  1. For those of you who are case complete/already done with the visa, a question about the interview: I received case complete on Monday. When should I start calling to ask about my interview date? The "Visa status check" still says my case is at NVC. Do I need to wait until it is at the Stockholm embassy?

I scheduled mine after the embassy sent me Packet 3 via e-mail, but I scheduled my Medical as soon as I received my case number.

You might be able to schedule the interview when the embassy has your case file, the status will say "Ready" when that happens.

  2. I had my medical done here in Gothenburg two weeks ago, I was actually very surprised by how it went so I'll give you a quick summary.

It cost 2800:- total, no extra costs for bloodwork or x-rays.

First you are taken by a nurse to have blood drawn, blood pressure taken, height measured, weight checked, and then you do a quick vision test.

You then go and see the doctor, now this part surprised me, he said to me the amount of questions he is supposed to ask is crazy long so he'll keep it simple and just asked me if I'm in general good health, do I have any problems / medical conditions to which I replied no, I then gave him my childhood vaccination records (MMR and Polio) and a more recent one for Hepatitis A+B which wasn't really required for my age (29).

I then took my shirt off and he listened to my breathing did a few reflex tests and that WAS IT.

I even asked him about needing more vaccinations and he told me flat out that the vaccine requirements they expect people from here to get (I'm from the UK, but lived here in Sweden for 5 years) is crazy considering Sweden and the UK have better healthcare systems than the USA, and expecting us to pay for vaccines like we are from a third world country is ridiculous. So he ticked all the boxes, wrote down that I need no additional vaccinations and sent me on my way to have my X-Rays done, the X-Rays are performed at a hospital called Carlanderska which is a 10 minute walk away from the doctors office (again no extra cost).

So yeah I was pretty surprised at how.... easy it was.

  3. HAHAHAHA!!! That gave me a good laugh this morning!! This whole process is making me paranoid lol We will leave it they way it is :star:

It really does make you crazy and paranoid, you think the smallest of errors or mistakes is going to totally de-rail the entire process and make you start again at square one. And of course you have so much time to wait that all you can do is totally over think everything!!

I made a mistake on the original application and didn't notice until after our NOA2, and I sent a crazy 4 paragraph email to the embassy freaking out and trying to fix it and and they just replied saying to calm down it's not a problem ;)

I'm sure they see errors and honest mistakes all the time, as long as it's not intentional deception you don't need to worry.

  4. Just had my medical today in Gothenburg, it went really well and the doctor said I didn't need any vaccinations which is good I was kind of expecting to need at least a couple!

Does anyone know if I get a copy of the medical report after the results of my bloodwork come back? I read somewhere I need a copy to file for AOS in the future and I forgot to ask the doctor during my appointment.

I also got in touch with the embassy about my birth certificate not having my parents DOB and they said it's not a problem :)

  5. Hey guys, quick question. I have my interview for K1 on May 19th. I'm from the UK and living in Sweden, so the UK has no mandatory military service so I'm assuming I don't need to bring any kind of documentation for this.

Also in the email I received it says that I need to bring my birth certificate and that it should contain my parents names, places of birth and also date of birth. I have the full version of my birth certificate and British birth certificates do not have parents birth dates on them.

Do you think this will be a problem?

    Thanks!

  6. Good question! When did your arrive at the embassy? I've been wondering this too but it just say on the instructions that interview booked before the mail will be cancelled. But usually they sent the mail like 2-3 days after they receive it so don't know...

It arrived this week on Monday April 4th and on Tuesday the status online changed to "Ready", my fiance has been checking but as of yet no email has been sent to either of us.

Also I'm not a citizen of any Scandinavian country, I'm from the UK so I thought they might take a little longer to include the extra information they need from my home country.

  7. Hey guys! First post in this thread.

My application has made it's way to the Stockholm Embassy and the case status website says "Ready" although we have not received packet 3 via email or post yet, my question is am I able to complete the DS-160 and book my interview now? or do I need to wait for packet 3 before I do any of this (I have already booked my medical)

    Many thanks

  8. You might be overthinking it, I'm in a similar situation in that when I was born my name was spelled incorrectly on my birth certificate and my parents had it corrected legally at a later date.

I didn't even realize this until after I got my NOA2 so the other name was never put on my i-129f and when I went to dig out my birth certificate and saw the name was different, I have all the documents to prove the change of name and all my other documents (passport etc) have always been in the correct name. So I'll just add the other name on my online application for the embassy interview and explain it when I go in for my interview. I don't think it's a huge problem, name corrections are fairly common and you are applying in the UK, it's a low fraud embassy and you shouldn't run into any problems.
