Just filed our N-400 with I-751 pending. Good luck, everyone! 

Hi, everyone! Just popping in for an update. Filed our I-751 in March, missed biometrics appointment in April (I never got the letter), reschedulede biometrics in August (after begging for an appointment over the phone with an immigration officer), and since August 21 my status has remained in the "ready to schedule your interview" status. Hoping to get my card before our planned travels in February 2020. Fingers crossed! 

Hello everyone! Is there an average number of days/weeks from the moment you receive your 18-month extension letter to when you receive your biometrics appointment? Our USPS says we had mail from USCIS two Fridays ago but we never got it. My husband filed a case with them so they can investigate where it went. My timeline is below for reference. Thank you so much!

I was also having issues putting in my case number from the NOA1 using the egov.uscis.gov site, but when I tried it on myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov it worked! Hopefully it'll do the same for you.

Update: We got our NOA and 18-month extension letter in the mail today, 7 days after our packet got delivered to Phoenix. Yay!

Hello everyone! I got my receipt number today, five days after I-751 was delivered to Phoenix. I got a MSC receipt number.

First of all, congratulations and good luck to everyone with upcoming interview dates already received, visas already approved, and flights already made. 

SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER Update: (please refer to my signature below for further context):

So 3 weeks after POE and no social security card yet, I went to a physical office (the SS hotline is USELESS you guys) and attempted to apply in person. The staff then informed me that they only start processing the social security numbers of new immigrants 21 WORKING days after POE, so I had to go back by then to begin my application. On the 21st working day after my POE I went back and applied, and the staff told me that someone from the immigration apparently already started processing my number but somehow left it unfinished for some reason (very common occurrence). He then told me that an immigration officer (not sure if this was the airport officer or someone else) inputted my names wrong (I have a really long name) and got my first name and middle name mixed up or something. So then they would have to wait for immigration to clear the social security office's application for me for my number to be processed. He said it would take 4-6 weeks, but they actually issued mine only two weeks after my application. 

Another observation: In my state, you can't get a driver's license or learner's permit (or pretty much anything like bank accounts, etc) without a social security number. So you would have to carry your passport with you in case you go to bars and restaurants to drink or even get seated at bars with family/friends who will drink. I have tried using my green card, but it is not a standard ID that's accepted at bars and restaurants so just carry around your passport until you get your social security number (which will eventually make you get a driver's license, their standard ID here). Another option would be to get a state issued ID, although I'm not sure how to do that so you'd have to check with your state.

The officer just asked how long I've been married (I'm guessing so he knows what kind of permanent resident visa to give me) and that's about it. It's LAX, and the "harrassment level" at that airport (based on reviews here on visajourney and my experience) is pretty much nonexistent if you have the right documents with you. Good luck!

Hi, Saheed! So what generally happens your passport gets stamped at the embassy/consulate after the interview with IMMIGRANT VISA. Once at the Port of Entry, the officer decides whether to give you a CR or IR visa based on how long you have been married. For those married more than two years you need to present a marriage certificate if they ask for it, and then you automatically get a 10-year green card in your mail after a few weeks. Since I haven't been married two years, he gave me the CR visa which lasts two years, and which means I have to file to adjust my status in 2019 to get a regular 10-year green card.

Hi! We had a 3-hour layover before our final destination, and it was enough for us. We flew into the airport in the middle of the day (11ish) and we finished all the lining up for luggage and immigration around 1:15PM. I'm not sure if it would take longer though if say you fly in the afternoon or the busy evening...

Hi guys!!! It's been a while! 

So I entered the US via Los Angeles Airport (LAX) POE two days ago. I didn't have any troubles at all with the immigration. The officer at the counter basically took my packet and passport (and gave back my x-ray CD), then radioed for someone else to come pick me and my husband up and take us to secondary check. I was only asked when we got married--the rest of the time he was inside his tiny room inputting stuff on his computer. After a few minutes he emerged from said room with instructions about green card mail, etc. He gave me a CR1 visa since we haven't been married for two years upon my entry. 

I kinda hoped he would say the usual "Welcome to America!" final words, but he didn't which was a bit anti-climactic lol. He mumbled a short "welcome" and we were on our way out.

Yeah I was kinda confused at first about that visa bulletin too. But I got so confused that I just ended up blocking it out of my mind on purpose as I didn't understand anything from their tables lol

You know it's not the first time to be given contradicting information by a rep at NVC. I was told in March that we would get scheduled 'very fast... very soon', I was told two and a half weeks ago when they stopped scheduling April interviews, to actually call during the first week of April. So I'm not buying this ####### about them filling up slots quickly! So I will call Thursday night and see what answer I get. Also Monday I had called and asked if they were continuing to schedule for May and was told that they should continue up until the middle of the month, I was also told this yesterday (Tuesday); so I have not a clue to where this guy is getting this information. 

 

Thoughts anyone? 

I'm so sorry to hear this. You and your family do not deserve to be waiting this long. There's definitely something not right going on here with all these conflicting information. Maybe the phone rep you talked to had the information all wrong, or maybe he was just giving a generic response. 

Have you tried calling Cairo US Embassy directly? I am not sure how the protocol for DIRECTLY contacting the embassy works, but in my case I was able to establish mutual email communication with Tokyo  US Embassy 10 days before my interview. They had emailed to remind me to bring original documents, and I replied with some other clarifications which they were very happy to answer. Maybe you can call up US Cairo Embassy and explain to them the weird situation, or maybe ask them if they had indeed finished scheduling all interviews

My interview was this morning at 9.30am. I showed up at 8.15 and finished at 9.30!

 

I am going to update my timeline now and leave a review for the interview!

It took a week from case complete for NVC to schedule an interview date for me. However my US consulate is not really a high traffic one, hence the speedy scheduling. It all depends on where you will be interviewing and how busy they are at the moment. You will probably get a May interview date. Hang in there and good luck!

Hello everyone! I would like to officially finish my September I-130 Filers timetable by adding the date I got my visa in the mail (updated above). Thank you so much to everyone who has been instrumental in providing information throughout the entire process. Thanks to misshepburn for leading this thread and for all the info she provided , and thanks to onek for religiously updating everyone's timetables. 

To those who are still waiting for NOA2's, NVC approvals, and interview dates, I wish you all luck! Everyone will get there at some point. It's hard, but it will all be worth it in the end. Godspeed. 

Today, I got my passport back in the mail with my immigrant visa stamp on it. It has been two days since my interview at the embassy. 

FYI:   Review your visa stamp well for any errors in spelling or info. Also, on your visa you will most probably notice that your "IMMIGRANT VISA IV CASE NUMBER" will have an extra "01" or "02" at the end. For example, my NVC case number is TKY2016XXXXXX01 instead of the usual TKY2016XXXXXX. Do not panic as this is normal. Just some insider code they have or something and not a typo error.

NBI Clearance is what the US embassy will recognize, as that is the official police certificate from the Philippines. Good luck on your interview!
