I am going to be an american soon and i am already proud of this.Here is my question fellows, ever since i started my journey, my biometrics were done at St. Louis, MO and AOS interview at Chicago,IL. i live in a remote area right at the border of IL/IA/MO (on IL side). USCIS says Des Moines,IA is my field office but like i said i have been instructed to st louis and chicago. mine is a general question out of curiosity and nothing that i am loosing my sleep over. why would USCIS do this ? i mean listing my Field office something and had me go to a different one. So, bottom line is i am not sure which is my field office ? and just recently when i went for my Biometrics regarding N400, i struck a conversation about this with the person who took my fingerprints.he chipped in that there is a possibility that might interview me in Springfield,IL. i was like really ? am i the only one who never had the address changed ever since i stepped on american soil and been to different USCIS offices for different things in spite of having Des moines listed as my official field office. i would appreciate any comments and insights regarding this jargon/confusion/mistake USCIS created (whatever we might want to call it).

So,I checked the USCIS site on the needed documents that I need to submit for my AOS. I was amazed that the fee for AOS is $ 1,070. LOL

I read thread here in VJ a woman says when first time in the USA she was not able to speak english very well .And some day when she was in The BMV

the employee ask her if she want to register to vote and she signed the paper without knowing what did she sign ?

and that delay her application

Now my question : how can I make sure we didnt register for vote by mistake ?

If you/someone mistakenly registered to vote. you will get a voter card at your mailing address.if you got the voter card and you are not sure why you got it means you have unknowingly signed something at DMV. See, proving that it was a genuine mistake that you registered for a vote will be easier than proving that you genuinely made a mistake by registering and than participating in a state/Fed election. DO NOT GO VOTE unless you are a USC. Also, people who do not speak/ write English usually take someone to any official work (just an assumption). Also, lot of DMV offers multilingual clerks. Moral , Do not sign anything if you are not sure about it.

If you are traveling on a Canadian passport, you are a Canadian to the immigrant officer to whom you are handing your passport. Your Canadian passport lists the country of your birth, so that is a non-issue. I am a naturalized US citizen, born in Germany. I am also an Australian LPR. I travel on my US passport, so USA is always the country I list.

if you entering from Canada, just show them your canadian passport. you don't have to disclose if they don't ask you how many nationalities you have.even if they do, tell them you are a dual citizen. they usually track where you travelling from.if you know what i mean.

I completed my fingerprinting at St.Louis, MO ASC on October 1, 2015. what will happen next ? now i understand , they run checks etc. i wanted to know do we get intimated by them in the form of yellow,white letter before the interview letter ? Also, i am aware each case is unique but i am wanting to have a rough idea so as to how long it will it take to change the online status from bio appointment to in line for interview after you have completed the fingerprinting ?

It is a long way off for us, but I am curious, when you travel together with your spouse/fiance can you go together with her/him though the immigration checkpoint at your US POE? seems like someone told me you can, which would bring the stress level way down for most couples

let me pitch in with something you are going to like. in my case ,me and my wife(usc)stood in respective queues at the POE (ORD). the officer asked her to come get me (as they already asked her if she was travelling with someone and she told she was travelling with her husband(myself)).they processed me and my wife together in the USC queue.

also, since me and my wife are jointly filling out the i-751. Do we still need to fill out the Part 7 of the i751 (Preparer's Information) on our name

or we simply leave it blank

Preparer is someone who is filling the form on your behalf like an attorney or any third party. it will go blank in your case if you or either your wife is filling the form.

Even if your wife ever had a A number. you do not want to put that on the I751 now that she a USC. tension ni leni singh saab (no worries)

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that I am a USC and recently applied to renew my passport due to name change. Here is my timeline thus far for anyone else who may find this helpful:

9/22/2015 - Mailed passport renewal package from Boston, MA via USPS with tracking to standard processing PO pox (Usually takes 4 - 6 weeks for regular service)

9/23/2015 - Best friend calls and invites me to travel to London for the Rugby World Cup--PANIC because I didn't apply for expedited service. Call 1-877-487-2778 and get a live human being almost immediately. I ask her if it's possible to upgrade from standard processing to expedited processing even though I didn't include that fee in the check I mailed. She assures me that I can and it shouldn't be a problem, but wait until they receive my passport in their system which usually takes 5 - 7 days after delivery.

9/24/2015 - Passport renewal package is received in Philadelphia, PA

9/25/2015 - According to online passport status tracking, my passport has been received and marked for standard processing

9/28/2015 - Check cashed

9/28/2015 - I call the same number again and tell them my situation. Give credit card number over the phone to pay additional $74.85. Representative tells me that they will not charge my card until they are sure that they can meet my travel dates and give me a passport.

9/29/2015 - Apple Pay alert that credit card has been charged

10/1/2015 - E-mail from State Department at 6:50 PM:

"We have finished processing your passport, and it has been mailed to you.

Your passport application locator number is **********************.

You paid for overnight delivery. This means you should receive your passport on or about 10/04/2015."

Online status updated to:

"Thank you for submitting your application for a U.S. passport book!

Your passport application locator number is *******************************.

We have finished processing your passport, and it has been mailed to you using overnight delivery.

You should receive your passport on or about 10/04/2015."

This went INCREDIBLY fast and I'm really impressed/shocked by it considering I didn't use any private service or need to provide proof of booked travel. Figured these data points may be helpful to someone else down the road. Hopefully it gets delivered today.
