I'm planning on applying for US residency for both my parents, and I was wondering if you could help me find out a few things about the process
1) They are both outside if the US, but have visitor visas that would allow them to come here while their green cards are in process, does anybody know if there is a big difference in processing times between being in or out if the US while their green cards are in process? also, they are from Mexico, would they need to go to Juarez for their Interview? and other than travel expenses are there extra fees they would need to pay by staying outside the US during the process?
2) would they be allowed to use their visas to come by land (they live in the border area with the US) while their cards are in process?
3) Their marriage and my birth certificates are not in English, will I be able to translate them myself?

Just wanted to share with you that I had my Interview on September 5th, was approved (yay!!), and had my Oath Ceremony on September 27th, so I'm a US Citizen!!!

I hope you don't mind me asking, but when you travel to your birth country and have dual citizenship, what passport should you use to book the plane tickets? I think in my birth country (Mexico) you are required to enter with their passport, so how would that work with the US requirements?

Hello September filers,
We sent our I-751 to CSC on 8/31 and they got it on Sept. 2nd. We already got our I-797C (NOA1?) with the extension of the conditional resident status, the receipt date on the NOA is 9/2/09

Thinking now about how to get everything together... what are your recommendations on how to put all of our forms and documents and evidence, etc. together? Would it be ok to go with a 3-ring binder/sheet protectors? I know I'm being picky here but I'm the organized one, and I want it to be easy for my fiancee to sort through everything for his interview. Photos in a baggie or would it be ok for me to attach them to pieces of paper with captions?
Any tips or tricks for improving memory (apart from drills)? I have mentioned before, my fiancee has the worst memory on the planet (I have to laugh...My dad goes from being "John" to "Tom"). Strangely enough, he can remember a face that he'd seen 2 years ago on a bus for 10 seconds but he can't remember what year I was born.
The binder and sheet protectors are exactly what I used. I just printed out about 6 pictures per page with captions underneath and put them in the sheet protectors. I'll let you know after Wednesday if it worked ok.
Wish I could give you some advice on the memory thing...it's fortunate that Aldo is the one going for the interview and not me. I have a horrible memory, but he remembers absolutely everything, down to the most insignificant things.Hi there, old timer here just to say that a binder may not be the best idea (unless the rings are made of plastic) because of the metal detectors that they have at the consulate. I had a small binder-like photo book with me when I went to my interview, and I had to leave it with the guards at the door. They told me that I could come back for it if I needed it, which I was lucky I didn't, but I think that if you have more info in it that he would need I wouldn't risk it.
Just my 2 cents.

Well, no good news from here either..still wating
I kind of expected a long wait when I knew that my file had been transferred to CSC, our I129F for my K1 was stuck there for more than 8 months last year so my expectations were not that high for my AOS
I just had my second appointment for biometrics because some "smart" clerk decided to generate a new A# for my file instead of using the one I had provided in the application , so now they need a set of biometrics for each number
The good thing is that it only took them four months to figure this out - the last touch that I had was back in may.
Anyway, still here and I have a feeling that I'll be here for a long time

Thank you for taking the time to help me out :-)
I did go to Juarez for my K1 Visa interview and did the whole Medical Exam-Interview thing, but they moved the consulate to a new address since I went there, and wasn't sure if the timing and requirements were the same. They did take my fingerprints too, but they did it at the consulate right before my interview so I think that's something they changed since I was there. I do remember there were a few things different for K1s, and I think the vaccination requirements were one of them since I wasn't required to send them in until I applied for my AOS, so thank you for sending me the information on that as well :-)
If you don't mind me asking, do they require police reports for the I-130s? if so, where would they get them? would they need to be translated as well?
Also, any recommendations on were to stay while in Juarez?
