dont reschedule. people are waiting for years to get this done. You can buy ticket again. Instead of USCIS you should talk to airline to change your flight.

They rescheduled without a problem. I realized some people wait a long time but I depends on where you live. The field office in out area is not backlogged. It only took 6weeks from the time we filed for her to get an interview. Everyone said it would take 8-12 months. So we plan to spend holiday with family. It happens, we were honest with the USCIS. Good luck with you case.

  2. We need to change the date for my wife's citizenship interview. Problem? What type of reasons are acceptable?

We applied for my wife citizenship about 6 weeks ago. We then received notice very quickly that she would not need to do the biometrics again because the biometrics from her green card would be used. It was our understanding it would take anywhere from 6 months to a year before she got her citizenship interview. Super happy to report she has an interview scheduled for December 17th 2021.

Here's the problem we've purchased tickets to go back to Brazil for family for the Christmas holidays leaving on the 12th of December. And of course we bought cheap tickets non-refundable.

Here's a question will they accept that as a reason for changing her citizenship interview date?

  3. Hey everyone, My wife was approved at AOS interview on july 25th. Arrived at 10:40am for 11:am interview. They called us in at 10:55. The immigration officer was very nice, she asked us to take an oath and then asked a few official questions date of birth date of marriage, arrival date of my wife and when we decided to apply for AOS. Then she asked us about when and how we met, looked at our photo album. We had not one document with both our names on it. I explained why she asked if we had any questions, we said no, she said ok you are approved.

14 weeks from start to finish of AOS received hard copy of approval on 28th. green card should arrive any day.

    God is so good.

    Good luck everyone.

  4. Hi!

So I didn't read everyone's response, but I'm here to tell you exactly what I took to my interview. (My interview was on June 30th, last Thursday)

Although the check list tells you to bring in "all documents", the immigration officer that interviewed my husband and I had a file with everything I had sent in (I-485, I-30, I-765)

I did want to be thorough and take everything I had, I just ended up spending money on the same exact pictures and photocopies I had sent the first time.

Like, although I had already sent in a certified copy of my marriage certificate, the checklist said to bring every bona fide evidence. The immigration officer already had the first certified copy I sent, so he didn't need another one.

He didn't take anything else from me, except for an affidavit my friend wrote about my relationship with my husband, our lease with both our names on it, car insurance with both our names on it, and bank statement with both our names out it (documents I hadn't sent in previously)

Of course, be sure to take her I-94 and her work permit, if she got one, because if your interview goes well, the officer will most likely take the I-94.

The officer took my I-94, but he didn't take my work permit. -- I think he didn't take it because he asked about my job and my husband said that I had a job interview lined up for later that day. The immigration officer wished me luck on that, so maybe he didn't take it from me because he figured I'd need it soon? Plus, apparently the green card takes up to a month to get mailed after getting approved.

Anyways, after the interview, the officer game me a paper saying that my application is being held for review, which pretty bummed me out because I wasn't sure what that meant. But then I went to uscis and tracked my case and said that my card was sent to be made, and then on July 1st, my form I-485 was approved, and they'd mail me an approval notice.

So, I'm rambling on, but I wanted to share.

Good luck!!! :) :) And don't be nervous. My immigration officer was super nice and laughed at my jokes

    Hi thanks for the reply.

I will like you take everything again most people do. They probably ask you do bring those items incase they are missing anything. The only problem anyone has told me is proving we lived together in Brazil we have been married 10 years and lived in Brazil the whole time until Nov 2015 when we came to the states on a visit. I'm not really worried and am not the nervous type. Our only problem is we don't have any documents with both our names on them from the time we lived in Brazil and she is not on our lease here or on my bank account here because she does not have a SSN. We did not apply for a work card for my wife, she is a stay at home mom. I am counting on the fact we have two daughters born in Brazil with dual citizenship to prove legitimate marriage. Like i said I'm going to take the girls with us to the interview. We are trying to get a letter from our friends in Brazil we rented from to help show we lived together but not sure if there is enough time. Even express mail takes a lot of time in and out of Brazil. Interview is on the 25th.of July.

Again Thanks for the response. a

  5. Do you have a joint cell phone bill? Credit card bill?? File taxes together? Put her name on your bank account.. i dont think your case has any red flags, but they will want to take one joint bill with them. are you on the same lease?

You cant tell me in 10 years you guys dont have your names on 1 bill together. Can you show drivers license/ID from Brazil where you lived together?? can you prove you lived together in Brazil for those 10 yrs??

    Thanks for the help.

We lived in a house owned by good friends, like a apartment on top of a house never had a lease or anything and paid our rent, electric and water together. I had a savings account and she had an account only to receive her pay as a teacher. Driver license in Brazil don't have your address. When we left Brazil we came here on vacation and had not at that moment planned on staying. When we decided to stay our friends mailed a box of our personal stuff, we never went back. I never thought we would need anything like that. Son as crazy as it sounds no we don't have a document of any kind to prove we lived together, we are only a few weeks from the interview.

