    Hey everybody.

My husband got CR-1 visa approval in August 2018. We paid the visa fee on September 12th, and entered the US on October 25th 2018. It has now been well over 120 days, and still no sign of his green card. He got his SSN shortly after arriving. He has the I-551 in his passport with 1 year endorsement, but his work is still badgering him for his actual green card. I have called, put in requests, and contacted the Ombudsman but we are still waiting for a response. I put in my request with the USCIS weeks ago and was told I'd hear a response on March 21st 2019 , but heard nothing. Even though he has been approved, and has the I-551 in his passport, I am still worried something is wrong. Any advice? Has anyone gone through anything similar? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi there. Just curious if you had any updates. We paid January 2019 and my husband entered Feb 1 2019. We've sent several inquiries, contacted the ombudsman, and nothing. To make things worse we can't make an infopass appointment online for our local office and they have been evasive about giving us an appointment over the phone, saying that the stamp is sufficient. My husband is about to travel internationally for the first time since entry, and we are very worried about him re-entering. I know he shouldn't have a problem in theory, but I have heard of people having problems. USCIS seems to be less and less responsive every time we call. Anyway, hoping you've made some progress on your end!!

    • If the payment is made before the POE, it is 120 days after POE. Otherwise, it is 120 days after the payment is made. US Consulate normally advises to make the payment before travel to US.  However, I think it is total number of days, including weekend days (well, this is what I have been believing).
    • No issue travelling intentionally with the stamp.

Thanks @nguoivietnam2019. I thought that too, but now twice in the last week they've said BUSINESS days, which is the first time any USCIS agent has mentioned that to us. I hate to be a conspiracy theorist but I am wondering if they are now saying this since issuing green cards seems to be going slower. Anyway, we are all no strangers to waiting at this point :/ We'll just hope everything is fine with the stamp. Thanks!

  3. Hi there,

Apologies if this has already been asked. My husband entered on a CR-1, has a stamped I-551, and is waiting on his permanent green card (137 days since payment January 3, 108 days since POE February 1). I know it's typically 120 days from POE, but when we call for case status, it says to call USCIS 120 days from our date of payment.

In the off chance we could get things moving, we've called USCIS a few times now. One agent agreed it had been beyond the standard processing time, and submitted an inquiry on our behalf. In response to this inquiry, they only confirmed payment and said to call 120 days from that date.... the whole reason we submitted an inquiry in the first place. An agent on Thursday asked us to call back in the morning to speak with a tier 2 agent since we clearly got an incorrect response on our inquiry and have to wait 30 days before we can make another one. Fast forward to today, the tier 2 agent said it is 120 BUSINESS days, not total days, and that we'd have to wait until late June to inquire. This is the first time USCIS has ever said that to us.

    Has anyone else heard this?

Also, would it be crazy for my husband to travel internationally to visit his family before receiving the card? The tier 2 agent said he can travel with the stamped visa, but I've read some horror stories on here about that.

Any advice you have would be great! Thanks VJ!

    Some news on my side.

I did fill in an e-Request Non Delivery of Card. A service case/inquiry has been created and routed to the Texas Service Center.

It looks like there was an issue related to my immigration fee (paid in July 2018). The message that I received also mentioned that I should get some feedback within the 15 days.

I'm in the same boat. What form option did you choose to file this? Thanks!

  5. Hi there. I have an interview letter from NVC stating our interview is on December 19th. However, on the Egypt pre-interview checklist (https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/CRO-Cairo.pdf), it says we need to bring "Confirmation of your online appointment registration (see Step 1) confirming passport information", in addition to the NVC letter. Do I need to register this appointment? Step 1 in the doc just talks about registering the address for Aramex. There is an immigrant visa option to make an appointment on the site, but December 19th is not available and I don't want to screw it up. I don't know how to get this confirmation letter.

    Thanks!

There was no delay. I'm surprised they say you don't have case complete yet. I advise you call back on Monday, maybe you'll get someone that can give you a better response.

Did you get documentarily qualified email and did you also get it in your message box on ceac?

Yeah I will definitely do that. No, only an email that there was an updated to our case, and the only thing that changed was that a document we resubmitted was approved. That's when I called to confirm a case complete and they told me we didn't have one, even though all of our documents had been approved. There were no messages on CEAC or emails.

My CEAC account still doesn‘t show anything like „at nvc“ or completed or anything but I already have my interview appointment.

If you‘re not sure or anything, just call them again and ask if or what you have to do to be in line for an interview or if you already are...

at least that helped for my case!

Yeah, thanks for the suggestion. I will call again on Monday. Fingers crossed!

Just got documentarily qualified mail from nvc, I logged in and all my documents was accepted 💃🏽...  Now we wait for interview to be scheduled for I and my son(his cc was aug29). Submitted my docs on aug 29.

