I would guess that to get an RFE suggests someone has picked the application up to check it over - I know RFE's are a pain but the silverlining is that at least it is being looked at and suggests it os on the move... good luck

My husband knows he is the boss in our house...... he knows this because I told him he could be for today !

Hi...
I recall we got a RFE for my husbands divorce decree ....something we were convinced we had already included!
Hope it is a simple matter for you
-
My husband was divorced in WA - the document states "findings of facts and conclusions of law" and consists of 9 pages. The final page (page 9) have the signatures of everyone involved including the Judge.
When we submitted our petition we included the whole 9 pages though i certainly appreciate 50 pages seem a lot - my understanding is that each state differs from others.
Wishing you luck with your journey.....
-
I recall visiting the US myself whilst the petition was in process - I made sure I had a return ticket, a letter from my employer stating that I had a full time job and was expected to return on ( whatever date it was), I always travel light so my luggage consisted of one case, and my stay was only 2 weeks.
Good Luck

A few colleagues of mine ( when i was back in the UK) picked up that the BBC had a poll for the top 200 books ( in 2003)- we then picked the top 100 and tried to read our way through them - worked out quite well becuase it meant we didnt have to buy them all individually as we could swap with each other

Though a few people thought we were insane and hated the idea of reading something we didnt necessarily choose I found I appreciated some books much better second time around -

This is a report in newspaper about the sequence of events - interesting reading - and also begs the question about air traffic controllers role in this. It seems it was brought to attentions that the pilot had concerns over fuel.
-
This will be seen as pilots whining - until there is an instance of a close call because the plane didnt carry enough fuel.
I dont see why a pilot would make issue about this unless their are geniune concerns - after all he doesnt foot the bill for the fuel or get brownie points for having more fuel - however HE/SHE is considered responsible for the aircraft and who gets it in the neck when things go wrong?

I laughed so much! and I KNOW the fish and chip shop you refer to.....been there myself many times...
There is a difference between the chips - the american nearest version to our chips are what they refer to as Jojo's ....steak chips i think we would call them.....
I have yet to be served fish and chips that resemble anything like what we are use to in the UK ....a full fillet of fish (minus head) - battered in a flour, milk and egg mixture- then deep fried traditionally in lard.... I did manage to get myself a bottle of malt vinegar from fred meyers.

I so relate to your concerns!
I have had my EAD since December 07 and my resume was certainly getting me to interview stage ( ditched the traditional CV that we are so use to in the UK).
My role in the UK was that of a complaints management advisor - I would deal with angry irate customers and find solutions etc - bascially day to day use of tolerance, understanding, excellent customer service skills along with the ability to explain and maintain bad news messages. I also use to cover for holiday relief when managers would be away - as well as be part of a coaching team - a fairly well rounded customer services advisor.
However getting a job here has been very difficult - they clearly they like the resume ( getting the interviews) but my friend ( who is a manager and deals with hiring etc) suggested to me that perhaps my interviewing technique was a tad too formal for the interviewers tastes.... I live in a small town in WA where everybody knows everybody, and apparently this could be working against me. So many different elements to consider.
I have stopped my jobhunt right now as it looks like we are moving to Alaska - husband has a job offer there.
Keep plugging away - persistance pays ! The very best wishes to you.

Damien.... I think there is going to be more activity....after the NOA1 ( which is essentially just to let you know they have received your paperwork ), there is possible RFE ( request for further evidence) is anything needs clarification or is missing.... should all go fine you will receive paperwork telling you how to go about getting a medical in London and if i recall correctly several other documents for your interview ( London Embassy) - such as police reports for each country you have ever resided in for longer than 6 months, and the affadavit of support which I also beleive has to be presented at interview ..... it was quite some time ago so my memeory may have failed me in remembering everything - I am sure others will chip in with what I have missed.
The guides suggest that the beneficiary have a full and complete copy of all the paperwork submitted with the K1 application.

