAD last week and also for her so she can change her name on her SSN to our married name. And after that we want to go to the Bank so she can put me into her Bank (wells fargo) account and we also wanted to open a joint bank account together. We actually tried everything with the bank in December but they told us that I needed social security before we are able to do so.

    • The House: the thing about the House is a little tricky I wanna say.

We do have a house but its under her brothers name cause its his old House. Right now we are fixing it so hopefully we get to move in there before this Summer. Right now we're living in her parents House basically for free. Her parents House is in the same property which is about 2-3 acres big.

We are not paying rent or anything so its kind of hard to show that we actually have something like that together. We wanted to put the House under my wife's and my name but it feels like we dont have enough time to go through this process before April 4th.

Has anyone an idea how we could explain this to USCIS when we have the Interview?

We live in South Texas 30mins away from the Mexican border..her dad is Mexican and my wife told me that people who live here in this area know that mexicans share and do as much for their families as they can so I shouldn't worry about it. But I do cause im taking this very seriously since USCIS officers dont know us and they have to go with the evidence we're providing and not with whats going on with families and culture.

    • health insurance..for that it was already too late for her to put me in. She is a teacher in a small district and we couldn't get it through cause they told us the circle already closed when we tried in the beginning of February.

    • Pictures..we already sent over 100 pictures with our application so that shouldn't be a problem. We are just going to print out the ones we took after we filed so we should be good with pictures.

    • we also have a phone plan together and my wife put me as an authorized user since that was the only possibility t-mobile gave us. We already sent proof of that with our application tho.

I dont really know what else we could use as evidence.

So far we have: pictures, soon a joint bank account and my name in her own bank account, flight tickets that I visited her and she visited me, we have a phone plan together, we have a tattoo together (I have her name and she has mine) since March 2016 [if that's even considered as evidence], we got a puppy together, my sister sent us a Christmas gift from Germany with both of our names on the label and 'Merry Christmas' written on the outside of the package, of course Screenshots of the duration our skype video calls (already provided with the application), and thats all I can think of right now.

Would that be enough evidence to show at the interview? We would appreciate any help!

I hope I expressed myself clearly..if not then please let me know.

    Thank you!

  14. Heey guys!

Im actually very happy to be able to write another post today!! :)

We received the hardcopy for our interview on April 4th at 12:55pm annd...we also got a letter saying that they approved my EAD *-* They approved it 77 days after the NOA1.

The EAD came in as a surprise cause the receipt number was never working so we're super excited :)

Thats like the best Monday I ever had in my life! Lol :)

  15. Hey guys!

We got an email this morning :)

Our case has been updated to Testing and Interview.

Our NOA1 date is December 12th 2016. We are kind of surprised. We didn't think we would get an interview that quick..we thought I would get my EAD first but I guess thats not the case this time?

They scheduled our interview on April 4th 2017.

I'm already getting nervous  But I think its because I have that fear of getting declined in the back of my mind. I'm just hoping everything goes well..anyways we got nothing to hide so we should actually be fine :)

  16. Hey guys!

Sorry for not answering but we we're a little busy lately.

I would definitely go to Mexico but unfortunately I didn't apply for AP which I regret big time!

So I have to do it here in the US. We've been looking around but we couldn't really find anything good.

My wife told me we'll just to go to a dentist this weekend so they can check it out and for the surgery we'll just try to get a payment plan cause its getting unbearable for me.

Thank you guys very much for the advices and answers! I appreciate it very much!!!

  17. Hey guys!

Im sorry if im posting this into the wrong section but I didnt know where else to put it.

I need yalls help. My wisdom teeth are coming out so I need to go to the dentist to get all 4 of them out.

Now my problem is that im from Germany and I have no insurance over here in Texas.

My wife can put me into hers but we would have to wait until August but thats too long..I cant stand it anymore.

What should I do? Doing it without insurance would be too expensive. Does anyone know if there is an insurance out there that I can get? Like some type of insurance for immigrants or something thats not toooo expensive?

I would appreciate any help! Thank you guys!!