Congratulations! Quick question - was there a delay between when your documents were accepted and cc? All of my documents said accepted and my case status says "At NVC", but I called NVC and they said I DON'T have a case complete. The guy said all of my documents are approved but my case is not complete. When I asked him how that was possible, he didn't have an answer. He said I need to wait 3 weeks from the date that my last document was submitted. I don't have any messages in the system. Anyway, was your cc immediate?

The same problem happened to me . If you marry in an embassy abroad . You have to go to have it registered in Abbasya then the department of justice in Cairo . A big long story . I actually hired a lawyer to do it for me .

Hah, we have been going through this for a month and they finally accepted it today! Thanks the tip. Did you get an interview scheduled yet?

I did not have any issues with ours, we got married at the Ministry of Justice, and got it translated to English.

Our problem we are having is my husband is stuck in the AP, granted it has only been a week it still sucks, as they handed back to him his passport at interview and they only told him the case needed further review.

I don't know the difference between Administrative processing vers further review, we do not know how long it will take before they ask for his passport again to put his visa in.

I am so sorry to hear that - I hope things go very quickly for you! I know how heartbreaking this is at the end of a long process - we went all the way through the fiance visa process before getting married and starting over.

I don't know about AP either - I think it varies quite a lot. Did you attend the interview with your husband?

Also, how long did it take after all of your documents were accepted at NVC to get an interview scheduled?

I have similar problem with my birth certificate. Since 2010 they issue birth certificates in another form. So they said: "This document is from an incorrect issuing authority. Please replace this with an acceptable birth certificate." So I uploaded the same certificate with comments and hope it will go through. Over the phone the person suggested that if its still declined, then I should just submit statement explaining the same stuff I already explained in the comments.

I had the same experience. Very frustrating. Good luck to you!

  10. Hi All!

All of our documents were submitted and approved just fine, except for our marriage certificate. They said it is from the wrong issuing agency (even though it is the original, official, appropriately copy). My husband went to the office listed on the Dept. of State document reciprocity page, and they said that they do not issue marriage certificates and this information is incorrect. I submitted a letter explaining the situation, and NVC is taking longer to review than they did for all of our other documents. On the phone they gave their standard 3 weeks spiel, and said that the office listed is the only place to get the document from. We of course want to submit a valid document and get on with our case, but they have left us no options to do that. Any advice? Anyone else, particularly from Egypt, find a marriage certificate from that office? Thank you!

  11. I am sorry if this has been asked before. Our case is at NVC and everything was going smoothly until they deemed our marriage certificate invalid (all of our other documents were accepted). We got married in an Egyptian Embassy outside of Egypt, and submitted the original, notarized certificate issued at the time of our marriage, along with an English translation.

We went to the state department document reciprocity site, and my husband went to the office where they said acceptable marriage certificates are in Cairo to get a new one. The office said they don't issue marriage certificates (even though my husband showed them the state department website directing people there). I submitted a letter with a description of this situation and called the NVC a few times last week. They say I have to wait up to 3 more weeks for them just to review the letter. At this point we are very concerned, particularly because the document they deemed unacceptable is our valid, notarized marriage certificate.

Any other Egypt filers out there run into problems with the marriage certificate? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Does the status on CEAC ever change to something other than "At NVC"?... I've paid all fees, submitted the forms and mailed all documents and the status "At NVC" has never changed...

I don't know, but you are lucky! My status says I need to mail in civil documents, even though I have a PIVOT case and submitted them online. The NVC person on the phone assured me everything was submitted 8/16, but still waiting for CC.

@Abies Congratulations, you have been a real blessing to people seeking answers in this long tedious (and sometimes unclear process). I get all my answers just by looking at your responses on this forum.

I kind of feel low at times because we just keep pushing our way but I know there is a light at the end of this long wait

Neways, NVC received our case on the 23rd of July. I keep reading it takes around 9 weeks. Is that true for all the cases? Or should we start calling now to enquire about the same? I am from India and they aren't clear whether the process will be totally digital or snail mail.

    Thanks in advance

Start calling! I felt the same as you, but to my surprise, I got a case number by email today, and NVC received my case on July 17th! When I called them after they received it using option 7, they told me to call back and choose option 5 because my case is electronic. They should know at this point. Good luck to you and everyone else on here! :)

Yes I did. I got an email notifying me of an update in my case on the new USCIS website and then checked it and it showed that my case had been forwarded to NVC.

Hmm. My approval date is 6/21 and NVC still hasn't received - the USCIS app doesn't even say sent yet. I am seeing 1-2 weeks for most people from NOA2 to case received by NVC, but NVC says to wait up to 6 weeks when I call.

    What is a congressional inquiry?

If you look up your congressperson, either a Senator or Representative, you can file a case inquiry with their office. This is part of their job as an elected representative of you. You give them your case information and as far as I know, they will check on the status for you and in *some* cases, can speed up the process for you. This is one of the services that your tax dollars fund, so don't be afraid to use it! Go to your representative's website and they should have information about this. If not, call them. It should be totally free to you, and they should follow up with you fairly quickly.
