We have been approved! The visa should be in hand in a few days. I have been stuck at work so I havent been able to keep up with the posts as much as I would've liked. I appreciate the support and generosity of information you've all shared here. I hope we all get through this together, despite any setbacks.

If it's one thing I know as an American is that most government employees will do the bare minimum. This is why we have to be proactive like calling the NVC, checking to see if your visa has arrived. Not so much out of impatience but to prepare us to deal with the dreaded social security office, DMV, etc, later on, lol. Well done on that, Laurel. I'm relieved you guys got the visa in hand!

Next for us is trying to find out the fastest way to get an Employment authorization document and advanced parole (EAD and AP) after he enters and we marry.

October 20th -Visa Issued!
October 25th -Visa In Hand!!
October 30th -Flight to USA!!!
He will be here in 5 days.
Wooo! We are beyond excited!

Good luck today! I hope we start hearing about a lot more approvals soon from everyone.Our NOA2 is dated October 12 so it's probably still a bit too early for NVC to have it, but I've called a few times today and gotten an automated response that all of the representatives are busy guess I'll just have to try a bit earlier in the day tomorrow haha.

Yay! My fiance got his VISA in hand today . . . . though just saying: the Cargo Trans never called or emailed as they were supposed to do. We had our interview on October 11th, and this was way over the time it should have been here. So he went over to the office, and it was just sitting there! Sometimes, efficiency is not shown by these people.
Anyway, I am super happy because we had booked out tickets for this Friday.
For everyone still waiting, the time will pass quickly. I know it sure did for us. Besides, if it takes a few weeks longer here or there, it won't matter once you're finally together again.

I can't believe my guy's interview day is here. It'is 1 hour and 10 minutes...?
He booked a ticket for November 16. We're hoping he can enter with a K1. Fingers crossed!!!!

Oh no we've already had our interview and were approved. CEAC has us in the Issued phase, so we are just waiting for the passport. I was just letting her know that I understood where she was as far as nervous, because I don't think a single petitioner has a "normal" case.

I am so happy for you guys, but yes, I understand the worry. Our doctor told us that after my fiance went to the psychiatrist, they would call us and tell us whether they were sending the medical packet to the embassy or if they would give it to us.
So we waited and called, etc. They finally told us they had sent the medical packet to the embassy, making me freak out. I called the embassy to make sure it had arrived, and they told us it had. I asked why they had sent the medical packet to the embassy instead of giving it to us. The guy said. . . .uh, when something is "different" they send it to us. Talk about nervous!

We got approved today! Good luck to you all and best wishes!
Now we move to the next step, buy plane tickets and prepare for marriage, etc..

we all waiting and waiting, so many feelings, dreams, I am wondering how it will be when the real life starts?

It has been successful! I wrote this post because I spent lots and lots of time getting to know him! If was angry at me, he never let on. This is a man who knows I work 12 -15 hours a day now and he helps me around the house and I have no problem making sure he has his native soup and "swallow". It is about sacrifice and if neither of us want to look at each others sacrifices.. then we literally blind or really really selfish.

Spend time cooking from You Tube videos: Egusi, Vegetable or Stew before he gets here. (do not make him eat American! come on now!) A clear budget on finances and being able to communicate about it. If you can master the talk of money and food... and don't be surprised if you have to teach him how to hug and kiss! My husband had really worked hard at learning me. But, I am also considered an IRON LADY.. and that I guess is easier for him to handle (or so he says). Most men wont do well if you are a DRAMA QUEEN.

Haha! This was sweet! I also get a little concerned when my email inbox isn't full of replies to this forum. If the moderators keep this forum open after a certain point, then I'd like to continue using it to update, however when it comes to AOS, we may all be doing it at different times (for a variety of reasons) and may not be able to accurately reflect timelines as a forum specifically for filing AOS in a specific month. Other than that part, I think it would be fun to continue updating here. I like our little July group... even when things get a little awkward (though not often). We each bring something unique to the table... except why we're here to begin with.

Every time I looked at every timeline for Nigeria its took 5 months minimum from what I have reviewed by others.
Mine seems to be going so FAST according to the current estimations!!!!! OMG really? I might be able to get married before Christmas! I cant contain my excitement so I had to post!!

Likely packet 4. Some folks in other forums have acknowledge that the packet 3 usually require you to fill out certain things and return to the embassy before they send you the packet 4. Also, that some embassies don't do a Packet 3 and that you'll have to take the packet 4 documents required to the embassy on interview day. The email I received from the embassy in Ethiopia stated Packet 4. So it leads me to the fact that they don't have a packet 3. In the country forum, it had stated that you will need that packet 4 email or mail to be allowed into the embassy irrespective of having already booked an interview. So I had to time it based on the timeline of people before us and it took them approx. 2-3 weeks from when their cases got to the embassy to get the packet 4 letter. So our interview is in less than 3 weeks. Some got their letters just a week before their interviews. Good timing.

Visit your bank and ask them to print all year statements for you, they will do it and you save time and printer tint

I received my NOA2 on September 2. Got my NVC case number on September 15. NVC status says ready since September 23. My fiancé have not received anything from
Madrid. Does anyone have experience with Madrid? I know each consulate does things differently. Any suggestion or advice?

For the folks calling NVC, we had a 9/13 NOA2 and our case was updated and received a case number yesterday. So I would def say keep calling to see if it's updated, average time seems to be around 2 weeks to NVC.

Quick question guys:
My NVC visa status changed to "In Transit" and followed by a message that says: "Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center."
That does not mean they are assigning the date for my interview, correct?
I still have to fill out the DS-160,pay for fees and schedule the interview on my own. Can somebody help?
