  1. that was easy. I can't believe all that work to get this done, for a 4 minute interview that within the 4 minutes talked more about things off topic than the actual visa part. I have been through the wait like that before with a P1 Visa, same thing, took a while because they weren't exactly sure how to do it.

  2. Hey guys,

I had my interview and received my package from the consulate, The package came with a print out that said do not open, and my passport was in the shipping envelope not the actual package. I am just confirming that my next step is to cross the border and have the border peeps do there thing with the package?

    Thanks!

  3. Gotcha now. Do you know if, once issued the Visa, it expires at all? Hypothetically speaking, how long do you have until to must cross the border to marry. I know that once you do cross you have 90 days, but is there a time limit you must cross within? Does that make sense at all?

  4. OK, can you see my last post, it added to the original post. I was wondering why people had to get DS260s when I only had to get a 160?

I saw your post! let me read it

What is the CR1/IR1? for already married folks?

  5. I got my Packet 3 already, I submitted the Packet 3 with the checklist check marking the things I have as well as the passport photo and the DS-160 bar code. They replied with the Packet 4 literally right after. It says "if applicable" in brackets in the instructions with no code letters suggesting anything. In the email "Packet 4" that I got it just says to Schedule your visa interview appointment, pay the fees, get a Medical, and then what to bring on the day of your interview. Then it says what to do after the interview. I am going for a K visa.

how come some people replying to this show that they got DS-260s? and I just had to get the DS-160 in order to schedule a K Visa interview?

  6. turns out I did get the Packet 4 in an email. At the very very bottom of it it had (Packet 4). All good, I now have my medical booked. I have one more question though, on the checklist we have of things to bring to the interview, what if some of the items don't pertain to us, such as the court documents, Adoptions decree (s), Marriage certificate (s), Death and/or divorce certificate(s) etc. Do we just put N/A on the checklist and not include them I assume?

  7. Hi guys,

I have an interview set for March 30th. I haven't received any notification saying I need a medical? I just got approved and my next step was to schedule an interview date. Does this seem right? I thought I needed a medical done

  8. Hi everyone, quick question. I received my interview date at the consular office but have an issue. The passport with the passport number I have been using all along has gone through the washing machine and is now damaged. I know that if I was to apply for another one, the new one would have a new passport number which will not coincide with the number I have been using all along to this date. Is there a way I can notify anyone of a new passport number? There is an option on the passport application to request the old passport back, perhaps if I did that and brought both to the interview that might help? Thanks, Mike

  9. I have to make my interview date and the "first available appointment" is sooner then we would have liked, it is possible to get a later date? Seems odd but there are good reasons for it. Thanks!!

  10. ahh just figured it out. That is weird as when I used to try and select I need "I need to schedule a k visa (fiance or child/spouse) appointment" it never accepted the DS-160 confirmation number. Now it does, I assume that is the option I select as I am at that point.

When I enter the US and marry my fiancée, how long do we have until we are required to apply for my AOS? I know it is an odd question but I am just wondering!

Also, is my fiance required to be there for my interview?

  11. Ok thanks. I was confused because I looked online at what the packet 4 looks like and it is not the email I got. I guess I need to call the embassy to get my DS-160 number so I can schedule the interview. All I have is the confirmation number and it doesn't work.

  12. I never got the packet 4 back. It just said packet 3, when I get the documents and check off the list I need to send it back. I did that, then got an email to schedule an appointment. To get the DS-160 number can I call the embassy or something? I only got the confirmation number. Also, if I need to DS-260 how do I get that? I never got the packet 4

  13. Hi guys, I read a few different posts re: packet 3 info but have found several different responses. My question is after I email back the scanned 3 documents for the "packet 3" to the Montreal consulate, do I wait to hear back (to get the packet 4) from them regardless of if I got an email nearly right after emailing the packet 3 documents telling me to book an interview?

  14. I emailed the packet 3 stuff back, but at the same time I can't book an appointment because i don't have a DS-160 number. The email I got back tells me my next step is to schedule an interview and says to go to http://canada.usvisa-info.com to do it. When I go to that link I sign in and it says for me to pick the "service type that fits your needs." My options are below. The first 2 selections require a DS-260 number, which I do not have and when I go to complete the DS-260 it says that "a DS-160 needs to be filled out in order for a consular section to process the case," the third requires the DS-160 number, which I don't think I have (I only have the confirmation number), and the fourth option doesn't apply to me.

