Congratulations Marty!!
And Adriana: Bienvenida a Detroit!
Let me know if there's anything I can help you guys, I've already sent my AOS/EAD/AP paperwork and have been approved already for the EAD and AP so I'll be glad to answer any questions you might have on the different things you'll have to deal with locally (i.e. SSN, vaccination supplement)
Felicidades de nuevo!!

Actually....visamaster is right, and depending on their backgrouds of course, they both might have better chances of finding better paid jobs in the border since there are lots of American companies that have their manufacturing plants there- the maquiladoras, not only in Juarez but in most border cities, so she could find a job at one of these plants and work and live in the mexican side with him. Quality of life of course is a different story, border towns are not known for being the best part of the country in terms of natural beauty or nice places to spend your time, but at least you'll be together and hopefully both will have jobs to make ends meet.
BTW Janet, I'm really sorry to hear about Edgar's visa
I hope things get better for you guys. Both of you have to be strong, and as KK said, put together a plan to be together and work through this situation.

Felicidades Monica!
I'm so sorry you guys had to go through such a nightmare, I can only imagine how you two must have felt that afternoon right after his first interview
But I'm glad to hear about the happy ending
Hello All,This is my first post. I thank everyone who has posted here for sharing their experiences and insights. I have a few lingering doubts, and if anyone is kind enough to share their advice, we would certainly appreciate it.
My fiancee and I will be traveling to Juarez next week for the interview. We received the packet in November, but due to several considerations, have not gone for the interview until now.
Are you sure your NOA2 is still valid? I know that the Consulate can renew it, and I think in most cases they do, but be prepared or at least aware that this might come up, just in case.
After reading Monica's horror story, I am printing out as many e-mails as I can dating back to 2001 when we started dating, as well as compiling photographs, credit card statements, phone statements, and letters from friends and family. Is there anything else that you recommend bringing as evidence of our relationship? If she can bring your passport with the entry stamps and/or the permits the mexican immigration has issued to you that would help too.
We had a religious ceremony in her hometown last July. Has anyone encountered any difficulties stemming from this? We made absolutely sure that the ceremony would have no legal ramifications, and no justice of the peace was present. Has this come up in anyone's interview? As Gabacha said, DO NOT mention the religious ceremony and don't show any pictures of it if possible if she's wearing a wedding dress or there's anything on them that can lead them to think that you are already married. If you think you can use the pictures, like she said, say that it was an engagement party or a "pedida de mano", I think the later one would even be helpful for your cause if the pictures are safe to use. Oh, and this also applies to when she gets to the POE once she has the visa. If for any reason they think at that point that you are married they can still deny her entry to the US, even if she has the visa and all the evidence that you have a valid relationship.
Where and how do I pay for the medical exam and the interview itself? What can be paid by credit card, and what, if anything, must be paid for in cash?In addition to the fiance visa, can and should we apply for anything else in Juarez, such as advance parole to travel?
Any other advice or resources are, of course, welcome.
Thank you and I will let everyone know how things are going.
-Oaxachusetts
It's all cash, you can pay for the visa (no additional fee for the interview) at any banamex, she can even go to one at her hometown before heading to Juarez. It would certainly be nice if you could apply for AP at that point, but unfortunately you'll have to wait for that until you are legally married in the US and apply for AOS. And nope, other than the visa you don't pay for anything else in Juarez, unless they require fingerprints or she needs a waiver, in those cases there are additional fees that I think she'd have to pay at the consulate. Oh, and she'd also have to pay for additional photos, if they reject the ones she takes with her as they do with lots of people :-)
Good Luck!

To all Juarez people,
Just a quick update: We are through with AOS. We received email welcoming new permanent resident. Thank you KitKat and Allie for the warm wishes. I could not have gone through this entire journey without this forum. We went at with only the knowledge gained here..no lawyers or RFE's. Thanks again KitKat for your advice. It was extremely valuable. Good luck to all and feel free to ask any questions.
No more USICIS for TWO years!!!
I'm so happy for you two (and secretly a tiny bit jealous). Don't worry - you guys will all be "paying me back" when I finally get to the AOS process!!!
Congratulations Lucy!!!!!
Those are such great news!!!
I bet it feels great knowing that you don't have to deal with them for two years
Oh, and KK, I'll be more than happy to payback some of the help you have given us here
Marty, they say it takes an average of 90 days to get the AP once you submit it, and that you can only do with or after the AOS application (I-485), which can only be done once you have your certified marriage certificate. My NOA1 date was March 1st and I got approved 68 days after on May 8th.
Hope this helps.

