No joint sponsor does not do anything with this.
It's all on the petitioner to prove he domiciles in the USA.
Proof you live there and are active there basically.

Sadly they dont have the budget to be open 24 hours. I was sent to Potomac luckily.
Remember all this is a privilege not a right. They all try to move things along they dont want to be backed up as much as you guys dont want them to be.

Yes, I know what you mean, like Nigeria, Yemen, or Ghana right?
I know Venezuela is not a high fraud country, but at some point IDK how the current political and social inestability could affect the U.S embassy performance.
An example is how since May of 2016 they stopped the process for new applications for B1/B2 visas.
I understand but luckily the embassy only affects the last thing you need to do.
You should be a-ok.

Yes, What I was thinking, is more difficult for people from 3world countries
Its not too bad for all of them, there is a list of really hard countries to come from though. Those countries have an extremely high decline rate.
You are not one of those.

Thanks for your words. We all need this kind of support.
BTW, your case moved really fast according to your timeline!
It moved quite quick, but it has to do with the country she is from.
As well as being super prepared.

Don't be impatient. You are about to go into a journey that will test your patience all the way through. You need to be patient and prepare for each phase while waiting.
When you send a packet or start a phase,in the wait time you will -Defiantly- have you should be preparing for the next phase, and then the next phase and so fourth.
Do not get caught with your pants down and be prepared! Plan ahead! Get the paperwork now! Do research so you know what to expect.

Yes I have! So on Monday, I just did a usual follow up regarding the status of my case, and come to find out that I will be receiving a checklist (I officially received a checklist last night) regarding my wife birth certificate, our marriage certificate, and my wife police certificate. When I spoke to the customer service representative, I asked for a supervisor to give me a call back, and also ask to speak to a representative since I was on the phone, but wasn't able to get a hold of one.
I did a follow up in the afternoon just to be pro active, and the second customer service representative blatantly lied to me on the phone about the checklist in-regards to the wedding certificate & DS-260. "We can't accept your marriage certificate because it doesn't match the DS-260. It says on the DS-260 Argentina was the place of marriage, and I submitted a Panama Civil Wedding Certificate". I wasn't on the computer at the time to look over the DS-260, but when I got a chance to look over everything, the customer service was 100% wrong, so that got me really upset.
My wife was born in Argentina, but her current residency is in Panama, and we got married in the country of Panama so.
The 3 checklist I received:
-
Wife birth certificate - "We cannot accept the birth certificate document you sent. You must send us the correct document so we
can continue to process your case. To see the guidelines for your document, go to our website at.... I went to the website, googled Argentina birth certificates, and compared to hers. It's the same thing. It has all the seals/stamps, and the information from the comments from what they are asking on the NVC website. I'm assuming I've sent the "short version" I can't confirm because I have not spoken to a supervisor.
-
Marriage certificate - "We cannot accept the marriage certificate document you sent. You must send us the correct document
so we can continue to process your case." Not sure why we got this, since it's made it to the NVC, if this wasn't the correct marriage certificate, wouldn't it have been flagged at the USCIS? But we did a civil wedding in Panama, which the marriage certificate is from.
-
Police certificate - "We cannot accept the police certificate document you sent. You must send us the correct
document so we can continue to process your case. To see the guidelines for your document, go to our website..." When I sent the NVC, I only sent the Panama police certificate as per the NVC website Police certificate requirements because I read it as: "If you" Are 16 years old or older AND you Have lived in your country of current residence(if different from nationality) for more than 6 months THEN submit a police certificate from Your country of current residence" That was my reason why I only sent the Panama Police certificate, correct me if I'm wrong.
I have yet to speak to a supervisor before I send it to the NVC to make sure and clearly sending the correct documents for the NVC. So as of right now my wife in Panama talking to the Argentina Embassy to get a hold of her birth certificate and police certificate, as we have to prepare. But as of right now I'm waiting to get a hold of a supervisor and for them to give me a call back. It's frustrating and a setback, but all the customer service representatives I've spoke to, I've asked them to provide their names. So we will see how this turns out.
1. Make sure all they were all translated.
2. If she lived in her birth country until the age of 16 she has to submit it. (Hence she lived there for 16 years)
3. Always send the long versions.

The interview will be held in Canada because he is Canadian.
You don't need to be there for the interview.

Does the visa get issued at the end of the consular interview? If not, how long after the interview does the visa get issued?
They will tell you if they approve you or not, keep your passport then mail you the passport with the visa in it.

The GC and SSN is not "triggered" until you immigrate to the US. And you can still apply for jobs and start work even without the GC and SSN. The endorsed CR/IR-1 visa in your passport will act as a GC until you get the proper card. Usually, you get the SSN about two weeks after entering the US. And trust me, the first few weeks you'll be too busy settling in anyway; getting driver's license, making a home, catching up with your spouse, getting a phone etc etc.
I started working a month after immigrating to the US and used the visa in my passport as proof of eligibility to work in the US.
The people you've read about "waiting home and bored" are probably k-1s. They're not allowed to work until they get their EAD. When you come on the CR/IR-1, you can work straight away.
No. My wife cant do anything at the DMV until she has her SS card. She can't work as 90% of companies want an SS number as well. You cannot get paid without one.

You need to be patient,it sucks but this is a time taking process.

It is just information. You don't need to attach anything.
Yes you need to send your AOS and IV packages in (Send them in together in one package just separated.).

If they dont cash it,it will be a setback.
Did he not read the guide-lines anywhere?

It all depends where you come from if you needed to front load your app.
I sent plane tickets, photos, her being on my medical insurance and her being on one of my credit cards.
Just remember through this part is it your job to prove a realtionship not theres.
if all you sent was a marriage certificate you most likely get an RFE.
Please educate yourself on each step so you don't miss anything. While your waiting look towards the next step and prepare yourself.
-
They might cash it,if they don't it can be awhile before you get it back and re-send one.
-
Please put in your profile which country the beneficiary is coming from. This matters.
You probably need something more, either insurance or financial mingling.
-
I will follow this thread and help where i can. Any questions i will answer.
Be patient and keep busy! Plan ahead always look towards the next step.
Make sure you have a basic knowledge what is needed through the entire process, educate yourself.

Well that and those dutchies we have in our lives are a handful

This process is a-lot of waiting in between.
What you need to do is look towards the next step and prepare yourself as much as possible. You don't wanna be caught off guard and not prepared it takes more time
