  1. Would they even LOOK at his passport on a domestic flight?

    For ID?

There are some roadside immigration checks inside the US, in the region (but not so close to) the Canadian and Mexican borders.

The Border Patrol is permitted to check documentation regarding one's status in the US within 150 miles of the US Border... ICE is permitted to check anywhere in the US...

The Border Patrol has been setting up roadside checkpoints here in Michigan in the past few years.. mush to the chagrin of the locals...

In some of the airports at border towns they (BP agents) would not let you- foreigner- board, or even go through security, if you don't show them your documentation proving that you are legally in the US (Visa, unexpired I-94, etc). They can tell you are a foreigner by the document you show to the security agent as ID with your boarding pass. They are usually standing right next to them at these airports.

  2. I'm not in the AOS stage yet, but I think you need to make sure that the copy of the marriage certificate is a "certified" one.

Also, I think you need to include an additional copy of the passport and the K1 visa for the I-765.

If you are applying for AP you need payment ($170), copy of the passport, K1, I-94 and 2 more photos - and I think these are different from the rest (3/4 frontal -right ear visible)

  3. Congratulations Mike and Genoveva! Thank you so much for the review and advice, it definitely helps to hear positive things about CDJ :)

Did they really asked for 4 years of tax info? I was planning on taking only 3 years.

Ucla_cutie, I'm not sure how strict they are about the letter, but if you decide to write and print it yourself I would make sure to have paper with the company's letter head, would your dad be able to get this for you?

I was wondering if you guys know if it possible to pay the visa fee at any other Banamex in the country, I think it would be much easier to do it before heading to CDJ at a local Banamex.

  4. Cemeteries and cathedrals with burial crypts underfoot freak me out -- I don't like the idea of walking on buried people --seems disrespectful.

I feel the same way too

I'm also really really afraid of cockroaches

  5. I'm glad to see you got your packet Louisa! and I guess congratulations to you too Waiting for getting your second one :P

I'm getting more and more excited (y nerviosa tambien!) as our interview date gets closer. We are almost ready for it, we just need to letter from the bank- we got one already, but they did it only for 3 months- and the passport photos that they need.

We're also hoping the consulate doesn't close for the rest of the weekdays after Christmas, that would not be good for us. I really would like to have my fiance close by during my interview, and he won't be able to take time off from work to go with me any other time soon :(

  6. Congratulations guguis!

Thank you soo much for sharing your experience with us :)

You mention that you were at the consulate by 3:30am, do you think we need to go that early? Do they make K1 applicants stand in line with the applicants for the other types of visas? I thought we could just show up between 8 and 10am and that we didn't need to wait in line