Congratulations!!!!!!
We were in the office for 5 mins and got approved so the lucky socks work... I think I'm almost done with needing them. They pulled me through my Nursing exams with flying colours, my K-1 interview, my POE and now my AOS. They work for me... I can wash them and they're still lucky.... They are just bright green so don't ever go with anything... the Officer didn't even look at anything but my passport. Only asked my name, address, phone number, birth parents first names, where I was born, verified previous marriage status and that we have no kids, asked 4 of the "no" questions then said you're approved!! No stamp though. But, so happy. -
Today I got the EAD... finally I can work!!!
since my GC will probably take forever now...
got an e-mail from CRIS EAD card production ordered..im so happy! i hope everything goes smooth on my interview also, two weeks from now..Congrats guys!
Mo

It was 16 days for us, NVC received our file on October 25 and we got the package from CDJ (in the US) on November 10
-
Hello guys,
I just wanted to give you an update on my case: my AP was approved on May 8, and my EAD was approved yesterday!
-
Congratulations Meow and Mirko!!
I'm also still celebrating, my EAD also got approved yesterday!

Hola Ale!
When I was working on my AOS documentation I found this link on the I-864 form very helpful for several questions that I had at the time:
http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/AffSuppAFM062706.pdf
I think you'll find it interesting too
Saludos!
From looking at my taxes, FORM 1040 I am unsure about the amount I would put. Is it the "wages, salaries, tips etc." amount (line 7), the “total income” (line 22), or the "adjusted gross income" amount (line 37)? So I’m not sure which amount of these three to use. Which one did you guys use?http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-864.pdf
For purposes of this affidavit, the line for gross (total) income on IRS Forms 1040 and 1040A will be considered when determining income. For persons filing IRS Form 1040 EZ,the line for adjusted gross income will be considered.

Hello fellow marchers!
I got good news: my AP was approved! I can go visit my family now
-
Hi everyone,
Did you all miss me? You better say yes,
I have been very busy now that my Juan is here. I’ve been spending time with him, going shopping together, enrolling him in ESL classes, etc. It has been great!
I went down to Mexico during my spring break and had a blast. Then I brought back my Juan with me, it was so exciting. To think that I made about 10 trips to Mexico to visit Juan and I finally brought him back with me. I’m glad all those terrible goodbyes are a thing of the past.
Hola Ale!!!!!
Of course we missed you
I'm so happy for you guys, congratulations on your wedding!!!
I think we all here know what you mean about the "terrible" goodbyes, I had over 100 of those in the 10+ years we dated!!!
and I learned to hate airports!!
BUT all of that is over for us now too, and we're finally together!!!
You know, one of the best moments after our wedding was when the next day one of our mutual friends asked me "so, when do you go back? are you coming back here soon?" and I got to say "Pete, this time I get to stay!!!" I still get teared eyes when I think about it
-
Its funny how with a K-1 we are all saying no no no noooooo!
With AOS we are chanting C-S-C! C-S-C!
I imagine some K-1 people with a looong coming visa through CSC would be dubious to be back there again!
That's exactly how I felt about my AOS file being transferred to CSC
My I-129F was there waaay too long last year. It was an IMBRA related delay, but still.... many others who submitted their files later than us during that fiasco were approved faster
But after reading all the great things about being in CSC for AOS I thought it wouldn't be that bad afterall
And believe it or not I'm still hopeful
-
Did your letter say it was "transferred to" or "received by" CSC?
Hi MariaEric. The letter on the 21st was telling me the case transfer was received by CSC.
Hope you're feeling better soon, Scott.
That was quick!
I just got my "Pending at CSC" e-mail today, and they sent it since March 26th!
Oh well, I guess I should have expected that from CSC. I just hope my file doesn't find it's way to the same drawer my "I-129F" was stuck in for more than 6 months last year
-
Congrats on the interview date, Meow!
Mo
Hi Mo,
I just wanted to say: "We have the same timeline!"
Good luck to all!
-
Congratulations Kaffykat!!!
It was about time!!!!
-
So, I got an email from the USCIS.
Does this mean that we got our NOA2 approved?
Congratulations Marty!!! I'm sure Adriana must be really excited!
Dile que se vaya preparando para el viaje a Cd. Juárez

I stand corrected, "ansiando" is certainly a word in Spanish
I searched for it on the Diccionario de la Real Academia de la Lengua and I found it
Ooops my bad about the "wife beater" thing, I don't think I ever heard that phrase before used for T-Shirts
"Whatever the case, languages are living. They change, evolve, grow...."
That is certainly true
Actually the first pharagraph of the "Diccionario de la lengua española" (which by the way is one of the main authorities when it comes to correct Spanish) is : "Las lenguas cambian de continuo, y lo hacen de modo especial en su componente léxico. Por ello los diccionarios nunca están terminados: son una obra viva que se esfuerza en reflejar la evolución registrando nuevas formas y atendiendo a las mutaciones de significado.

