  1. Hello everyone and salam

as some of you may know, I am married to an American citizen, applied in Feb. 2016 and it was smooth until I got my interview scheduled in Jan. 2017 then I have been on AP since then

I got a call from the embassy about a month and a half ago asking me to send them new medical exam, new police certificate, my passport and resubmit the ds-260 online after they reopened it for me

i did that then once they received it they sent an email asking me to schedule an email, it was confusing because it was one of their molded emails like the thing u wud get from NVC so I emailed them and they said it is for retaking the oath (I guess it is since I resubmitted the ds-260) I scheduled it and attended last Sunday and the African American small cheerful man told me congratulations and that I will have my passport via aramex in two weeks after making me swear that the data is correct

got one update that day and another yesterday but nothing serious

i hope this gives you some hope :) prayers for everyone including myself

    hang on there

    Hi Everyone,

First of all,  I am so grateful to find such a strong support group.  You do not know this but everyone in this forum have given me hope in times of frustration and I hope to also help others by sharing our experience.    I am an American Citizen and filed for K1 visa for my Fiancé.   We have been waiting for almost 3 months now.  He had his interview on July 18 and was placed on AP.

On October 29, his CEAC status changed to "Non Immigrant Visa , Application Ready" (I read this is a normal process - changing from Immigrant to Non Immgrant, then it will change again to Immigrant VIsa once his status is updated. But no update since Oct 29) .  He also received an email from the US Embassy in Cairo to send them his passport  through Aramex.  We sent it on Nov 4.

Has anybody been asked to send their passport and what was the result?  I read on other forums that the Embassy can hold the passport for months without any updates.

    Any information helps! Thank you!

From what I have been reading for the last three years, i think you are done with the process and he will be issued very soon by GOD’s will

the change for immigrant to non immigrant is a definite sign in my knowledge plus they don’t really ask for the passport unless they are done

So I will be telling you congratulations but cautiously because the rule is, it is not over until it is over and your visa is in hand and you are inside the states

btw did the case creation date (first date on CEAC) change as well this last time?

I’ve contacted them on that page. The office is responsive and try to help, the rep that spoke to me even consoled me after I had a melt down during our conversation. Unfortunately there’s not much they can do about administrative processing, they can’t even give an estimate for responses. They can basically only help if you have an unusual issue with ur case.

    Thank you so much :)

do you guys recommend the US spouse attend the interview with the Egyptian spouse? Were there any benefits or cons to doing so vs. not doing so?

I always heard both opposite opinions but I think it is a good thing, it shows the relation is true that the American spouse took the effort to be with his/her spouse in Egypt and it is counted as time together anyways

I never read something bad about it from the specific person that it happened to, always just stories about others being asked and interrogated separately and such stuff

    Please check those links

they are from Dept of state website and the guide here on visa journey and they are more than enough to follow but please ask the guys here about anything you don’t get

Not trying to make sense, but trying to see similarities or common grounds.

We have an acquaintance that works at the Embassy who talked to us about many important red flags they look for.  That is why some things stick out to me, more than others.

Again, just trying to see if there is at least something that links each person together for this intensely long AP process for you all!

Yeah yeah I know, I have gone through this too, all the reading and asking about things ... it is true that there are red flags and all that affects the decision and better be well prepared at least to be satisfied with yourself instead of beating urself over it later

but what I noticed is that the process is not transparent at all and it is meant to be so by laws that give them immunity to appeals and waiving and that gives them the right to keep info from you

and this is ,anywhere and in any process, the biggest door for being a pain for personal and not professional reasons or for political reasons like the current administration and its minions that hold managerial places in all the posts now

so sometimes there is really no reasons

  7. Want my advice? Don’t really try to understand things in a logic way, it is all BS depends on luck as a big factor plus other things

no we are both young with one year difference, no kids or divorces before

the small wedding is ok, I have seen people get approved with it and without nothing at all, both our families and friends  know about it and we had proof for this

my wife has been livin with me in Egypt since the New Year’s Eve so about 9 months and we had a ton of pictures from the honeymoon where we went everywhere around Egypt plus the chat and call logs for more than 5 years

Sorry if I implied the applicant was a "her".  She is the wife of the beneficiary and she is the petitioner.

