  1. I would think that the K1 visa process will not change that much.

When you get the READY at the NVC, you and your fiance have been checked out by the FBI, CIA, Homeland Security, and any other department required by the DOS. I am sure the the process has changed over the years since the 9/11 attacks and will keep on changing as needed. I would guess that certain countries and names will be getting additional checks now after the latest shootings.

I have no problem with being check out or my fiance, we have nothing to hide!

  2. Woohoooo

Got our case number, its in transit to London already and i booked the medical as I have had all the shots and have the police report

Cant believe how fast its moving now :)

    Yahoooo to you trudi!

I'm in the same boat as you crossing the pond. Got my letter from the NVC yesterday saying our petition is on its way to London too! Website said it a week ago, but the letter makes it official! Were waiting for my fiance to get her medical and military records back before she books the medical. She too has got all her shots a couple of weeks ago. B-)

Lets keep it moving people!

  3. My fiance has been here a few times and has met my mum many times, they even go out to play bingo on Wednesday nights. One day on her last visit here she was talking to my mum and my mum was nodding and smiling. My fiance was waiting for an answer and my mum never replied. I asked her (mum) what she thought. Mum said about what! Keep in mind that my mum is 84 years old. I asked did you hear what she asked. Mum said No,I have no idea what she was asking, I just love to hear her talk

I remember the first time we talked on the phone and I was in aww of her accent too but now I'm so used to it that I barely notice it anymore. Now only thing now we both notice is when we use a word that has different meaning but it doesn't happen too much anymore.

  4. Thanks Nich-Nick!

We read the fine print in the status window and it said: Follow the instructions that will be mailed to you or go to this link. The link takes you a standard immigration visa instruction page and not a K1 visa instruction page.

So the website will only give you the current status or whereabouts of your K1 visa which is displayed in the blue box. The K1 visa as you said only stops at the NVC to get a case# and then is forwarded to the London embassy in my case.

No paperwork needs to go to the NVC for a K1 visa only the London embassy after they contact you.

Hope I got it correct, just wanted to put it in my own words to get it in my head.

Its a crazy world out there and were all a part of it!

    Thanks again!

  5. I have a question, went to NVC website after calling in and finding out my case#. Put in case# and wondering why it only worked for an immigration visa and not non-immigration visa and the instructions on the NVC website call for a lot of stuff (6 steps including getting a agent). Have the instructions changed recently or are they for another kind of visa and not a K1 visa or could they of entered our information wrong? I'm thinking another kind of visa because i have not read nor heard anything about this for a K1 visa but just want to be sure on this. Thank you in advance for any light you can shed on this.

  6. Hi Everyone!

I haven't posted on here before but I have used it throughout our visa process to get information etc..

I had my interview yesterday and got approved! Couldn't be happier so just wanted to thank everyone on here for their help and advice :)!!

Congratulations you two! Have a awesome life together!

    Very happy this morning myself,

Called NVC and they received my case yesterday and I also got my LND# :joy::dance:

  7. Yahoooo!

I got the NOA2 in mail Friday!

She's starting this week to get the medical part taken care of. Getting needed shots and medical history together.

Military and police reports in process too.

We are hoping to have interview soon after the beginning of the year if all keeps going as well as it is.

    Wedding if February, fingers crossed!

  8. My fiancee graciously said she will come here to the USA. I come from a small family, brother and dad passed away so it leaves only me to take care of mum. We figured it would be easier for her to come here first to help with my mum because mum don't have all that many years left anyway. We figure that when mum passes, i should be able to retire if not retired already and then we will start the move over to England to be with her mum since her dad passed already too. We also have 2 wiggle butts (Dogs) now who do not like to travel. Guessing this is a 5 to 10 year window at most.

From what I am reading on the rules to move to England, we should be able to make it if it doesn't get any harder then it is now. Selling the house and banking the money would give us the money needed for the UK requirements. We will be able to live off the retirement accounts we have and social security if it is around.

Once her mum passes then it is off to any county that is warm all year round and has a large body of water next to or around it. Not saying the southern or western parts of the US are off the table! I would love to live in Hawaii but very very expensive.

This is the plan anyway at this point in time.

  9. OK, I am neither British nor married to a Brit, but I love languages (and first learned British English before I moved to the US, so am well versed in both versions), but I have to ask: what or who is "granny kip"? :)

granny kip is a short nap ;)

  10. Here is a funny one,

My mum(mom) had asked my fiance to hold the fanny pack with the cash in it during our garage sale and her eyes got real big and she was giggling a little. She pulled me over to the side and said in England fanny refers to a women's private parts. lol

We both were laughing in Virginia beach when there were large 3 foot signs saying Fanny packs on sale here!

  11. Funny Thread!

When I first talked to my fierce on the phone i was very impressed with her accent, Now its just normal for me but all of our friends here sill comment on it and of coarse everyone we meet new here has something to say nice about her accent. When she goes back to England though, all her family and friends say she is speaking more American every time!

Me on the other end, I am speaking more English as time goes on!

I'm going to turn on the air-con before I hover that bloody rug then going to have some shepherds pie and pudding before I take a granny kip then going out to meet my blokes at the pub! I also bought some new trainers too! I'll be a regular Cockney soon! ;)

When we first meet over in England she took me out for a traditional English breakfast at the hotel we were staying at that included some "Black Pudding" YUK!! I know now why she was laughing as I eat my first mouthful.

  12. You do understand it will take around four years for her to become a U.S. Citizen? Then you won't have to worry about coming back to the U.S. if you decide to. No worry about maintaining her permanent resident status that way.

Yes I know, mums got a good 5 to 10 years to go and if something happens earlier then we will wait until all is completed here before we would move to UK so that we both could return to US if we wanted too.

    Thanks again Nich-Nick!

  13. Unless your fiancé actively applies to loose her UK citizenship then she will retain it and even if she did apply to resind her Uk citizenship she could only do that if she already had another citizenship.

The issue that may be a problem for you comes with her being able to bring you over to the UK, as she will need to be earning in the uk over a certain amounting order to sponsor you to come over, this cannot be in savings or be from a co sponsor.

    Nice for the first part!

Yes that worries me as reading some information here! Once I retire, I will be able to support both of us with no problem here. I know it would be enough to support both of us there too. She will be getting a nice pension too from the RAF but that would be down the line. If we are married and have joint accounts showing enough in them to support us without working would that work?

    Thanks for the reply Illiria

  14. I have a question about moving to the UK after living in US.

We have filled our I-129F and are planning to get married here in the US in early spring if all goes as planned. We are planning to live in the US until my mum passes on and then I will retire so then planning to move to the UK to be with her mum until her time comes. My question is will my bride to be still have her UK citizenship? If not is there something we need to do?

  15. In U.S. Citizen Part 2 under 2.4 Relationship: If you met through an online website, you must submit a copy of the signed written consent form that the International Marriage Broker obtained from the alien authorizing the release of her/his personal contact information to you, or documentation to establish that the website is not an International Marriage Broker.

This is the part that we must prove for what I'm told.

The administrators for both sites are going to provide us with a signed letter stating the above.

Trying to clarify: We met on line and met in person 6 months later.
