    hi everyone,
has anyone received rescheduled naturalization appointment in SanDiego or even in California
    - original appointment; April 18
    - appointment canceled by USCIS because of COVID; April 1
please inform us if you got one

    thank you

I just posted this in another forum. I hope this helps.

N600 Original Oath Ceremony date: March 27

    Rescheduled to: July 17

    Field Office: Fresno, CA

Just a quick update that our son's N600 Ceremony of Oath was completed on Friday, July 17 in Fresno, CA.

Even though the appointment letter said minors should go with their parents, we were not allowed in. The appointment was at 10:30 am and around that time the officer came out and said that due to the coronavirus situation only the persons to be sworn were allowed inside and would enter in groups of 4. When we asked about minors, he said that as long as they were over 13 years of age, they could enter alone. My son entered the building in the 3rd group of 4, said they were asked for the appointment letter and to surrender their green card. They took the Oath in groups of 4, were shown their Certificate and were handed their envelope. It was a simple and straightforward process and he left the building around 11 am.

Filed online N-600 in March 2020. It is sooo good they have this option now. It was accepted and is under review. I am curious how long people usually wait. Someone said that in FL they got it done in 3 months, in TX in 5 months. Practically for all offices the  official processing time  is 5-11 months. I wonder if someone else got it within at least 5 months?

We are in California and technically our N600 has been approved. The problem was with the coronavirus shutdown our Ceremony of Oath was cancelled. N600 is for a 16 year old. Below is our timeline.

    NOA: November 14, 2019

    Biometrics: January 15, 2020

    Approval Notice: March 6, 2020

Administration of Oath: March 27, 2020, 10:00 AM

    Oath Ceremony De-Scheduled: March 17, 2020

Waiting to hear back from USCIS on the new date. Without the shutdown, the process should have taken around 4 months.

    Hope this helps.

  4. My son's I-130 took 6 months to be approved. From there the process took an extra 8 months, because our Consulate was overwhelmed with so many cases. I found that during the process it helps to keep track of other threads with cases similar to yours or the step you are currently at. You can search for a thread of other filing I-130 in December and handled at the Nebraska Service Center or you can even start your own thread with this topic.  However, with the coronavirus situation there might be longer waiting periods.

    Hope this helps.

I-551 in passport IS work authorization.

This is true, the I-551 serves as an official document that authorizes you to work in the U.S.

I received a job offer two weeks after my entrance to the U.S., as I began my job search online before my arrival. At that moment of accepting the job offer I did not have my green card and they accepted the I-551 stamp in my passport. Attached is the list of acceptable documents they sent me.

    Hope this helps.

We went through this process a few years ago with my son in our home country. My husband USC petitioned us at separate times (months apart). You need to file the I-130 for your step child. Because he is outside of the U.S. you will need to go through consular process, which involves applying for an immigrant visa through the National Visa Center. In our case, my son and I had to attend an interview at our Embassy; fingerprint scan and medical exam at an authorized clinic were both in our country. Due to your stepchild's age, I am not sure he is required to attend the interview. I am thinking your wife will need to go on her own. Once approved your passport is stamped with an I-551 visa for your child to enter the U.S. legally. Once you arrive in the U.S. you can proceed to request the green card and pay the fees. The GC will arrive to your address a few weeks later.

    I hope this helps.

My understanding of these is that it’s not an “interview” as such, really just the oath, and he gets the certificate. I assume he doesn’t have a passport yet if he still has his green card? My daughter has a passport - we had to send her green card in for that already. She’s also under  14. So the cases are slightly different.  I’ll keep the thread updated on ours too, for reference for future readers.

    Hi SusieQQQ,

We didn't apply for his passport because we had no plans of traveling outside the country and was eligible to take his driving test last month. I figured the driver's license/permit would be something helpful to show for when we applied for the passport.

Thank you so much for the information regarding the interview/oath. I'll also keep the thread posted to let other readers know how it goes.

Hello Monica7777, I have not received anything in whatsoever form so far. Would you please share your e-inquiry result? Thanks.

    Hi Larry6699

Just wanted to provide a quick update that the documents were uploaded to https://myaccount.uscis.gov/  with the interview letter. Our interview is scheduled for March 27, 2020.

    4 hours ago, SusieQQQ said:

Is the person the n600 was applied for, over 14 years old? I believe they schedule oath ceremonies in those instances.

fyi I applied n600 for my kid. Myuscis has the interview appointment status, uscis case status (is that what you mean by egov?) says the case was approved and approval notice sent. Both dated 27 Feb, no online letter in myuscis and nothing physical received yet.

