I love interview questions. Thanks so much for posting them. I am sure that they probably vary from consul to consul, but I am compiling a list of "sample" questions to give to my honey, just so she can be kind of prepared at the interview. Thanks again!

Sounds like a seriously rough time Gary. I am very happy that things have started to return to normal for you. You and Luz are very lucky to have such a strong bond to withstand this kind of thing despite the distance between you! We all missed you here on VJ, and we are all glad to have you back!!

Doesn't anyone else realize that Matako is Majizee?
DON'T FEED THE TROLL!!!!
kitkat! I totally thought that too!!! Majizee's posts were very similar to these posts! Isnt there some way to see if a poster has changed thier screen name? Anyway, I really hope that it IS the same person, because both Matako and Majizee have beneficiaries from Ukraine, and I dont want them giving the rest of us a bad name!
Matako, I wish you a long wait in security checks and AR at the NVC.

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and I must say, this site makes me feel so much better and less depressed. When I saw Gary C's timeline, I felt so relieved! Not that I feel happy because it's taking their petition so long to be processed. No, no no! PLEASE DON'T GET ME WRONG! All I am saying is that Gary's timeline is so much similar to mine. All this time, I've been so depressed because I've been seeing comments from people saying how fast their petition were moving and mine was kinda' like in limbo. Now, I don't feel like my petition's gonna go down the drain! Here's my timeline:
March 10' 06 - Filed Petition
March 13 '06 - USCIS received Petition
August 05 '06 - Petition Approved by USCIS
October 04 '06 - NVC received our Petition
October 06 '06 - NVC sent Petition to Manila
Current status: No idea.
You see, there's like a long lag in between each process and I'm in panic all the time. I would cry non-stop and I was like "What's wrong with our papers? Why is it taking longer than the others?" I thought I have an isolated case! And to think that I've known my fiance for over 2 years now and we are together 2 to 3 times a year. Everything is legit!
The worse thing about everything is that no one sends us email about anything! I've read here that some of you have gotten some sort of notification via email but in our case, we are always in the dark. That made things harder for us. We had to call the USCIS and the NVC back and forth to know what's going on. And honestly, the lawyer we got don't know squat! He just tells us that it's out of his control. I feel really duped.
Anyways, now that the NVC said that they've sent the petition to Manila, we are once again waiting for something to happen and I must say, I'm about to die!
Oh, I have questions:
1. What does "touched" mean? I feel like a complete idiot but I really don't what you guys mean by that.
2. How many packet are we suppose to wait for? Some people say packet 3, some people say packet 4 and am I supposed to have recieved packets 1 & 2 before?
I hope you guys can help me. I am this close to being desperate.
Welcome to VJ Sinkhanna!
As you can see, there are big delays at all levels of this process, and a waiting a few months at each step is not uncommon. To answer you questions (to the best of my ability)
1) "touched" is when you see that your case has been worked on by logging into the USCIS website and seeing that the date of last activity has been changed. Everytime this date changes, it means that some kind of internal processing has taken place on your case, and you may recieve an update. (notice of RFE, or approval or etc.) However, you cannot track "touches" for YOUR case anymore, as you have already been approved at the USCIS level.
2) The packet you are waiting for now, is Packet 3. The embassy will send this to your partner, and this packet will include a checklist of all of the documents and items that must be acquired prior to the interview. After Packet 3 is returned to the satisfaction of the embassy, they will send Packet 4 with your interview date and so on. It is my understanding that Packet 1 was the initial petition package, and Packet 2 is the approved petition as it is sent to the Embassy.
Hope that helps, and you have a speedy process the rest of the way! (Im still waiting on NVC.

Thanks Johnta!
That really does make me feel just a little bit better. My approval was 9/11 and I am waiting on my KEV number too (as we are a couple from Ukraine too!). I am going to go to the Post Office now as you have given me some hope that the NVC does not know what they are talking about, and they have actually recieved and sent my case to Kiev!
Gary!!! You are still here!!! Glad to see you!!! Please dont leave us here at the VJ family! You and Luz are really important to all of us!
:D

Fantastic! LIFE at the NVC!!!

