  1. New card is being produced! Got the text message update and checked the case status right away. We also have a LIN case number and it seems a lot of us who filed at that service center are being approved one after another! Congrats all!

Even without anything really to be worried about regarding our case, I can't believe how much stress has been lifted by this approval.

So this is a really dumb question...where/how do you check your status? I've been trying not to think about it but seeing all these recent approvals is making me excited/nervous!

You can check your case status on the USCIS website: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

You will need your receipt number and you can create a profile with the site so that you can even get texts and emails when updates to your case are made.

Same here. Not sure if this has been shared here before, but here is a link to a google sheets document for i-751 filers through the LIN office: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Buo_drIy4zaCFZUULdT_L9JrA6YZgrVtt7Cj6nUsvv0/edit?usp=sharing

I have more peace of mind knowing that I'm not the only one waiting with no word since the extension letter.

Thanks for posting your review!! So glad you two had a good experience, hopefully you will get approved soon! My husband and I are also pretty young and just moved in together recently so we don't have that many joint assets (not on the same phone plan, no retirement or life insurance plans, we don't own any property or have any kids, not on the same health insurance) so we have very similar proof that you had, so hopefully that will be enough!

Got an email/text this morning around 8:30am for updated case status--APPROVED! Waiting all day yesterday for an answer was torture but we are elated this morning!

So my interview is in one day and I have been reading some of the questions that they might ask us and I am curious as to know how do they verify our answers. Like if they ask if one of us drinks coffee in the morning, or what color our bedroom wall is... Like do they make us both write answers before the interview?

We had our interview this morning in Denver, and none of the questions were tricky and the officer never tried to trip us up. Mostly, the officer asked us about what we do for a living, how we met, and to verify logistics like birth/marriage dates and addresses. They aren't looking necessarily for right and wrong answers to other daily life questions (like the bedroom wall color or coffee specifics, if they even ask them), they are reading you to see if you squirm or your body language suggests fabrication. It was not nearly as high pressure as we were expecting!

Congrats!!! Quick question for you since we have almost identical timelines and are both from Denver, your timeline says you got an RFIE on Oct 27 - just wondering when you sent back the information requested. We got an RFIE on Oct 21, sent back the info on Oct 31, and as of Nov 4 our status has been stuck on "We've received your evidence" Knowing that you got an interview this quickly with an RFIE makes me think ours might be soon!

We sent the info requested back about a week (?) after we got the RFIE. We are honestly amazed that we got an interview this quickly and we are excited that you finally have an interview date as well! CONGRATS!

  7. Hi there,

Did you as a beneficiary email consulate to request packet 3. I'm a petitioner from US and when I emailed them to request for packet 3, they said they will contact my fiance via mail for packet 3. BTW, what packet 3 you received via email?? thanks

I am the U.S. citizen petitioner, and the packet 3 email came to me automatically.

The process varies from country to country, so make sure you check the procedures for your consulate to find out how packets 3 and 4 are dealt with. Some are only sent by mail.

  8. Our case made it to the consulate last night and went directly from 'At NVC' to 'Ready'. I had called the NVC to ask if our case had been sent even though CEAC site wasn't updated and representative said it was mailed April 11th, so I tracked it on DHL all week of course :P

Packet 3 email received! Police check and medical scheduled, along with completion of necessary forms. Fingers crossed that the interview will soon follow!

  9. Just curious but has anybody tried the email route instead of calling for the case number? Although I'm pretty sure calling in is probably the fastest lol

After trying to call the NVC during a busy time of the day and being directed to try again later, I sent an email just to see if I could get a response. That was on March 31st and I still have not gotten an email response from NVC.

I called during the early morning several times instead while waiting on a case number and typical hold time was 10-20 minutes. By the time my email might be answered I already don't need the response anymore.

Calling and waiting on hold is worth the time to get a response, in my experience.

  10. Thank you everyone! I called the NVC for an issue I had with the NOA2 and they said it would take up to 35 days for my petition to reach them and another 42 for a case number!!! Wowwww lol

They say that to cover their bases, when really it typically takes less time. From what I've seen posted the average is around 20 calendar days for them to receive the petition and 1-2 business days from there to get a case number assigned.

Hearing estimates like that can from the NVC be disheartening, I know. I freaked out when I heard it could take that long. Every case is different, but typically you will not be waiting nearly that long!

  11. So happy to have found this forum... my fiancee and I filed in January and we are waiting patiently to receive our NVC case number... called them today to check in and was told it can take up to 42 days since we received our NOA2 (March 18). Pretty bummed to hear it might be that long. How often should I be calling to check back in and try to see if we have been assigned a case number?
