  1. I have saved all letters from her in their original envelopes for some reason the latest being mailed last week. Should I make copies to give at the interviews or will they want the originals? I guess in the case of the envelopes no copies are going to be able to show dates of the post stamps.

It is easy to make a copy. Just copy the envelope in color. It should show the postmark very easy. Then copy the letter, and put them together. If the letter is short, you can even do it on the same page. She can give the copy at the interview, but you must also have the original available at the same time. The IO has the right to see originals of any copy presented for evidence.

If they should keep the copies, then you will still have the originals to save for your scrapbook.

  2. When you get them all filled out I would recommened your congressman to look over them. I went to his office yesterday and his staff was a lot of help. He just brought his whiteout in and fixed all my mistakes. He said if u make one little mistake it could set u back months. Or if you make an ity bitty mistake and get some one upset that day looking over your documents they will send them back. I don't know where u are from but here in IL we have this service free provided to us. It is great I recomended someone to double check your work before u send it off. Best wishes with starting your paper work :D .

Just a word of caution - I would be surprised if a congressman's office would help review initial forms although obviously this was the case here. Normally, congressional offices step in to assist when the petitioner is having difficulty getting answers from a service center or is out of the processing timeframe. They don't normally help people fill out paperwork. You can certainly get all the help you need here by reading the guides - I would save the congressional assistance for when you need it. And by the way, whiteout is not a very smart idea.

Thanks for all the advice everybody, so here is my next question.

Should I be sending in copies of everything in to USCIS? Including forms with signatures? Or should I just send the originals and keep copies of everything?

All signatures must be original, thus send in original forms that you and/or your fiance signed (I-129F & G-325A) (for the I-129F petition only, you will need to sign more papers later, this is just for now). Everything else you send in can be a copy. The USCIS tell you not to send in original documents unless they (USCIS) ask for them. Make copies of EVERYTHING you send to anyone, and keep 1 set for yourself, and as a good idea, make another set for your fiance. You will need to send her a copy of everything you have sent in at a later date anyway, so make her copy now too. That way she will have an exact set as well as you having an exact set of everything you have sent to the USCIS service center. If something should get lost in the process, you would hate to have sent her the only copy you have.

  3. After receiving Packet 4 (WOW!!!), instruction 4 sez either the birth certificate or the national identification and house registration. If these documents are not in english "or in the official language of the country in which aplication for visa is being made" - they must be translated...but she is in Thailand, the official language is Thai, the documents are in Thai, the consulate is in Thailand...no translation, Right?

Remember you (she) are/is getting a USA visa which means that even though you are in Thailand, it is the US Embassy you (she) are/is getting the visa from. She is coming to the USA, thus you need what the USA requires.

You will need to get ANY documents that are not in English translated to English. I am sure if you pop into the Thailand threads that you will get any help or information you need as to the exact procedures for this.

This will lead you in the right direction to start.

  4. No RFE received here yet. Email stated the mailed it on June 23. Contacted my senators office (thank you kitkat1), and faxed them the release to inquire for me. The contact person is out of the office today, and will return on Monday. So perhaps I will hear something early next week. All I ask for right now is the RFE so I can sign it and next day it back to them, and then they can put me back in the waiting line again.

  5. I spoke with VSC. The gentleman who answered the phone was very polite, and he thinks that it was exactly as I thought. My I-129 was placed in a stack with the others that needed a RFE. He sugggested I simply return my RFE, and let the process move forward.

    Jay

Good to see another from China. It is a shame that they stuck you in the wrong pile. We have a long enough wait as it is with Guanghzou. Good news is that you are at the VSC, so you should move out of there pretty quick once they get the RFE back and processed. Best of luck to you. There is some great information on http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php it is set up for US/China people going through the same process. When you have time, you should check it out.

  6. July 12 today, and no RFE yet.:angry:

    Call your senator's office tmrow!!!

Yes, I will. It has just been to long of a wait for something that is so simple.

I'll PM you the person to call at Barak Obama's office - she's very nice and helpful. First you have to fill out the privacy form, fill in your case information and the reason for your request - that you still haven't received the RFE - and fax it to their office.

    Start here:

    http://obama.senate.gov/files/privacy_release_act.pdf

fax it to: 312-886-3514 and then call!

Thank you kitkat1. Great information you posted and thank you for the info release form. I will take care of it tomorrow. I appreciate the time you took to gather this for me, and for the PM. :)

  7. I am in Illinois. I do read that some have not been mailed until June 29. Some other OP's have stated that the just received only yesterday. I know the email states to wait 30 days for a phone call, but I feel I should call tomorrow if not received by then. It just sucks, because it will only take me 15 minutes to sign and return by next day air, and all this down time may keep us apart longer depending on how CSC will handle the RFE's once returned. In the big picture I know it is not a long wait, but we are going through China. So no matter what, we still have months to go, and each day longer only gives us a future interview date of who knows? Even an NOA2 of today's date would still put us at least 4-5 months longer, and probably more. Just venting, as it seems that no matter how well we are prepared, there always comes a snag or delay.

July 12 today, and no RFE yet.:angry:

I wonder if it is possible that there were more than two batches of mail sent out. I cannot imagine that you would not have received your RFE if it was mailed on the 29th. The last time I sent mail to Beijing it got there faster than this.

Sorry! I really feel for you!!

Yep, it only takes just standard airmail (84 cents) to arrive in 8 days for me. It will show, but the wait is driving me crazy as it is such an easy RFE.

  8. seriously - is there any other CSC person out there who was notified of being sent an RFE on June 23rd, but still hasn't got it?

I'm starting to freak out. :crying: It is all just so frustrating.

    oh wait...

July 6, no RFE in todays mail.
were you notified of having one sent out to you? Well, I hope we both get them today!

July 7, and no RFE yet!!

Way to go hockeygal on getting yours today. Maybe tomorrow will be my lucky day.
