  1. Should i call USCIS customer service for this or the office that i scheduled infopass appoinment?

You should call the USCIS customer service number because I believe you won't be able to find the local office phone number.

Or you can just go to the infopass without the notice as long as you are certain that you do have an appointment.

You can explain to them in the office and the guard/front desk should be able to print out your appointment notice from their computer.

But if you want to be safe, just call them to cancel this one then schedule another one.

  2. Congratulations on your such good news!

I am curious, when did you get the notice for your interview?

Because on the USCIS processing time website, it says that in San Jose office, they are still processing cases from December 2015. So I have seen or heard many people like you that have had their interview or approval way before the online indicated processing time, is it because the cases were based on marriage?

I hope I can get my interview soon, instead of waiting for another 6 months......

    Thank you!

My intrerview was scheduled on Nov.9th. I think that's the date on the interview notice. I got the notice in the mail a few days later after they scheduled it.

I think the processing timeline is not very accurate or what I have heard is the processing timeline indicates the oldest case date that they are working on, which means maybe they still have one or a few case back to December, 2015 that they are working on. But it doesn't mean that they are not working on any newer cases. I think they just have to update the timeline based on the oldest date. I forgot where I read it but no matter if it's true, at least we know they are actually working on newer cases either way. I do hear that marriage based green card application is faster than employment based.

Hope you get your interview soon!!

  3. Status changed to card (green card) was mailed to me :D

congrats, they updated mine in the same order. 3 days after they updated to case is approved they changed it card was mailed to me.

Congrats! I submitted all my evidence and they didnt even look at it. From what I saw it seems to be more common now that they dont approve it right at the interview but rather say they will do it later the day (i think because they might have to talk with their supervisor or something)

Thank you! Yeah, I was asking: so I didn't get approved right now? He said that they have to follow certain steps to approve the case etc..

But glad he approved it within the same day! Thank you again for sharing the medical changes :)

  4. I had my AOS interview today in San Jose office, CA. It was scheduled for 7:35am but we were called in around 8am. The officer sincerely apologized for making us wait for a while.

The interview went smooth. It was more like a small talk than a interview. We didn't submit any supporting documents with the package other than our marriage certificate, because I was on a J1 visa and I didn't expect the interview to be waived. So what I have heard is if I don't really submit those supporting documents, then I will get an interview for sure which might be even quicker than waiting for them to decide if they should waive my interview. Anyways, the officer only asked me show him the original copy of our marriage certificate, our birth certificate (mine, my husband's and our daughter's). He also asked me to show him my passport. He didn't even ask to see our joint bank accounts or any other joint stuff. But I brought everything. He complimented about how organized our documents were, so my husband thinks being fully prepared is really important. I asked him if he wants to see any of joint stuff or even photos, I brought tons of those, he said no, I believe you guys. He said I don't normally say that. Lol. Not sure if it has anything to do with us bringing our 7 months old to the interview. He didn't mention anything about the medical test, and he was not aware of the gonorrhea test. I brought it up and handed him the new medical package (thanks Mrs. Baldwin sharing her successful interview experience with us). He told me he would look into it later on.

As for the questions he asked, he asked me about my husband's name and birthday and birthplace, my in laws' name and residence. He asked my husband the same thing about mine. Then he just had some small talk with us about his family, his father etc. (My husband is in the military and the officer's dad was in the military too, so they had some military talk.)

Everything seemed going well but I didn't get approved on the spot. He told me my case was held for review and he would approve it in the afternoon after he reviews it and if nothing is missing. I was a little bit disappointed because I was expecting to be approved on the spot.

So we left and had lunch and drove around. Around 3pm, I checked my case status and it changed to "new card is being produced." So I think he kept his word and did approve my case in the afternoon.

That's about everything I can remember and I think I have covered all. Hope it helps!

I have also updated my timeline, please see my signature.

Best luck to all of us and hope we all can have good news sooner than we expected!

  5. Yay for everyone's great news. Today I finally was able to talk with a tier 2 and was able to find out that our case is just waiting for an appointment date so it can be sent to the field office. So now hubby needs to get his medical appointment. Does anyone have a recommendation for the Portland, Oregon Area? Also what some of you paid for your physicals? Thanks a lot and Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Not sure about which office to go in your area.

I paid around $200 for the exam. ?

  6. First of all congratulations to all of you who got approvals!

Second of all, do you think I should make a service request for my AOS, as status did not change since August 10?

Last and only status so far is: Fingerprint fee was received.

3 months and 12 days since they received my application.

I think you don't have to make a SR. My case status is still "fingerprint fee was received" even they scheduled my interview back to Nov.9th. So I don't know when they are going to update it or if they are ever going to. But you may just find an interview notice in mail one day without any updates showing online! Good luck!
  7. So I just looked at the RFE for my medical closely and it tells me to send the new medical to the address below but it doesnt show any address below. I only have the address of my local USCIS office on the top on the letter. Should I send it to this address?

If it's me, I probably will make an infopass and deliver the documents in person. Not sure if that makes sense, but I think it might speed up your case since it's sitting in the local office anyways.
  8. They did not stamp the passport. The questions were incredibly straightforward: is this your first marriage? Can i see lease, banking, insurance documents? They took both of our passports and driver'a licenses to take down. It was 1000X smoother of a process than I had ever anticipated.

    That's really straightforward lol!

Thank you for sharing!! Do you have any problem with the medical exam result?

  9. Just came back from out interview. we had it at 10 am and we left the building at 10.10 already. She didnt ask us any questions because we had so much proof already send it. My husband just had to check if this is his signature on the I-130. I had to make sure my infor on the I-485 was correct. she wrote down and our passport and drivers licence numbers and asked if i left the country since i got my Ap card. She only mentioned that there was a problem with my medical. They changed the medical on August 1 this year that everyone needs a gonorrhea test and that even when my medical was before august first I would have to submit it. She gave me an RFE and said i had 32 days to submit it and 90 days after they got my new medical i could call uscis to find out if my green card was approved or not but I wouldnt get an answer before that. Well short before we left an other lady came and looked over some documents and said "oh so you got approved? oh wait I see your medical is missing. So once we receive your medical we can change the status to approved".

So I guess it went good but it was kinda strange. I am also a bit annoyed by the problem with the medical but its not a huge deal as long as it gets approved.

Congrats on your interview! Glad it went well!

About the medical exam, does that mean if we did our medical exam after Aug, 2016 then we should be covered? Is there a specific section you would recommend me to check on the forms? I want to make sure if I need get it ready before my interview. Thank you!
