  1. Nothing that helpful, but a lot of people from countries outside the US get false positives for some reason. Worked in HR at a place hiring a lot of foreigners and false positives were commonly seen. If it's any comfort.
    Hi,

I had a medical exam, and my TB skin test came out positive. So, I got a chest x-ray the other day and am waiting for the result. Now, I am wondering what is gonna happen if I had active TB. Do I have to take medication till everything clears out? Do I have to wait that long till I can apply for AOS? Does anyone know about this? Thanks.

I wouldn't sweat it and I have the answer for you....The TB Vaccination that is given in the US is an "inactive virus" so it normally won't show up if you are tested for TB. If you were born outside of the US and given a vaccination, it is considered an "active virus" and will always show up when you are tested. My girlfriend told me this prior to my husband's medical exam. The doctor confirmed it and said lets just see what happens instead of spending another $150 off the bat with xrays. Of course hes test came out flaming positive (his whole arm swelled up) and the xray came back negative.

So don't worry everything will be fine....

I asked the civil surgeon why everyone needs to get a xray for immigration and she explained the same thing. Basically everyone except US citizens gets the vaccine and the vaccine will always make you have a false positive on the test. But if you're already here your xray was clean. After you have one false positive (unless of course it was a problem with the test itself) you will only be able to have xrays to test you for TB.

  2. Everyone keeps talking about how fast the AOS goes when they are transfered to California. What if you live in CA and are not transfered in? Are they still going fast? I'm trying to decide if we should file for the AP and EAD or just send in the AOS. We don't need either of the other documents for 4 -6 months and it looks like the AOS is going that fast.

We live in California, did not get transferred here. Actually when I looked to see how many Californian's got transferred to CSC I only found one on this site (I may have overlooked some). Our NOA1 was November 12, 2006, no RFE's for us, just got EAD card today and interview is March 6. We didn't file for AP, tried to save money somewhere, but felt EAD was important and now we have it a month before the interview, which is money earned. But alas it's your call.

  3. Well No touches since since a week now. I guess they are not going to approve it till the full 90 days. What is the procedure to get an interim EAD if they dont approve the EAD in the full 90 days? Or can you even get one now?

I believe that you need to call the 800# and ask for an interim EAD. That's what we had intended to do. Hopefully they'll approve you before then!

  4. As you guys can see from my timeline, i have been touched 6 times since i sent in my application for AOS late december, and this does not include the touch when they received my RFE, so i guess it would be a total of 7 touches.

do you guys think this could be something good and that maybe and i pray to God maybe they are getting ready to send me an interview notice?? even though i only filed in december.

or could it just be that my file was transfered from one desk to another.

does any of you guys have any experience with getting touched a lot and soon after received a letter for the interview???

i guess i am being hopeful here and trying to give myself more encouragement.

We didn't receive any touches on our AOS before or after getting our interview notice. But we did before getting the EAD approved. Best wishes!

  5. Priase the Lord! I thought it will take more than a week to received my EAD card but I got it today. Was approved online last Jan. 26, 2007 and received the card today....Jan 29.

My question is do I have to wait a week or can I go to SSN office now to get my SSN card or number? I have a job offer waiting and the company needs my SS number first. For background purposes... Anyone have been through this process of getting SS number/card after receiving EAD card, please advice.

Thanks and good luck to those who are still waiting for their EAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should go right away as it will take a couple weeks for you to actually receive your card.

  6. haha me too - told you we had the same timeline! I cannot believe that I quit my job for two days without authorization (temp ead expired on weds)...

Haha, that is funny. Congragulations though!!!! Now I wonder if we'll get the card the same day....... Can you get the job back? Hopefully!

Well I willl let you know when I receive the card... It was only a temporary job anyway, I'm just being a stroppy cow...! Just rung my agency and they're finding me something else - oh well, I didn't mind having a few days off anyway!

Just received email that the approval notice was sent out today!

  7. Congragulations on your interview date!! We received our interview letter on Jan 23, in Los Angeles and for the first time since November, we got a touch on the EAD the same day, but there were no touches at all on the AOS which seems strange. Oh well, who cares! At least now we have an interview date.

Your timeline looks almost exactly the same as mine! I too got my first touches on my EAD on the 23rd and 24th, let's hope they both get approved soon! I reckon it'll be tomorrow :)

Our timelines are very close! We'll hope for EAD today! But I'm more realistically thinking within the next two weeks, this process can make you skeptical..... At least it must be soon though! Seriously how long could it take to put the info into a computer and spit out a card?

  8. Thanks for the replies - I will let you know what happens on 02/08 regarding the EAD. As far as whether it is worth it, I guess that it is subjective. If he gets employment before our wedding on 03/17, then it will likely be worth it. If not, then it probably isn't the end of the world either - although he certainly would be happy to start working before then. I'm not sure what the reasons would be for waiting 2 weeks to apply for a ss#....it doesn't seem to make any difference. If they don't have the data at the time of the application, they obviously won't issue the card until they get it.... In either case, the card gets mailed out once a number is assigned.

Basically you just applied for an EAD card that will run out when his K-1 does (90 days after his entry) and then you will have to apply again, with fees again, to get a card for a year (but you're looking at a 90 day wait from the time that you apply for EAD with your AOS (after your marriage). If his POE was at JFK you could have got a "free" EAD stamp on his passport that would have been good for the duration of the K-1 starting from the time he got his SS. There's some really good advice on this site and it has made our journey so smooth.

  9. I'm so pissed right now! I feel like my head is going to explode I'm so angry at "my" government right now. Twice. That's right, twice is the number of times they have made me pay the application fees that we can't afford, and twice is also now the number of times that our interview has been descheduled. We changed our plans for my husbands travel and first big job since he got here so that he could be back for this interview even though it was at another loss to us. We didn't apply for AP because we had our interview theoretically in time for us to travel (supposedly in DECEMBER!) to see my sick father in law this summer and it'll probably be OK, but now I don't know if we can in time.. They just keep making me madder and madder- and my hubby's not even here to comfort me right now, and I'm just going crazy. Aaaah! I'm sorry for rambling and I don't even know if this makes sense, but I just need someone else who knows how crazy and ###### up this system is to tell me that everything's going to be OK because no one else I know here can even understand....

Just go to the interview anyhow. There was another thread where a couple's AOS was viewed abandoned because they didn't show up for the interview that they had received cancellation notices for
