I've never heard of a petitioner being able to use infopass before the beneficiary has actually arrived in the U.S. I was under the impression that infopass is solely for the immigrant, and in almost all cases, I believe the immigrant has to be present at the infopass appointment. No one can speak on his/her behalf.
Please someone correct me if I am mistaken.
well, I had never even heard of the INFOPASS appointment at all....it was the customer service rep. that told me to make the appointment and she knew that I was dealing with the I129F petition....
but then again...I know that phone line is notorious for giving out way wrong info.
I guess I'll go to the appointment and see what they say. Like Andy said...what can it hurt? Maybe something will happen for me in the next two weeks. I saw KitKat got approved finally....so maybe me? Anyway, after that appointment it will be WELL over 200 days since I originally filed the I129F. So if that does not get me anywhere its down the street to the Congressman's office!
I agree you should go--InfoPass is fun! Seriously. Indicate that you want to speak with an officer.
You are entitled to go in, btw. You are the petitioner, you are actually the only one with any CIS business at the moment. You're not speaking on anyone's behalf but your own.
I've gone in on my own before (I'm the petitioner). Who knows what you might learn? I find out something new every time I go in!
Thanks Meauxna!
I am going to go to the appointment, and bring ALL my documents and stuff with me. I'll cross my fingers that something happens in the next two weeks before the appointment...but then I expect results!

Anybody else done this? Does it get you anywhere? I just got off the phone with USCIS. The automated line says if you have no new replies 60 days after they recieved your RFE, then it is outside processing times. I have not had an update since July 8th...only a few touches here and there. So I decided to call.
The woman was nice, but not very helpful. She told me that my processing time started over from when the case was transferred to California in June....NOT from my original NOA1 date in March.
If thats true, then its not outside of processing time until 180 days after June 16th!!!!! I dont believe that though, from what others have posted here about that topic.
Anyway, she told me that the only way I could get more information was to schedule an INFOPASS appointment at my local office and speak with an immigration officer there. It will be nice to actually TALK to someone about the case, but I just dont have the confidence it will get anything done. My case is at CSC...not my local office so how much can really be done from there?
So....yeah....anybody done this?

Congratulations. I hope you will be as happy with your Ukrainian bride as I am with mine. They are lovely ladies. Now, get the remaining items together quickly. She can get the final packets online or wait until the embassy sends them to her. But, don't wait.
Get your documents sent to her, have her get the police report completed and schedule an appointment at the embassy in Kiev. She will need a medical exam which is available in a couple of places in Kiev and that should be scheduled before her embassy appointment. So, if she lives a distance from Kiev, make sure she has money for transportation, hotel, food, etc for at least a couple of days in Kiev. She will need to pay an $8 overnight delivery charge for her visa to be sent to her home. It's required now, even if they live in Kiev.
Start making your plans because unless the NVC is slowing down, she could be in your arms in one month. I know because this happened to me. The embassy can schedule appointments online but she needs to be prepared with your final documents first. FedEx what you can but find out first whether her city has express mail services. You can check with FedEx or DHL International.
Congratulations again.
Yeah! I love it when another couple from Ukraine gets the approval! I just can't wait for it to be my turn. Plus, listen to 1HappyGuy....seems hes already done all the fun stuff at the embassy and knows what hes talking about! I tell my special lady to be ready, because when that approval comes...its all gonna happen fast! According the Kiev Embassy website, appointments are less than two weeks out...so almost as soon as they get the stuff from NVC you lady can have her interview! Man I am so excited for you!!! Good Luck!!!

From the speed at which they are working I would say they are already on 3 day work weeks!!
If we are lucky enough to even get three days out of them!!! Govt. employees are given Monday as a holiday, but if CSC works on the weekend (which sometimes I think they do because we see touches on weekends) then the only day they would have off is Monday....maybe thats being too optimistic.
In any case, here is to hoping for lots of March approvals this week (Me, and Gary, and sbgWolf and all the rest!!!)

K-1 beneficiary's brother just had an amputation and when being wheeled between rooms in hospital saw dogs in the hospital's backyard fighting over his amputated leg, each pulling on different sides. (No wonder there are always so many dogs behind a hospital's theatre).
This was then told to K1 the beneficiary and now the beneficiary is being treated for stress and depression because cant believe that dogs are fighting over brother's leg.
Will USCIS accept this reason and approve the I-129 faster?
Well, it is possible. You will need to submit at least 3 photos of the dogs fighting over the leg. Also, you will need to submit the USCIS K-9 form in quadriplicate and this must be signed by the dogs (copies are not allowed).
The K-9 form!!! Thats so great!!! lol

No one wants to see a pregnant woman/infant on different sides of countries' borders with a baby daddy?
Is this a go or a no-go for expedited approval? What say you?
I dont think this guy should be reproducing anyway.