As far as I know a "tuerto" was born with two eyes and later lost one of them, I might be wrong though
I can't think of a word or Phrase that could be used the same way as "look forward to", but in the sentence you wrote about your fiance I would say " Ya quiero que llegue mi novio!", so when you say "I'm really looking forward to see you" I'd say "ya quiero verte!" or something like that.
mmmmm I'm not sure "ansiando" is actually a word in spanish, but then again I might be wrong
"what do they call a wife beater in Spanish?" I would personally call him a "pelado abusivo"
"bowl"? you mean like in "plato/tazón"?
-
Congratulations Keith!!!

Back to a question I posted earlier about Advance Parole - I know this forum is not about AP but those of you who did apply for it, what did you write for the date you expect to leave the country? Did you just pick a random date if you didn't have one in mind? Cassandra - you said you would reccomend getting AP just to have it - what do you plan on writing for the date?
I applied for AP together with my AOS and EAD, but I do have a date I'd definitely need it by. My sister's wedding is in early August, so I'd need an AP in case I don't have my AOS completed by then (after going through IMBRA I know I can expect just about anything from USCIS - and I've seen cases of people that have been waiting since June last year for their AOS!), so I put a July date on in, just to be safe.
BTW, I know what you guys mean about feeling frustrated of not finding the "right" words in English for what you want to say. The other day I burned my finger and I said "me arde", and I could not find the right word in English for it..burns es "quemar" which is not exactly what we mean by "arder" when we say it in that sense since we use it also for open wounds that have nothing to do with heat; itch is more like "comezón" o "picar", and hurt es "doler", so none of those words worked
Or another time for some reason I don't remember I was thinking of the saying "en la tierra de ciegos el tuerto es el rey", and then I tought: what's the english word for "tuerto"? and for some reason "one-eyed" didn't cut it, since tuertos did have two eyes at some point
and same goes for "manco" or "cojo"

I hope this doesn't cause any delay on my AOS
Good luck - I hope you don't get delayed. I've just had my fingerprints taken for the third time because the FBI computer doesn't like them. Fingers crossed for all of us...
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;#entry756504
You bet I have my fingers crossed
I can't believe they had you come 3 times for fingerprints!!
You would expect them to know what to correct/look for by the second time
Did they say what they didn't like about them? at least I know they were looking for my "deltas"
they had a hard time taking my fingerprints too... they scanned every finger about 5 times and the computer kept on rating my fingerprints really low.Yeah, my ratings were kind of low too, they were all in the low 70's. I was the first one to get into the office this morning, and the last one to leave of the ones that were in line with me
I do have to say that the guy was nice enough to take my picture twice after I didn't like the first one that he took
-
Has anybody heard of something like this before?
I had my biometrics appointment this morning, and they had to take my fingerprints 3 times because QC rejected them for not finding the "delta" in them. They still couldn't find it on the third set, so the supervisor just said that I probably didn't have one
I did a little bit of research and I think they were talking about the "delta point". I wonder if there would be any problem if I do have them and they just failed to capture them
I hope this doesn't cause any delay on my AOS

Congrats Allie, another bunch of tramites completed! I'm trying to get started on AOS before my wedding and it's a SLOW start...
Vacunas are driving me crazy!
Anyone have experience trying to use the Registro Individual de Inmunizaciones del Issste. It's AMAZING that my guy still has the original vaccination card and I thought I was doing a good thing making him bring it from Mexico. But I talked to a civil surgeon that said it wasn't valid
Just wondering if this is the situation or should I shop around for doctors (like in the barrio Mexico maybe).
I brought my "Constancia Internacional de Vacunación" from the local "Centro de Salud" in my hometown showing the vaccinations and the date I had taken them, and I found a CS here in Michigan whose Secretary speaks Spanish and had no problem getting the information from it for the I-693A. He charged me $40 for it. So maybe it's just a matter of doing some "calling around" to see if you find one in your area that it is willing to accept it.
Good luck!

Hi,
Same here, no touches on my AOS since May 4th
I'm pretty sure I'm stuck in namecheks, but it would be nice if they at least told me that. Does anybody know how to find out if this is the case? (= my file is in namechecks)
