  1. Have you opened an online account with Social Security. There is an option to replace SS cards.
  2. Thank you for that great input. I will keep your name in mind the next time this subject comes up....there is no better evidence than personal experience.
  3. As of Feb 7, you'll be out of status and removable unless you can produce that I-797 notice of receipt for the I-485. An ID won't help if you are questioned and/or detained by ICE.
  4. They, almost immediately, received an RFE for their I-864 and submitted evidence in June 2024. Both the I-130 and I-485 were approved today with no interview.
  5. I would expect there to be tighter monitoring by CBP. I would not fly without solid proof of authorized stay. and the OP does not possess a Real ID......
  6. Upon filing a proper I-485, a person is granted "authorized stay" in the US until the I-485 has been adjudicated. To my knowledge, that hasn't changed yet.
  7. That sounds about right. The fact is that you don't have proof of having submitted a PROPER I-485.
  8. I would not travel without the official I-797 from USCIS. Otherwise, although unlikely, you could be detained until getting proof of having submitted a proper I-485. The letter from an attorney is worthless.
  9. Only at their discretion. If the case gets to the consulate and they refuse to hold it, the entire case could be in jeopardy of a restart. The NVC process, on the other hand, allows lengthy holds and delays.
  10. Normal. In 2019, we received the receipt and extension letters in same envelope within a week......a week or 2 later, wife received biometrics appointment letter.
  11. There are countless examples where NVC has informed applicants that they must contact them once a year.....not that they must complete the visa within a year. There are also examples where couple held their cases at NVC for years....by contacting NVC once a year.
  12. I would contact NVC and inform them that you want to hold the case. In theory, they can hold the case there indefinitely as long as you contact them once a year. There are cases in which this has been done. Note: Had this been a K-1, it could NOT be stopped at NVC.

  14. Some do....like Montreal. You can always ask other consulates when asking if they will accept the case.

  16. ***Topic split to new thread***
  17. Time to COMPLETELY cut ties, and seek happiness for yourself. I see nothing positive for having met with her.
  18. Yes. Patience is the key for the US immigration process. You can ask other consulates to accept the case, but I think legal entry would be required.
  19. Secondary evidence......not really an issue.
  20. Timeline shows US entry via spousal visa in September 2020.
  21. The number of non-immediate relative family based visas is capped every year....and there are thousands of people already in line.
  22. He could just file under the general provision option (5 year rule)....not as spouse of a US citizen (3 year rule). That eliminates having to provide all the marriage evidence. Looks like he will be able to file in September.
  23. There is another option: Uganda -OR- 2. Submit a written request to the Director of Interpol, located at Plot 12 Mabua Road Kololo, PO BOX 43003, Kampala. The request must contain an explanation as to the need for the certificate, photocopies of the biodata pages of the passport for non-citizens and National ID for citizens, and fingerprints must be taken from Interpol Kololo. Processing time is approximately two (2) weeks. Certified Copies: There are no certified copies Alternate Documents: There are no alternate documents. Exceptions: There are no exceptions. Comments: Although Certificates of Good Conduct are valid for only 6 months according to Interpol, they are valid for two years for U.S. immigrant visa purposes.
  24. The "expert" on MSNBC is ranting about how this is going to raise prices....even after both Canada and Mexico have announced they are bolstering their borders and delaying tariffs. Even I can see that, at this point, this is not a trade war with Canada and Mexico. It is a war against illegal entry and illegal drugs.
  25. @Ottox CURRENT annual income is king....not what was reported in past years. Current annual income is calculated as follows for an employee: Gross income from most recent pay stub multiplied by the number of pay periods per 12 months. Example: If his gross income from January pay stub is $4000, then, right now, current annual income is $48,000. As stated by @Edward and Jaycel, that information will be needed at the NVC stage.