Fantastic!!! Congrats!!!!
-
Approved with the IMBRA waiver on the filing limits???
If thats what the waive is for you are the first i have seen on this board! And that is great news for myself and a few other posters like sbgWolf who have been really nervous about the IMBRA waiver!
I am very happy for you! Congrats and good luck on the rest of your journey! Trust me...your good news is my good news too!!!!

Man what is going on here? It hasnt even been a really slow week for REAL approvals....is this the junk we have to come up with to talk about?
-
Man if that was true...approval in just 12 days...I would just scrap my current petition and MOVE to Vermont just so I could file there now....
I have waited six months already with no end in sight...but I guess in Vermont there is no waiting. This must be BS.

Hmmm...
You got me thinking...I was touched on the 25th too! But the status didnt change, and there was no updates. And my NOA1 date is VERY close to yours. So I ran to the PO Box...But nothing for me!
Nevertheless...congrats to you, and best wishes on the rest of your journey!

yeah! Thats what mine looked like when they sent it back to me too! They said that it was imcomplete because no payment was attached, but they actually sent me back the cashier's check that was submitted originally too! (stupid USCIS!!! I could be done by now!!)
I was impressed with how they organized it all. I thought I had done a pretty good job of putting it together when I sent it...
-
Well, you did the right thing by calling to update you address...
but be pleased that your experience on the line with customer service was productive. Because thats probably the most useful calling that number will be during the rest of your wait time!!!
Good luck!

I signed but no way I am giving a case number out. there are over 50 of us over 150 days. I would expect a lot more signatures than I am seeing.
wolf
Wolf is right! Why are there only 47 signatures so far? We ALL want the same thing right? So our voices should be heard!
-
I really love the way Majizee is posting about people to include their timelines...yet he does not seem to have one of his own...not even in his signature....
Maybe thats the joke and I just dont think its funny?
Im pretty tired of this guy.
-
Wow Gary! Thanks for putting all the time into making this list! Im sure everyone here on VJ will help you keep it updated by giving you the information as soon as we can get our hands on it. Everyone feels isolated and victimized by having to wait so long, but your hard work shows that we are still all in the same boat, and waiting together. THANK YOU GARY!!!!
-
wow. This is horrible. I had been watching the USCIS site to see if they were going to update procesing times this week...even if they just moved it forward by one week from March 6th, that would have meant it was MY turn for sure. And now it goes backwards? I have a strong feeling of defeat, which is only muted by the fact my case status shows a touch today. I will try to remain hopeful.

I dont know if this helps you guys or not, but the US Embassy in Kiev where my lady will have her interview has made packet three available online for download so you can print out the forms and checklists required at home. The postal system in Ukraine is very bad, and sometimes things never reach their destinations at all...
I dont know if other embassies offer a similar program for packet three, but it might be worth going to your embassies websites to check it out. Just trying to help a lil!
Good luck!

yeah...Im creeping up on the 180 day mark pretty soon too....
I was thinking about contacting the congressman soon, but I decided to wait and see if I hit that mark first without an approval....I think a six month wait time is enough to complain about.
So many of us are still waiting from March, and some still from February...this whole thing is becoming more and more ridiculous.
-
LOL! I guess I never saw it before, but now I see that Andy filed at VSC, not CSC! That prolly means that hes gonna get approved by the end of this week....and Ill have to wait until May of 2009. (Sarcasm)
Seriously though...this whole process makes less and less sense every day...the only thing that keeps me from going insane with the waiting is reading this forum. Its hard enough to wait, but at least I know we are all waiting together, and Im not alone.
-
Hey Wolf!
Good thing you have done something to calm your nerves! I was getting worried about you man!
I cant believe that you wont have an answer by November...I am sure that USCIS cannot be that incompetent. So, when you go see your honey, you guys can celebrate the good news (that Im sure you will have by then!) TOGETHER!
Im still waiting with you brother...im sure we are BOTH gonna get some good news soon.
-
I understand the waiting time at the embassy are already bad enough...but maybe you guys could get married there and try the direct consular filing instead? It would only eliminate 4-7 months of waiting for the I129F at the USCIS service center in the states, but at least it does cut off some time. I had hoped being in the service would give some kind of advantage to those of us going through this process, but I have found there is nothing to be gained from it...especially not sympathy from the government we serve.
-
Thats FANTASTIC news Justin!!! I hope it means something good for the rest of us! I was worried, because I wasnt seeing a lot of petitions approved with beneficiaries from Ukraine...so yours is definitley encouraging for me!!! Way to go, and good luck with the rest of the journey!