    SusieQQQ

Yes, the N600 is for a 16 year old. The letter says we are scheduled for an: ADMINISTRATION OF OATH. The instructions say we will have to surrender the alien registration card. So I am not sure if this is a combination of an interview and oath and they both take place at the same time.

I'll keep you posted on the process.

    Hi SusieQQQ,

I was checking using two different websites:

https://myaccount.uscis.gov/  which had the Interview Scheduled

https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do  which says Oath Ceremony was Mailed

Hi Monica7777, I really don’t have much to update at this moment. My case should be later than yours. My online status was changed to this weird interview appointment on 2/13, saying that they will send me an appointment letter for interview but I was not able to see the interview letter online as I used to be in the past, no physical letter was not received in the mail either so far. So today I called the USCIS automated phone service number, finding that my case was approved, which conflicted with the online status. If you or someone else has any update, I’d appreciate if it can be shared.

Hello Monica7777, I have not received anything in whatsoever form so far. Would you please share your e-inquiry result? Thanks.

    Hi Larry6699,

I just checked the USCIS and egov websites and they were both updated today. USCIS now says 'March 5, 2020 -USCIS has scheduled your interview appointment and will mail the appointment letter'. Previously the date was February 12, 2020. The egov website now says 'Oath Ceremony was Mailed'. The option of an e-inquiry has now been pushed to April 4. So we are stuck again with two different statements and having to wait for another month to see if something arrives in the mail. I'll keep you posted.

Sorry you haven't received anything either.

  12. Unfortunately there is no way to know how long the process will take. The estimate time I was given for my N400 was 5-9 months. Surprisingly the process from submitting the N400 to the Ceremony of Oath took only 4 months. My interview letter arrived 6 weeks after the biometrics. Yet my son's N600 process is taking twice as long, for every step.

Have you opened an online account with USCIS and egov to check on the status of your case?

We still haven't received anything in the mail. We should be able to proceed with the e-inquiry on 3/16, if we haven't received anything in the mail before then.

    Hi Larry6699,

Sounds like we are on the same boat. Our N600 online status was also changed to 'Interview has been scheduled' on 2/12. To this day I also don't see the interview letter online and nothing has arrived in the mail. The automated system said the same to me.

I'll make sure to keep you updated on our case and I hope we hear back soon.

Hi Topgear77,  would you please update your case’s outcome? I am having the same problem now. The online status says that they have scheduled an interview but the automated phone system says my case has been approved and will send me the approval notice. Thanks.

It would be nice to receive an update from Topgear77 or anyone else who has gone through this.

We are using an immigration lawyer and I asked him about this situation. His comment was that the website has been inaccurate lately. So until we receive the letter in the mail we won't know for sure.

    Hi all

I got my case updated a week and half ago saying "Interview Schedule" since i didnt get any letter i called USCIS and the automated system said: You case was approved.

Has anyone had this experience? Both status seem different so i dont know what to do.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I am in the same situation as you described. The website updated my N600 case on Tuesday to "Interview Scheduled". After 3 days I called USCIS on Friday the automated system said my case was approved and a letter of approval will be sent out.

Did you recieve any updates regarding your case?

Hi, I filed online and was wondering how soon do you get the notice for biometrics scheduling from date of application? Do they also mail  hard copy to your address? TIA!

My letter of appointment for the biometrics took around 3 weeks to arrive after we submitted the N-400 application. However, for my son (N600) the letter of appointment arrived 6 weeks after we submitted the application. I believe it depends of the availability in your local office.

    Hope this helps.

  18. 18 hours ago, SusieQQQ said:

A biometrics appointment is 5 minutes at an ASC, you could have just done a walk-in actually without even calling at most ASCs.

Actually no, you are incorrect. When I talked to the first person, I asked if they accepted walk-ins at that office and he said no. He said I had to talk to a Tier 2 officer to reschedule and reason why I went that route. I would have been more than happy to walk-in the following day. Also at that office they were very strict about the people who were allowed to walk in or stand in front of the office. If your appointment was at 9:00 am, you were not allowed to stand in line in front their office until 8:45 am. The people who arrived early were asked to go wait in their cars, or elsewhere.

From this web page I think we have learned that every case, office and timeline is different ... Just FYI.

Thats fine. Wifey is in no hurry to be a citizen. Just want to get in to the process. She is fine even if the new date comes after months.

I had something similar happen to me when I received notification of my biometrics appointment. It was scheduled on a date that I already had a work trip scheduled that would have been difficult to move. I called the number on the letter and requested to have a Tier 2 officer call me back. They eventually called back after 4 hours (so don't be discouraged if it takes a while to hear back). And with her help I was able to reschedule the appointment the following week.

Bottom line is you are able to reschedule.

    Hope you enjoy your vacation.