I can relate to your situation - my relationship with my daughter was fraught with blame, guilt etc.
Bottom line is - you have chosen this man as your husband, as long as you both leave the door open - then they will eventually come round. Leaving the door open requires a lot of biting of the tongue ( I know how hard this is - and I will admit I didnt always manage it.)
Living with an alcoholic means these children understand the art of manipulation as well as the usual playing one parent off against the other where parent s are divorced so you have it particularly hard.
They will find every thing they can to try and spoil things - kids always think things were better when there parents were together ( usually because they only remember the good things - and block out the memory of the bad times). Despite my and my ex's best attempts to make sure my daughter understood this was amicable and we needed her to understand the divorce wasnt her fault she admitted recently that she felt she was to blame ( totally irrational ).
Stay strong together - and talk to each other - find strength in each others firm commitment and love for each other.
It will probably be a bumpy ride.....but it will be worth it .
My daughter and I have a really good relationship now....though she remained in the UK being 21 and quite independant - she is now voicing an interest in coming to live with us.
Wishing all the best - and so sorry your having to go through this.

I seem to recall one of my colleagues saying he had an extension on his VWP entry when visiting the USA ( but this was some time ago) -
Here's an interesting link:

Hey Damien....where you from....missing "my twopenneth".....
( I am a Tyke myself)
-
"And a BIG what country you're coming from "
Not sure what your trying to say....perhaps you meant just to say VWP countries are not scrutinized so closely?
On a forum like this we can only share our experiences .... sorry if it the experiences dont fit in with a point your trying to make....we can only tell it as it happened to us personally.
Actually I have had a varying set of experiences ranging from very relaxed to having to answer a lot of questions - no two visits were ever the same ( I had visited 2 times per year over a 5 year period)

I Beleive things have changed recently regarding the medical aspect of AOS so I cannot help with that as my AOS was submitted Oct last year. Others may be able to chip in who have done that more recently.
I think the AOS can be submitted without any problems if the I-94 has expired.
The whole package is sent to Chicago ( if that is the correct office ) - and then it seems to be split up and sent off wherever it needs to be .....
Good Luck....
-
I had cause to email them once... you may get a automated replied advising they done respond but then a day later i got a actual relevant reply - I did include my LN reference in the email title space.... good luck
-
Hi Linzee,
I am sure it will happen for you - have you registered for regular update on the USCIS site?...though that too can be a little hit and miss - you can also check with your local field office to see what applications they currently say they are working on.
My aos went in october 2007 - and like you the ead came pretty quickly after biometrics - but the interview wasnt until June 2008 - so hang in there - it is going to happen !
Best wishes

I was also under the impression that some of the Iraqi refugees are people who assisted US troops despite putting their own lives and that of there families at risk.
-
Taking this slightly away from the main query - i read a really interesting book about the hotel trade " Hotel Babylon", it revolves around the goings on in a 5 star hotel in London .... since it was written they made a TV serial of it on the BBC - I also followed up by reading "Air Babylon" which also gave away the backroom goings on for cabin crew
-
Also there is oftens useful information on the Airlines websites...I have a puppy who will have to fly from WA to Alaska - the website gives all kind of information about what they will do and what they expect from the customer such as proof of vaccinations etc .... good luck
-
I seem to recall having to go to "snappy snaps" or some high street photo shop...... but it seems so long ago.
-
Many people have done this process without an attorney. I agree with previous posters - unless you have some "issues" you can do this yourself. You might find it useful just to read the guides and take a look at the example forms - also there are a great bunch of people in the UK regional forum who will be able to help you out with any queries specific to the UK.
I find that breaking down the tasks and dealing with the paperwork in small chunks helped me wade through what sometimes seemed like endless paperwork.
Good luck with your journey.

It just isnt worth taking the risk of a RFE, you just never know how pedantic someone may choose to be. I can see how convenient it would be... but personally I would get the proper passport pics for peace of mind.

Lol.... you assume a lot .... and we all know about assume and what it can do to you !
Third world countries?
What I am perceiving here is that you feel inadequate when having to deal with people who have literacy skills that YOU feel are far advanced than your own skills. Bottom line is, some people are more articulate than others, however one does not "dumb down" just because someone else is offended by it.