    1. I need to register an Immigrant Visa appointment
    2. I have received a letter from the consular section with instructions to schedule an appointment.
    3. I need to schedule a K Visa (fiance or spouse/child) appointment
    4. I have received a letter to register or schedule a Diversity Lottery visa appointment
Do I have to wait to get the Packet 4 in the mail now that I have sent the Packet 3 items in my email? And if so, do I get the DS-160 number from the Packet 4, or notice to complete a DS-260 from the Packet 4?

When I go to see if I can even pay a fee for the documents and visa, I plug in my information into the Immigrant Visa Invoice Payment Center and it comes back with:

The National Visa Center has forwarded your file to the US Embassy/Consulate where you are applying for an immigrant visa. Any other required fees must now be paid directly at the Embassy or Consulate at the time of your interview.

Please contact the US Embassy/Consulate if you have any questions. You can find the contact information by consulting this list of US Embassy/Consulate websites.

When I check my status with the CEAC it says "READY" Your case is ready for you to schedule an interview at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal. If you have already scheduled an interview appointment, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the Consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at:http://nvc.state.gov/interview

  15. Hi everyone,

I am very confused at where I am in the process. Here is what I have received over the last few days:

    1) an email stating that my visa case is being processed by the Montreal Consulate General of the U.S. It tells me to complete the Packet 3, and send them the checked checklist, a copy of my passport, and the application form (DS-160). I did all that, emailed it to MONTREAL-IV-DV@STATE.GOV.

    2) A short time after I emailed those documents, I recieved an email that stated

    -----------------------------------

This office has completed the review of the below-referenced immigrant visa case. You are now ready for an interview at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal, where all interviews for immigration to the US from Canada are processed. This letter provides information on the next steps you must take to continue with your immigrant visa case.

    Schedule your visa interview appointment

Please visit http://canada.usvisa-info.com to obtain information online or via telephone concerning scheduling an interview appointment for you and those family members included in the petition. If you have not previously registered your information and selected a Loomis courier location on this website, please do so now.

You must have the Passport Number, Date of Birth, Nationality, MTL case number, and visa category for each applicant (principal applicant and all family members, including children) ready in order to access the website. When prompted to select “Trip Purpose”, you must choose ‘Permanently Immigrate to the US.’ After entering your information, you will be prompted to select an appointment time for you and your family.

    Fees

If you have previously paid all fees due to the National Visa Center, there will be no additional fees to pay on the day of the interview. If you have not paid fees at the National Visa Center, please be prepared to pay the following fees on the day of your interview.

    ---------------------------------------------

    3) I went to http://canada.usvisa-info.com where I selected an interview time (only one available apparently) which is January 7th. I also have a medical date.

According to this website (process attached below) I am all over the map for what to be doing and what I have done -- http://travel.state....yment-faqs.html

    The Immigrant Visa Process

    • Right now I have an interview scheduled. All I have done is been approved for the Petition
    • I have not recieved my Packet 4, does that come after the interview?
    • Does this process sound right? I have everything I need for the interview (according to what the pack 3 checklist says) and the medical.
    • I have not chosen an agent
    • I have not paid for anything (as I and do not have the DS-260, I tried to do the DS-260 but it says that the DS-160 needs to completed (which it is)).
    • I feel like something is wrong here and something isn't added up
    • The only forms I have submitted since the email for me to do the DS-160 are the Confirmation of the DS-160, Passport copy, and checklist showing I have the items required.
    • What is the "Diversity Lottery appointment" I have also selected my "Courier"

IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME HERE I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. MY INTERVIEW IS VERY SOON AND I AM VERY CONFUSED. If you need any other information please ask, you can PM me or email me m.dalt@hotmail.com.

    Thank you in advance

    M

  16. I emailed the MONTREAL-IV-DV@STATE.GOV the DS-160 receipt, copy of my passport, and the check list of everything (which I have already). I got an email back saying "This office has completed the review of the below-referenced immigrant visa case. You are now ready for an interview at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal, where all interviews for immigration to the US from Canada are processed. This letter provides information on the next steps you must take to continue with your immigrant visa case."

Do I pay the fees first, then make an interview appointment?

  17. Hi everyone,

We just received out packet 3 and for me to complete the DS-160. I have done that, however, have questions about the checklist.

    1) for court records, if I have not been to court does this apply?

    2) will the passport of my fiance work for "domicile in the U.S."?

    3) if I do not have a date for the interview how am I supposed to get a letter of intent within 30 days?

    Thanks