  6. Thank you for all the responses,

We really don't have a lot of proof other than the time we have been married 10 years and our two daughters with dual citizenship. We did make a couple of trips to the US while we lived in Brazil and I will bring our old passports to show proof. I am also going to bring the girls to the interview, what better proof? We never had a joint account or really anything in both our names everything was and still is in my name. we will take with us lots of photos of wedding and family trip in Brazil and in US.

  7. Just to report our timeline update. As or today June 30, 2016, our interview has been scheduled for Aug 4, 2016. Waiting for the interview notice to arrive in the mail box. Just got EAD approved last week and received the combo card this past Monday. Went to apply for the SSN and only took them 1 day to verify and approve me the Social security card.

No RFE at all through out. skipped the "ready to schedule for interview" part. It's been "fingerprint fee received" from the beginning and directly changed to "interview scheduled".

    Great news. Good luck.

  8. Hello everyone, great news.

On June 22, 2016, we scheduled you for your interview and mailed you an interview notice for Receipt Number MSC1690890520. Your interview is on July 25, 2016. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your interview notice by July 22, 2016, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice.

Hopefully this means you all will be receiving notice for interview soon also. We live in Tennessee and interview will be in Memphis Tn.

    Good luck everyone.

  9. checked my status online today, So now we wait again.

On June 6, 2016, we received your response to our Request for Evidence for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSCxxxxxxxxxx. Our National Benefits Center office will begin working on your case again. We will mail you a decision or notify you if we need something from you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

  10. Did you get your 797 for your 485 in the mail yet? We got notice for an RFIE on 06/01/16 so was a little curious. After 10 years you shouldn't have too much have to prove I would think.

    Hi rob

Yes I received 797 on 4-23 check my timeline for both 485 and 130. on 5-20 received RFIE on 485, I filed my taxes before april 15 so I did not include my tax return for 2015 so they want my 2015 return. Also RFIE they wanted a copy of my wifes birth certificate. In Brazil when you get married they take the birth certificate and it is replaced with the marriage certificate lucky for us she had an old copy we had translated and sent it with the taxes.

As for proving our marriage is legitimate all i sent was 3 photos 1 at our wedding 1 of our first daughter after she was born and 1 of our second daughter after she was born. Also we lived in Brazil for 10 years before we decided to come to the US.

You didn't get a hard copy of 797? if not call and let them know.

    Good luck.

  11. still no update! I'm getting so anxious now, it's been almost a month since I did the bio and no word...

This may be a good sign. 10 days after my Bio i received an RFIE. So maybe you won't get one. Just be patient check your mail at home everyday and your e-mail, don't forget to check your junk mail also just incase a notice went there. I would wait another few day as it's only been a few weeks since your Bio, then call USCIS. Good luck.

  12. Yes, I still can't check my status online. Whenever I enter the receipt numbers I get told the system cannot recognize it.

Had my biometrics appointment today at the Phoenix office. Had to walk through some questionable parts of town to get there (I don't drive yet) but once I was there it was over in about 30 minutes.

it takes about 10 to 12 days after you do your biometrics to get an update online. They are kind of slow about updating online. Good luck.

Question--- where do a person go for the biometrics? Clinic, police station cause of finger printing??

When you receive your hard copy it will have an address for your area. it may be close to your home maybe not. I had to drive 3 hours for my wife's. Good luck.

  13. Was your status updated online, or did you just receive a hardcopy? Looking forward to hear something!

Also, thanks for explaining the signature edit thing.

My status was finally updated online then 3 days later I received the hard copy. I need to send in my tax returns for 2015. I had not filed yet as it was only April 4th so if you did not send in 2015 they will ask for them. They also asked for my wife birth certificate but in Brazil when you get married they take your birth certificate and the marriage certificate replaces that so we don't have it. We are trying to get one now. The funny thing is they tell us that if a birth certificate is not available another official document (such as a marriage certificate) will work. It's crazy, but we will be able to get the BC have it translated and send it along with my 2015 taxes.

Glad to help with the Signature. Good luck.

  14. Hey Everyone, i have noticed that some do not have their time lined on all your posts. It's a good idea to have it so everyone can compare timelines.

In the top right corner where you name is at click on the dropdown menu. (the white arrow by your name) then click on (my settings) on the left of that page you will see a list that starts with (profile settings) select the one that says (SIGNATURE) Scroll down a little on that page and in the (Edit Signature) area you can write out your time line. look at the time line of others to get an idea.

Hope this helps, someone had to walk me through the process also.

    So please EDIT YOUR SIGNATURE.

    Good luck to all.
