That’s amazing!!!! Happy for you!!! I sent my docs 5 days after you and I am still in “fingerprints received “ status at WAC. Hopefully they work faster!

Ours was LIN. Didn’t expect it since LIN has the longest estimated timeline. We have not been checking but last night when i did, i was shocked. Had to double check if i put the correct case number. Haha.

But so thankful for the blessing. Just want to share to spread the positivity. Hope you get yours soon!

    Road to citizenship next!

  2. Hi! Same thing happened to my wife. Our car got broken into on our way to the SS office to apply for her SSN. Anyway, Philippine consulate asked for the NOA fro biometric to show proof she's still a filipino cotizen before we could apply for a new passport. Not knowing that we need a passport to gain access to USCIS. So we're thinking if we'd have to reschedule, which sucks because we'd have to wait for how many more days to get her IDSs. She doesnt have ANY LOCAL/US ID since we ddnt get to apply for her social security before the passport go lost. I just wanted to know what happened to your case? You think an affidavit of loss or anything that we can ask the consulate as her proof of identification would suffice?

    Thank you!

  3. Just want to know from OP how long it took for him to get visa.

Same situation here. :( GF interviewed Aug22. I became a dual citizen because I studied in the Philippines, didn't think i'd need a CENOMAR (completely forgot i was dual) so they asked for my CENOMAR. Soon after the interview, she went to NSO pasay to request it and said will be picked up friday, August 26. Also they asked for proof of relationship. (I honestly don't know why they didn't ask it from her at the window but anyways.) Sent those the same day of her interview. Last update at CEAC was Sept 1st then I inquired if they have received our documents on September 7th via email, they confirmed they received it and still my status is in AP and was updated same day 7th. It's going to 3rd week since interview date. I am starting to get worried since my cousin had the same issue where they asked for cenomar too and her visa came in after 3 months. Hoping ours will not be that long of a wait. :(

  4. Hi Jvc808! I am also a dual citizen and is about to start with the k1 visa process. I just want to ask, did you put both American and Filipino as your citizenship/nationality? Thank you and God bless!

Hi marlon429! I didn't mention that I was a dual citizen because US does not recognize dual citizenship.

Honestly, when we were starting the process and going over questions that they might ask my gf during the interview, it didn't even dawn on me that I was a dual citizen. haha!

    Goodluck with your application!

  5. Thanks, JVC for the tip!! While reading this, our soon-to-be wedding march is being played on spotify which makes me even more excited :) We have almost the same status. My fiance recently went back to Miami after graduating LPN here in the Ph. We have been together since highschool. Last May, we both got our CENOMARs. My question is, if I get to be interviewed say October or ealier, will our CENOMAR still be valid? Also, given that you just graduated and I assume you had to look for a job or is still looking for a job, did you use a co-sponsor? If not, are you now employed? Sorry I have so much questions but this made me ecstatic... there's hope!! :)

    Hi Keithgerone!

The validity of Cenomar I believe is 6 months.

As for a job, I just got back here in Hawaii last July 2nd and I am still in the process of turning in my credentials to CGFNS and board of nursing here in Hawaii so I have not taken my NCLEX yet but I did apply for my old job, the one i resigned from before i left and they hired me last July 19th however I will officially start work tomorrow. :) The CO asked my fiancee if I have a job and she said yes and that I will start the next day. I say, at least find a part time job? So that when they ask, you can say that your fiance is currently working to make your case stronger.

As for co-sponsor, my mom and brother provided affidavit of support but then again, they never asked for those documents.

Goodluck with everything. Waiting is the hardest part so keep yourself busy. :)

    ALOHA!

  6. Aloha! I just wanted to share our journey.

    Background:

My fiancee and I have been together for 12 years. 4 years ago, I decided to go back to the philippines to study nursing. I was living with my then girlfriend all through out that 4 years.

