  1. Congratulations! It is sometime since i was at Seattle (2007). It was my POE on K1 too.

As I recall I travelled direct from Heathrow to Seattle via BA( not sure if they still do that route). The staff at Seattle seemed ok... it was pretty uneventful.

I ended up at another counter where the all important envelope as eventually opened - it was a painless process.

At the time Seattle was my stop and I never needed to make a connection elsewhere - so I am afraid I am not sure where you would go from there but staff there are usualy helpful.

Sorry I can't help you more than that ... I too am in Alaska - wondering where you are heading ?

    Good Luck!

  2. I consider that bullshit. Establishing a policy against DUI and bribing police in a foreign country makes

you unsuitable for jury duty? What #######.

Establishing a policy against DUI would demonstrate this potential juror has a particular view on drinking and driving, which maybe considered prejudicial to his client - especially if the case involves driving whilst under the influence.

  3. Strange! My wife was able to get my name on everything. Electric, T-Mobile, DirectTV, Time Warner Cable, Added my name to her bank accounts and Auto Isurance Policy. I even got a seperate letter from the landlord stating that I was an added tenant to the rental aggreement.

You all need to have a threatening tone when you speak to the customer support people. Being nice doesn't work with them as nobody wants un-necessary paperwork.

    Good Luck.

Woudn't necessaily agree with threatening tone advice... having worked in customer services, I can tell you that I was more inclined to go the "extra mile" for a customer who was polite and willing to try and work with me on a problem. I might be they have a particular policy on this - I would explain to whoever you speak to the reason for wanting this - if they seemed unable to help I would ask to speak to a supervisor.

I too did not have any utility bills to send to USCIS - I did explain on the cover letter why this was the case, if you are able to provide written proof from the utility companies I would send that ( maybe get them to send a letter advising that they do not add names or offer the option to have joint accounts).

    Good luck with your journey.

  4. congrats. how was it?

    Well...it was most bizarre!

When we received the letter to go to interview my husband called the field office - he explained our situation, bush alaska, expenses incurred (flights are pretty expensive and hotel accommodation because we can't do the thing in one day). The person he spoke to sounded sympathetic and told him we could come in as near to the appointment date as we could - exactly the same advice for biometrics.

So we tried to call the field office a day or two before we left but was unable to reach anyone so we made arrangements.

When we arrived we handed in the letter and waited. A short time later a lady appeared and advised that she wasn't sure anyone would be able to do the interview but she would see what could be done. Wasn't too happy at this stage.

A short time after that a gentleman appeared in the waiting room and asked why we were there - we started to tell the saga and he said he didn't understand why we had an appointment letter -he was adjudicating the file now and he seemed to be surprised we had received a letter!

I am not sure exactly how this could happen but he was friendly and helpful - I expressed concerns that I had because I thought I had covered all the requirements and was disappointed at getting the letter. He apparently was perfectly happy with package and was using it to train an employee.

He took my passport away and stamped it with a temporary stamp - all without actually being interviewed. I couldn't beleive it after all the stressing I had done - searching for more proof.

I am glad it is all over for a while - but I would still advise better to be safe than sorry - if you get a letter to interview gather as much evidence as you can.

  5. I received form i797e (request for more evidence) on Oct.1 and had until nov.14 to resend with more evidence of residency but I have lost the form! Luckily I have a copy of it but I'm pretty sure Im pretty sure the original form has to be sent. Can I send the copy?or is there time to request for another form? I'm also worried about the evidence were gonna send it may not be enough.

When we filed i751 we sent:

Joint taxes for the last 2 yrs

Joint bank statements for the last 18 months

    Copies of pictures

I knew it was a long shot of getting approved since we both lived with our parents for the last two years and have little evidence.

This is what I'm sending with my RFE:

Bills such as target, macys, best buy having same adress

Mail from the vet. With both our names together. We have 3 dogs

We went to Colorado this past may so I'm sending our ticket stubs with our name on it.

I'm planning on sending more pictures but detailed I'm just not sure if to send photocopies or origals.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated. I spend hrs reading all the threads and I'm happy I've found a place where every body helps every one and I'm glad to help anyone too :) thank you

Have a look on the copy to see if it tells you to send original or copy... they usually specify on the notice.

I bet you have put the original some where safe - I would suggest having a good search through all your paperwork ( I know I keep all this stuff in one place but after dealing with USCIS for to ROC process there is a huge amount of pages that look the same NOA letters BIO letters - they all have the same heading so you may have simply passed it over thinking it was something else.)

I am surmising from your remarks they are asking for further evidence specifically of residency rather than anything else? The notice actually states this ?

I would suggest going through everything with a toothcomb and find anything that puts both of you at the same address together - greetings cards comes to mind immmediately because I am looking myself for as much extra that I can take for my interview next week and I found some cards adresses to both of us.