Mine was approved on Sept. 19 and NVC just received the case on Oct. 10. Sucks to be on the slow plane.
This process is a F%#%#% MESS!!! I was approved 9/20/06 and NVC has not received my petition yet I'm seeing many NOA2 approvals from the SAME CSC being sent and completed as it should. Why does this process have so many faults and descrepencies!!!! I thought I was DONE with CSC! I was told NVC is smooth sailing. I don't know about others, but I plan to raise qiestions on the process! Surely not for me but for the poor petitioners after. This is just not the way to treat a United States Citizen!!!!
AMEN brother!!! I have no clue what the holdup is either, and nobody at USCIS or NVC can give me any kind of explanation other than "wait". My congressman helped me when my case was in limbo at the CSC, I think I will give his office a call again tomorrow and see if they can do anything else.

Just called NVC AGAIN. 9/11 approval...still not recieved.
Nice young girl on the phone though, she told me to check back in "about a week". Same story every time I call. *sigh*

I was approved on sept. 19 and NVC received my case on Oct. 10
SWEET!!! I hope that means that a bunch of petitions from September made it there this week!!! Congrats to you btw!!

Just a Q for my own I.
In the experience of VJ long-haulers, how does the NVC behave around the December holidays? Is there a last-minute push to try to get the desks cleared off a bit? Do they tend to get sluggish and postpone until after January 1? Or do they continue at the same plodding old pace?
Some well-meaning soul is bound to come back with "Oh, don't worry about it", so I should mention I'm not worried in the slightest. I'm just generally curious about how the Machine works.
Alice
It seems like they are on holiday right now!!! NOTHING is getting done there at the NVC!!!!

I even asked: I am sure you want to be helpful because you say you do. Please tell me how you can be helpful? She was dumbfounded when she realized she couldn't. What is the point? Why does it take 30-60 days just to mail something?
LOL!!!
Psychology!!!! "No, no....you really do want to help me! Trust me, you do!" I am totally going to try this approach!!!

It seems that something out of the ordinary (who really knows what that is anyway?) is going on between CSC and the NVC. Looking at previous timelines and posts, the shipment of approved petitions through the NVC was really quick. It kind of seemed like it was a clearing house of sorts....get 'em in and get 'em out as quickly as possilbe. Now, there are a LOT of us who are waiting with early September approvals.
VJ scares me sometimes, because I sit here and read about the horror stories of being stuck in AR or other problems that cause delays. The common theme is "no two cases are alike"....well I guess there are alot of "alike" cases in that there are so many of us waiting from early September!!!
All I can do is hope that this is "normal" and that everything is going to show up at NVC for all of us at once and get shipped out just as quickly!
The woman on the phone today when I called the NVC told me that "about four weeks" is normal time to wait for them to recieve a case from CSC...it has been a month.
Everybody stay strong....because its about all we can do for now!
-
If your NOA2 says that the petition was forwarded directly to the embassy, then that is where it went. If your NOA2 says that it was sent to the NVC, then that is where it went. SOME petitions are being sent directly to the conulates overseas, but most it seems are still going through NVC. Not everyone's NOA2's are worded exactly the same way, so take a second look and see what yours says.
Good luck everybody!!!

I laughed.
...on the Blue cover sheet......it stated, " This RFE MUST be returned by December 23rd" !!!!!!!!!
yah like I think I'll just leave this sitting around the house for another 2 more months!!!!!!!!!
LOL
Hope it goes REALLY fast for you now!!! (Then you can join the rest of us waiting to get in the door at NVC!!!
)

Sent e-mail on the 8th concerning case status, Received e-mail from NVC last night and reply was the case has been sent to the Embassy in Bangkok. Now the ball really begins to roll.
what the heck is going on at NVC??? your NOA2 is Sept. 14 and your stuff is on the way to the embassy, but today my email from NVC says they still dont have my case and my NOA2 is Sept. 11!!! I dont mind waiting a little bit longer, but this part of the process is becoming really frustrating! Okay, enough of my complaining....CONGRATS to you, and I wish you a speedy process on the rest of your journey!!!
I-129F petition for K-1
in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures

I didnt include any thing about her other than what was asked on the G325 form. I was approved in September without getting an RFE for her BC. I think I saw somewhere on another thread that the requirements changed, and now a copy of beneficiaries BC is required? Anybody confirm that?
Anyway, I hope you get through it soon. Good luck!
