It'd be great to tweak TOS to help alleviate these recent problems, but ultimately it all comes back to a moderator's (notice singular case) use of judgement and common sense, which can't always be relied upon. That's why an appeals process is crucial.

I've never spanked my child and she is very well behaved. IMO, spanking a child in response to undesired behavior sends the message that responding to the unwanted behavior with physical force is acceptable and appropriate. It isn't. I do not need to apply physical force to have my child follow my direction. A stern look is all it takes. She knows when dad is serious.

I would have rather seen an article that wind farms are causing the Earth's rotation to slow down and if allowed to continue the planet would stop rotating and then we would have one side in darkness and one side in light. THAT would have been more believable than solar panels are sucking more energy from the sun. Maybe they should go on a campaign that all energy used on the planet is solar power as it was the sun that produced those plants that we are now burning as coal.

I think banning people is counterproductive if this site wants maximum participation. A much more effective way that doesn't hinder member participation is to insitute thread bans when someone repeatedly posts in a thread that violates the TOS. Those who are habitual offenders should be on a watch list. Enough times of being thread banned will discourage them to leave on their own.

Just a quick thanks to those of you who have commented in this thread and those in the OT forum about wanting me back. It's appreciated and I do miss talking to SOME of you
I was banned for accusing someone of being a sock puppet, and then coming back with a new account in which I did not even attempt to hide that it was me. That wasn't a mistake on my part, I knew I would be permanently banned for doing so and I was alright with that. So while I don't believe the original ban was worthy of 30 days (or really much of anything), the permanent ban that followed was a choice I made even though I knew the consequences. It's all good.
Maybe one day I'll come back and hide who I am, but that seems like a lot of effort to go through, so I dunno if it would be worth it.

Actually no, the African American president that you dislike so much can't be blamed this time. That's a zero emissions mandate from the state of California where a certain percentage of cars sold in the state have to meet emissions standards. He doesn't have to sell in California if he believes he can't recoup the cost elsewhere.
Keep in mind that his company also didn't have to accept the bailout money either.
Also worth noting that Chrysler is one of the biggest spenders of advertising. They spend sh!tloads. Maybe if they made cars that are worth a sh!t, they wouldn't have to spend so much on advertising.
