I believe you're not officially a citizen until after the oath ceremony. When my husband did his ceremony there were people outside offering passport applications and voter registration forms. Once you complete the oath ceremony you can go to the post office and apply for a passport, just keep in mind that they do keep your naturalization certificate (they eventually mail it back to you) so I would take it home and make a copy before handing it over

yup, had to wait about 40 minutes afterward but they gave me the appointment notice for the oath ceremony

Interview passed, oath ceremony in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wound up going to get one at city hall, quick and painless and won't have to worry!

I won't actually be at the interview, but yes I could send my passport with my husband for them to verify. Don't see why a birth certificate would be anymore legitimate than an actual passport

Yes, our I-751 was approved in June 2017 after 11 months. But in the interview letter they say to bring evidence from the last 3 years so I basically repllicated the I-751 file (with updated versions of everything)

Think I'll have to make the trip to downtown Boston to city hall and just get a print out. Thanks for the advice!

Basically it's a print out of a scanned certified copy...has all the relevant info with the stamp and everything...

I'm the USC and my spouse is LPR and has his interview next Monday (applying based on 3 years rule). In the interview letter it asks to bring originals of all supporting documents such as marriage and MY birth certificate. I realize that I only have a copy of my birth certificate, not the original. I was going to order one from VitalCheck but it's $70 and may not arrive on time. Anyone know if it's worth it? I sent in a copy with my husband's original I-751 and N-400 packet, and he brought a copy to his I-130 interview years ago and no one ever said anything. I don't see why this would be an issue. Anyone have any insight?

Congrats!!! did they ask to see your documents? we have our interview next Monday and i'm gathering all the documents I sent it with my I-751. Which I realize is probably overkill but better safe than sorry

Totally your right but I have to say that attitude is quite shocking given that many of us here have been waiting for years to fulfill our dream of becoming a citizen of this great country. Obviously no one can force you how to feel about it one way or another and it's your right but it's quite frustrating and insulting that someone who wants to get out and doesn't even want to become American goes through the process so quickly and isn't even appreciative 

I think the only part that is really faster is everything that happens before they send your case to the FO. You may get your biometrics faster and you will definitely get a lot of case updates, but once it goes to the FO it's waiting in line with everyone else. I filed a paper application in August for Boston FO and we already have our interview scheduled for the end of November whereas there are many online filers who have been waiting in line for months for their interviews. At the end of the day I think it doesn't make a huge difference either way

Hi VJers

My husband has his N400 interview on Nov 27th in Boston. We're assembling the documents that they asked for in the interview letter and among them they ask for "evidence" that we've been married for 3 years. In July 2016 we sent a TON of evidence for our I-751 and that was approved without RFE. However I don't know if we need as much as we previously sent and going through and getting updated versions of all of those documents would be a huge pain in the you know what. Here's what I originally sent (along with a couple of new things I plan to send):

 Copy of Permanent Resident Card (front and back)
 Notarized affidavit from my parents explaining living situation (we have been living with them since 2014 as we save money for a house)
 Copy of both driver’s licenses showing same address
 Copy of our joint 2014, 2015 and 2016 IRS tax transcripts (we will bring 2016 tax transcripts this time around)
 Copies of monthly bank statements from joint savings and checking accounts (I ordered these from now going back just till January 2017. Is that enough? For I-751 we sent in statements spanning 2014- mid 2016)
 Copy of letter from Bank of America stating that we are both authorized users and card holders on my father’s credit card account
 Reference letter from Bank of America stating that we share joint checking and savings

 Voided check from joint bank account
 Copies of our VISA credit cards showing same credit card number

 Credit card statements with both of our names from our CapitalOne card (the account was only opened 2 months ago though)
 Copy of 401K, health, life, dental, cancer, and accident insurance plans from our places of work (we now work for the same company but do we need to show this spanning last 3 years or will the ones from new employers suffice? do we need to resend the ones from last year even though neither of us work at those employers anymore)?

 Copy of joint health insurance cards and dental insurance cards

 Copy of whole life insurance with each other listed as beneficiary from Northwestern Mutual 
 Copies of Commerce car insurance bills showing both our names listed as operators (again, how far back do I have to go with these?)
 Copy of Verizon cell phone bills spanning duration of residence in the US (family plan)
 Copy of our airline reservations from vacations together
 Photos spanning the entirety of marriage with friends/family
 2 Notarized affidavits from my brother and our friend David attesting to our relationship (do we need to write new affidavits?)
 Copy of French lease + translation + translators certificate (all French documents were from 2012-2013 when we were living there)
 Copy of my French visa in my passport showing that I was living at our address in Dijon
 Copy of my French credit card from when we were living in France

Is this overkill to try and update all of these? Is there anything we should include that we don't have? Passport photos?

Depends on the office. I filed at Boston mid August and have my interview scheduled for Nov 27th. Boston is quite fast though, all depends on the volume at each office.

Only tip I can give is travel time, coming from north I got stuck on I-93. With no other altearnative, I had to park the car at assembly row, take orange line to Haymarket, and barely walked in the JFK building on time. I recommend doing that if you're also coming from north, parking is cheap at assembly. Give yourself enough time to get there. Good luck with your interview.

I guess it's always better to be over prepared than underprepared, so I guess he'll just bring all and any evidence. Thanks and will let you all know how it goes!

My husband has his interview for N400 in Boston on November 27th. He has not yet started studying the booklet that was given to him during his biometrics appointment but he is planning on starting soon (he already knows a lot of it being a history buff). I'm curious for those of you who have had interviews in Boston, what kinds of questions do they ask? Are they difficult? Are there a lot of them or do they just ask 1 or 2? Also, were the officers cordial in general?

In terms of documents to bring, once again USCIS asks to bring documents that establish we have been married for real for the last 3 years. I was planning on bringing all the evidence I sent with the I-751 (updated of course since all of that is about a year old), but that is a lot of documents and evidence. In your experience, what did they ask for in terms of evidence?