I hope others will be able to add suggestions - it helps to get as many ideas as possible. Good Luck !

  6. I am sorry I can't think of anything off hand - I too have been called for interview so I understand how you are feeling right now.

I felt pretty confident with what I sent though there are a few gaps - i dont drive so I have an ID card rather than a driving license. The vehicles out here in Bush Alaska don't get registered because they are not on the road system but we did purchase a boat and we had that registered to both of us. Have you purchased anything in joint names?

I am not keen on credit cards - and didn't submit any credit card info however we have since had many discussions about credit cards and I relented. Just this week we received joint credit cards so I will taking them to interview.

We have accommodation provided as part of his job - so I am not on the lease - all rent and utilities are removed from his pay before he receives it so I sent copy of lease - I will be taking pay stubbs to prove it ( sadly it did not occur to me to include that in the package - i thought the cover letter would be self explantory). If you have submiited a letter from your Mother I don't know how else you could prove it unless she would be willing to povide you with the bills etc in her name?

I will be raking through all the cupboard over the next few days looking for ANYTHING that suggest joint ANYTHING... cards from his relatives etc - I also had a small part time seasonal job that I got paid for in one sum at the end of the job so I am going to get the banks statement which shows my deposit.

If it is any consolation I submitted paperwork wich shows my name as a beneficiary on his health insurance, savings account and work related benefits and still got called for interview.

I don't know if any of thse helps but I wish you well and good luck!

  7. Are you having to fly into Anchorage ? I'm curios myself for the fact we live in Dillingham, AK and we will be looking at around $500 R/T per person if we have to fly into Anchorage in case we get called for an interview.

    Hey Why Me,

Yes we have to go to Anchorage from Cold Bay.

Just a heads up in case this would be helpful - when called for biometrics they wanted me to go to Dutch Harbor which was a nightmare. Even though geographically it is nearer than Anchorage the actual logistics from Cold Bay to Dutch meant staying for several days because flying schedule to and from Cold Bay is limited. I called the USCIS in Anchorage and they told me I could go into Anchorage with the biometics letter and they would do that there.

I checked with the uscis site and Dillingham appears to be serviced by Anchorage so I think you will be best prepared for that - It is really a pain in the rear end for sure - I went on my own for Bios but if you plan to go together all I can suggest is to make a small vacation of it! When we get out of the city we tend to make the most of big city !! Not sure what things are like in Dillingham? I know it is a bigger community so you may have a few more facilities.

Hope all goes well in your journey !

  8. I am disappointed! Today I received a letter advising that we have an interview appointment. It is frustrating because we live in rural Alaska, having already had to spend over one thousand dollars for biometrics just for me ( involved staying in a hotel because of flight schedules )now we get to double the expense!!

OK rant over ...I was interested if anyone had any ROC interview experiences or advice to give?

    Thanks

  9. From what I understand about police certificates, you will probably need one from the year you lived in Sydney after your 16th birthday and then one from the time you lived in Melbourne.

Sydney and Melbourne are both in Australia ?.... if you have always lived in Australia you will need one from Australia.

I believe the above poster had it correct - you need a police certificate for each country you have lived in since the age of 16

  10. I am witing for a reschedule myself - my appointment is in a place that is difficult to get to unless I travel a couple of days before the appointment - and to make matters worse the hotel at the location is fully booked for a long time. I am hoping that I can have a reschedules appointment and to go to another destination - I received the appontment letter 10 days before the appointment and sent it back once I had established I couldnt get there.. will update you if i hear anything! good luck

  11. Me again!!! Well after some investigating it seems I may have to seek alternative options :

My appointment is to be 27 July at Dutch Harbor - however the flights from my location to dutch are limited - ( 3 per week). The letter stated this is temporary unit ( so i would guess USCIS send someone to be there when required?). The situation is such that my appointment time is 3pm for the tuesday and there is a flight on tuesday however it does not get me in to dutch until well after 4pm. This means I would have to be in Dutch a few days earlier ( the nearest flight before my appointment is the Monday)but have to be quick to catch the tuesday flight out of Dutch. Having checked the flights it now seems to be further complicated - this is peak season for fishing, tourist etc so I cannot get accommodation for those days s everywhere is booked!and likely to be so until the seasons comes to a close.

Is it possible to get the appointment location changed ? Has anyone sucessfully done Biometrics at alocatio other than the one nearest them?

  12. Yes, unless you are willing to travel a great distance. Logic would tell you your thoughts are spot on

Well ..received the appointment letter today - pretty expensive situation...appoinment in Dutch Harbor - however only 3 flights in a week to dutch harbor from my location, one happens to be on the very same day as the appointment but will get me there too late for the appointment ! so will have to fly to dutch harbor and hang out for 3 days before next flight out at $550( not to mention paying for accommodation for said days). A lot of inconvnience just for a set of fingerprints!!
