  1. Cool. Thanks.

So you were able to only change your name for State ID but not Social Security Number card yet right?

I changed the name on my social security card first, then I go to DMV with the paper (they only gave you a confirmation paper from the social security office at that time then they will mail you the new social security card in a week or two) I got from the social security office and get my named changed on the driver's license.

  2. Let me know if that works. I tried to change my name on my driver license, even with the marriage certificate, they refused, because on my I-94, it still showed the old name. The lady told me I should go to the immigration office to get this changed..... I still have my old name on it, as I am not willing to waste half a day for that...... but maybe the SSN would be ok with that.

I went to Social security office with my marriage certificate and I-94 etc to get my name first then they gave me a piece of confirmation letter and told me I can go to the DMV next day to change the name on my driver's license. I went to DMV the next day with the confirmation letter from SSO and my I-94 etc, they had no problem changing my last name :)

  3. Yes, you should be waiting for your biometrics in the mail now. For some it's just takes a matter of days after the NOA is received, approximately 6 days is the earliest. However, for some like me, it takes longer. I haven't received my biometrics letter yet and its been 9 days since I received the hard copies of my NOAs. I hope you have yours sooner than later.

EAD is usually on time about 75 days or 3 months so you should received it by end of October or early November as you are expecting. And I hope it'll be sooner too! :)

After biometrics, schedule of interview depends on how packed is the local office you'll be assigned to. If it's in San Jose, CA, as I checked USCIS they have a little backlogged. Still processing cases from November 3, 2015. So you can expect the interview next year. Maybe around March? I am not quiet sure though. But again, I hope everything would be sooner! :)

Field Office Processing Dates for San Jose CA as of: June 30, 2016

I-485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status - Processing cases as of DATE: November 3, 2015

N-400 Application for Naturalization January 5, 2016 N-600 Application for Certification of Citizenship

    5 Months

I think my case will be in San Jose, CA :(

Are those processing time on the website really accurate?

    I really hope not :(

I remember when I was working on my J1 waiver case, it's form I-612. When I checked their processing time, it says they are still working on the case of September, 2015. I only submitted my case on October, 2015. However, my case has been approved but the website still shows they are currently working on the September, 2015 cases.

But maybe I-485 info is more accurate? I am just saying all those to make myself feel better! ??

Still waiting for the biometric mail :)

  4. What type of vaccines do I need to show proof of as an adult. Do I need my childhood doctor's report or do I just need to show that I am updated on my tetanus diphtheria and pertussis?

    Is this for AOS?

What I did was I went to a civil surgeon who was certified by USCIS, the doctor or medical assistant will let you know what shots you need based on your age and the time of the year (flu shots etc). I don't have any records with me, based on my age, I just got a shot of MMR. It required Tdap, but I already got it when I was pregnant with my daughter this March, so I showed them the records. For the chicken pox shot, I had chicken pox when I was a kid, so the doctor just wrote I had the chicken pox history. So basically I only got one shot for my immigration medical.

Find a doctor and make an appointment, they will tell you everything you need :)

    Hope it helps!

  5. RFIE - request for initial evidence is when the initial evidence (mandatory documents) is missing for example you forgot the birth certificate or you forgot to submit the last years tax return or your forgot to sign the paperwork or you don't meet the financial requirement for the household and need a joint sponser

RFE - request for evidence is when they just want more evidence... Example you only submitted 2015 tax return but they want to see 2013 and 2014 also

The above is just examples of why someone may recieve an RFIE or an RFE

Thank you so much for the explanation! It helps a lot!
  6. Yeah, I'm excited t recieved the bio letter too.??

Well, our processing time can likely be the same. But i think it will also depend on the respective officers who will be handling our case. I hopr both of them are fast enough and don't have a lot of other back logged cases! Haha.

Let's keep each other posted and we'll see.?

Congrats on your bio letter! When is your appointment date?

I have one question for you, when you applied for the K1 visa, has USCIS assigned you an A number?

  7. Hi guys! First update on my case...I was out of town for 2 weeks and when I got home last night, I found 4 letters from USCIS yaaaay !!!

So official NOA1 date is August 8, Biometrics scheduled for August 30. Exciteeeed :) :) :)

The receipt numbers still dont work on USCIS website, though. But, I guess I dont have to worry about it at least until next Tuesday :)

Great week to you all, fellow AOSers ;-)

    Congrats!! Really happy for you!!
