To be honest I think the idea is wrong and that Visa Journey is grouping the forum categories in a nonsensbile manner..
I'm still confused as to why there is a distinction since the title is AOS filers in a category of family since the AOS basis is family for all entry visa types.
 
The adjustment of status category for all of us is due to a USC or otherwise qualifying family member, regardless of entry visa, is it not?
 
The K visa is a non-immigrant visa and is not processed as an immigrant visa when you enter, you've got 90 days to marry the spouse who petitioned for you to gain eligibility for entry with dual intent;  and furthermore submit AOS on basis of USC spouse. I get that if you submit within the require period the required document sand processing is slightly different (e.g. if you wait too long you two will have to submit the i-130 as well as having already done the i-129 petition with your AOS app) . While that is a small distinction the adjustment of status category is still family which is why I'm confused as to why the focus of family is on the entry visa, since the entry visa has very little to do with it.
 
Given the way other areas of the forum are categorized, I'd expect that the type of AOS petition (based on family member petition here) would define the forum, not the entry visa? 

So got this today.. Then interview on Tuesday.. Thank God this is almost over..
 

Hello everyone! Have been super busy with a new baby, and moving to a new house - crazy crazy for us - but I did want to pop in to let everyone know that my kids' K2-AOS have had the EAD (and hopefully the AP too) approved today. Got the email notifications that Card is Under Production for them both, and the USCIS website has been updated as well!

For context we live in the Inland Empire (SoCal).
 
It went very well and was much easier than I had anticipated. For background, my husband immigrated using a K1 visa after a whirlwind romance  The interview was conversational, she asked how we met (name of the website since we met online), when we met in person, what we did on our first date, when we got engaged, and did we live together before we got married. She told us that based on our story she thought we were legit and we were approved right then and there. Never asked for photos, affidavits, proof of joint finances, etc.
 
She did mention that some of her coworkers do individual interviews with each person, and it seemed like they decide this on a case by case basis. For example, my uncle also recently got married while his wife was here on a tourist visa from the Philippines. They met in the Philippines because they are from the same neighborhood and recently started dating (we found out about 6 months before they got married). My aunt told me in addition to providing proof with pictures and joint finances, the interviewer also asked for the names of all people in the photographs and asked if she knew what job/career everyone living in the same house had (they live with my other uncle and my grandparents). They were much more prepared than we were (lots more pictures, all joint finances and she is pregnant if that counts) and also got approved.

Had our interview today and got approved! Never got approval for the EAD and honestly I think because they had our interview scheduled already they just decided to let the EAD go.

The lady @ USCIS customer service said that it is likely that you will simply get decision on the EAD before the request is responded to, however if it already was destined to take more than 90 this request will certainly help.
 
I felt comfortable making the request when it was indicated that it will not affect the processing for myself and others, and that getting close to the stated time frame was a valid reason. Their goal is to get a decision on all EADs within 90 days unless there are circumstances that require otherwise.

We got our NOA in the mail today for the approved EAD and AP. We are not able to view those cases online so it was definitely a pleasant surprise.  The notice was dated May 16. Our filing date was Feb 27.

we submitted our package on March 14th after that we got RFIE for I485 concerning birth certificate. Which we already submitted so we sent it again and they received our response on April 11th.
after following the discussion here I figured we'll have to reset the time to 4/11 . But to my surprise I got a notification today (77 days after the original package submitting) saying that new EAD card is being produced.
 
very excited here and I hope our timeline can help you figuring out yours.

so we applied in February but papers were rejected and we had to resubmit it on march 14th. Then we got RFIE for birth certificate (which was included in the package. Weird!)

After 98 days waiting for my EAD a new card is being produced.
And my I-485 is ready to be scheduled since 7th of April.

Online case status for each is: Fingerprint Received, Received and Received respectively as at day 80.