    K1 process:

I proposed to her on March 26, 2016. I filed the petition on April 17th and got the NOA 2 on June 28th. NVC case number was received on June 22nd and the interview was done today, August 22nd and was approved but given form 221(g) for they need a cenomar from me, the petitioner. In our case, I am the US citizen but since i went to school in the Philippines, i applied for a dual citizenship and they said that I was suppose to provide a cenomar also. They instructed my fiancee to go to the PASAY NSO to request for a cenomar for me and the embassy will pick it up themselves. Problem solved. :)

Anyways, I just wanted to let others know if they don't already know (like i didn't haha) Especially the petitioners who are for some reason are dual citizens.

Also they never asked for the affidavit of support!

    GOODLUCK FELLOW VJs!

  7. Hello fellow VJ peeps!

I filed the petition for my GF last april and received our NOA 2 last month. I am a student and just graduated last month. I just graduated last month also and just got back here in hawaii a week ago and already looking for a job to help with the fees for my fiance.

Now my mom is the one providing the affidavit of support for my fiance. And due to vacations and emergency leave since my aunt died, my mom makes 100% above poverty line but barely missed the 125% poverty line needed for adjustment of status.

Now the question is, if we will be blessed and approved K1 visa, get married before the 90th day and apply for adjustment of status, is it a must for my mom to provide again the affidavit of support? I mean, whoever provides the I-134 has to provide also the I-864??

I started to worry but also feeling positive still since I'm getting a job soon. Please help. Thanks guys!!

  8. USEM does accept co-sponsors with the K-1 visa, but they are not required to accept co-sponsors. When they do consider a co-sponsor with the K-1 visa USEM looks for the co-sponsor to be a close relative (parents, siblings).

Being you are in the Philippines, why not get married then file the IR/CR-1 visa (spouse), embassy is required to accept a qualified co-sponsor, any qualified co-sponsor, with the immigrant visa.

    Thanks for the reply Hank!

I'm sorry for not giving any background info. We are in a same-sex relationship for 12years now. I was working for 6 years and making abour $30,000 a year but i decided to go back here in the Philippines to study Nursing. Same-sex marriage in Hawaii was approved the year I left to go to school. Haha. Anyways, I was hoping to bring my girlfriend with me back home. I prepared all the documents needed and are ready to be sent with my mom more than willing to help out but when I saw online that MANILA US EMBASSY DOES NOT ACCEPT co-sponsorship, i had second thoughts.

but now seeing other posts and even blogs from the U.S Embassy here in the Philippines, I feel like I'd just have to take the risk and gamble everything and just hope and pray that they would consider. :)

  9. Good day to all!

I just wanted to ask for update if its ok? I am in the same situation also. I am graduating in May and will go back to Hawaii after, I want to petition my long time gf. I have been prepping all requirements and all of a sudden I read that Manila Embassy does not allow co-sponsorship. :(

    Thank you!

  10. I am student and a US citizen who have been in a same-sex relationship for 12 years. I would like to bring my girlfriend to the US. I moved to the Philippines almost 4 years ago to study and I am now living with my girlfriend. I am graduating soon that’s why I am thinking of ways to bring my girlfriend home with me to Hawaii. I have been reading but I want to make sure of my steps before I make one. Being that I am a student

    1. Am I able to petition my girlfriend? Even though I’m a student?

    2. Would my mom's income of $30,000 be enough to provide for affidavit of support on my behalf being we live in Hawaii?

    3. If not, can my brother that makes more money give the affidavit of support even though he lives in Illinois?

    4. Again if not, can aunts, uncles or cousins provide affidavit of support

    5. I wanted to start the process soon, can I apply from here? (Philippines) Online? Or I’d have to send documents to my mom to send to USCIS?

    6. I called the embassy here and they said they never heard of applying K-1 visa and the petitioner is living in the Philippines? That it only gets filed in the US. only accept payments for relative type of visa. Is that for real?

    Please help!

    Thank you so much!