I am so sorry you are going through this.  I wish there was some way to see similarities between each case in AP.  But, it seems like its all over the place.

So close in age? Same religion? Big Wedding? Family knows and supports you all?

    This is just heartbreaking!

It is ok, this makes more sense now :)

no red flags really, even the wedding was a small home thing but with family and friends and all around

it is sad yeah, those laws need to change somehow

    Nothing on my side either.

I had a friend who's case has been moved forward recently, after over 2 years of waiting. But that's a different story altogether.

Have you recently checked the news? trump wants to increase the poverty guidelines for immigrants, making it much harder for any, but mostly some, of us. Long story short, when you apply for anything immigration-wise and you need sponsorship, they'll be more inclined to approved the wealthier.

So, for those like me expecting to get on a K1 visa then apply for AOS later, this may come into play as a determining factor for the application.

It's only being discussed now, so let's hope it'll never come to pass.

Yeah I have heard about it but this is kinda out of our concern now

they need to lose this coming election, they should before they make more damage

Hello!  I am so sorry to hear about your long process with AP from Cairo.  One of my close friends is current in AP in Cairo as well, my heart just breaks for her.

Could I ask you a few questions?

Did they ever ask for more information?

Did you have any red flags?

Did you spouse go to the interview with you?

I am praying and wishing for the best!

Her?!! A female in AP ? this is quite new .. my prayers for her anyways

    - no, they never did

    - not really red flags unless you consider that she visited me only once for marriage and the second was for the interview but I have seen many similar cases got approved beside we had a ton of proofs for the online relationship like chat, etc

    - yes she attended the interview with me

    thank you

    Hi Ayman .

Yes lawyers prompt them to get the job done . Don't listen to this that lawyers can't do anything for administrative processing .

At least he will find out what is the reason for delay .

What the lawyers can't help with big red flags . Like big age difference between you and your wife  that she isn't within child bearing age because they know that children are very important for middle eastern men . If they found out that you are married  . If they found out that you lied in your application or presented fake papers . Yes those are  stuff a lawyer can't help with . But other than that lawyers in the US in general help a.lot  and helped in immigration cases

    Thank you so much!

    any recommendations for lawyers?

I have read your timeline and the review of the consulate is like any regular interview , what is not normal is the AP taking that long something not right at all , people get AP for different reason for like month to 3 months 6 months not for that long must been something wrong.

Having lawyer in Egypt is difficult and before you hire him he will assure you he will fix it and he may not even allowed to enter embassy and just a drain of money, there is a translation office the Nadoury and Nahas beside embassy he is also lawyer office . i would go and meet him and ask for option or brief him and hear from them maybe they give some info or maybe they guide you to someone trusted ,but before you hire anyone you need understand what steps he is gonna take and to know where you paying your money.

keeping following with the embassy through email and to the state email for immigrants is also an option while waiting.

I am with you that it is not right of course :)

but it is definitely normal, they have been doing this before and more so now especially in the happy reign of Trump

of course we are not speaking about Egyptian lawyers, any legal action is under the American law in an American court and on the American spouse behalf so it is definitely an American immigration lawyer

    thank you though

but it is definitely normal especially recently ... they do this all the time now even more than before ..

of course we are talking about an American immigration lawyer not an Egyptian one ... any lawsuit is under the American law and in an American court and in behalf of the American spouse

You need to push folks at the state senators office and ask them to inquire with the embassy whats going on and what is taking so long.  Go down to their office and speak to them personally.  Keep contacting the embassy every week via. their contact form for an update.  Search this forum for folks that are/were in your situation to learn about options available to you at this stage.

I have already been doing most of this and I am on the rest

    thank you
