Biometrics done, now waiting for the interview notice.... How long do you guys think it will take? I'm ready!!!

I sent G1145 form with my application, but so far have not received any email or text message confirmation, only receipt and bio notice in mail, just wondering why...

Time till interview varies by office. As for the online/text messages... first you have to sign up online I think. Go the USCIS site here https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/portfolioCustomerRetrieve.do (if you haven't already done so) and follow the steps to be able to check your case status online. Then opt in for email/text notifications.

I'm guessing that my interview will be at the end of January but it's really just a guess. I'd love to get the letter and have them say "Come in tomorrow!"

alacranita .. you are right. I asked another VJ member who practically lives in my backyard and he said his oath was at SUNY Brockport (about half an hour outside of Rochester). He also did biometrics and his interview in Buffalo.

And alacranita... the Rochester office only opens one day a week so we get sent to Buffalo for everything but I hadn't thought about the oath ceremony. I'm actually going to be in the Buffalo office on Wednesday (a friend of mine has her interview and I'm going for moral support). I'll either get her to ask or ask myself when I'm there.

Nice to see cases progressing.

Just to reiteralte, submit copies of all the requested documents WITH your application. Take the originals to your interview. Only send them what is asked for.

Then spend some time looking through the threads here. It is suggested that you also bring secondary evidence to the interview and by doing some research you will find lots and lots of examples of what you can bring.

I've seen two different answers to this question.

The first is to simply apply for a passport. You'll need a birth certificate for this of course.

Yeah sionnach, I agree with you. Not sure why some get this and some don't. Especially since I'm under the impression that you have to take these things anyway. Perhaps it has something to do with the local offices? No clue. Anyway ... any attention from USCIS is good, lol. Congrats. Here's hoping for interview dates for us all soon.

It's nice to see some progress on the board and have some of the dates filled in on the list. For me, the waiting game has always been the hardest part and seeing others make progress makes things a little easier. I'm looking forward to hearing back from those of us with those lovely January interviews.

I was also place inline for an interview today so updating as well.

lc13 ... welcome to the group! I'm sorry, but I don't know if this is possible. You could call the info line and ask, or perhaps ask when you go for your biometrics. Lots of people on here try for early biometrics so you could simply both go to whomever's interview is first and see if they will do them together. The advice that has been given is to go early if you want to try that though. Some offices do it, and some won't. The one thing that comes to mind though, is that whenever you do things like change appointment dates with USCIS, you run the risk of having significant delays. If delays don't matter to you, then I'd say go ahead and try. I can see how it would be nice for you to take your oath together, especially.

Hi all - will apply for my wife in February 7, 90 days before her Green Card date is 5/5/12. Have a couple questions:

1. If it's a PO box how did you send a tracking number (live in NYC so will send to Dallas)?

2. What is the A# that they want us to write on the form (The USCIS # on her green card or the A# that came on her K1 application). I just realized that when I applied for her ROC I used the A# assigned on her K1 and now the USCIS number that was on her 2 year conditional green card. They are book very different.

Hi DND .. sorry did not notice this before. First off - you are asking this question in the wrong thread, lol, which is probably why nobody has addressed you. This is a thread for people who filed in November and many don't visit the thread unless they want to update their info. Regardless though ... I sent my package with signature confirmation. I have no idea how they do it, but they probably have to sign for packages when they go to collect the mail. As for the A# ... I don't remember having two ..but that doesn't necessarily mean that I didn't. Regardless I would write the number down that is on your wife's 10-year green card. But it also wouldn't hurt to call the information line to see if having two numbers is normal and/or posting a message in the ROC forum here on VisaJourney to see if anyone else has been given two numbers.

When filing under the three year option, you can assume that any question that asks for five year timelines should be regarded as a three year timeline. In other words, replace five for three.

What a great present! Yay!

It's not something we think about often, as most of us are immediately consumed with our own relationships and our own cases, but how very sad that there is currently no avenue for bringing a loved one to the US if you are in a same-sex relationship. I agree with hikegirl ... I'm happy they figured out a way to be together regardless of status.

So there has been much discussion about this sort of scenario recently, but this one seems to be the most severe. You can start by looking at these two threads:

Regardless, this is not a straight forward case and rather than give you misinformation, I would strongly suggest seeking the advice of a GOOD, REPUTABLE immigration lawyer. Being away for 7 years by itself would lead someone to say that he had given up his permanent residency and needed to start over. However, given that he's been back and paying taxes for nine years ... this may work in his favour. But there are so many unknowns. I'm assuming that he didn't have any problems renewing his green card in the past and now that it's up for renewal again soon, he's looking at citizenship instead.

Regardless, best advice I can give is ... do lots of independent research AND find a good lawyer.
