During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators.
If you have filed an I-485, I-589, I-751, N-400, I-90, I-821, I-131 or I-765, you can expect to receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints and/or photographs taken. The timing of your appointment is determined by the number of applicants ahead of you that also need a biometric appointment. We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application. We will send your appointment notice approximately 14 days ahead of your scheduled appointment. It is important that you keep this appointment. If absolutely necessary, you can request that your appointment be rescheduled however, please be aware that rescheduling may delay the processing of your application. Please follow the instructions on your appointment notice if you need to reschedule. Occasionally, you may receive an appointment notice to appear at an Application Support Center to have your fingerprints taken when you have filed a form other than those listed above. In these situations, you may receive your appointment notice more than 30 days after submitting your application or petition.
Got this via email, and I think the physical notice will be the same. Really hope that's a good sign, and I will hear from them in a month or two. -
Almost all cases from April 19 has been transferred , including mine
-
I hope all these transfers are a good thing for both those who are staying in Nebraska and those who are transferred. It seems they are moving cases after mine.
Did you get transferred or are you still in Nebraska? It looks like I am about a week ahead of you.
My case is still untouched, but these 200 numbers look completely random, so I don't think there's any order or reason they are being transferred. Wonder what explanation is given in the letters.

-
Nebraska, hope they don't touch my case :/
-
I am tracking almost all I-130 cases from my PD April 19, and today 208 cases have been transfered. They are obviously overloaded. :/
-
That's good if you are transferred to an office that is not overloaded with cases. I just fear I'm going to the bottom of the pile again and need to wait 4 months again for approval.
I really don't think it works that way. If they're officially telling that processing time is 5 months, it's obvious that they will try fit into that time frame.
-
Apparently Nebraska is quite overloaded after all. A lot of transfers lately. On the other that's a good sign, less cases=less processing time. Let's hope we all get approved soon.
-
APPROVED!!!
After 163 days I finally leave the Nebraska waiting room.
Keep the faith those still waiting. I'm crying tears of joy and you will soon too.
Finally congrats!!!

Hey there! I'm an April filer too, and my case went to Nebraska as well.
So you really need to be patient, cause processing time according to USCIS is 5 months now, and Nebraska got really slow these days :/ -
Im so hoping that August will be the month for all of the April filers out there...

Can anyone tell me how tough is this Embassy? We're in the middle of CR1 process, and I know that it's REALLY hard to get a tourist visa in Armenia, and tourist denials are very high, but what about immigrant visas?
We are concerned because we're gay couple, and there's lots of hate and discrimination towards LGBT people in Armenia. :/ -
Hey April filers, how are you holding up?
-
Did your husband's sister provide more than half of his support for your husband for the year?
I don't think she did, he was living with his dad and mom at that time, and was working on his own. But is it something that can be proved or not?
-
It depends;
was he financially dependant on her? How did he file taxes?
Not really :/
He didn't file any taxes, because his income abroad was very very low.
-
I am really confused. My hubby's sister claimed him in her taxes as dependent , but he was not living in the US at that time. Is there something illegal ?
Help please. -
OK, so my embassy told me that joint sponsor should submit his 3 years of Tax Returns.
So does it mean that I can send last year Tax return to NVC and then on the embassy stage, submit 3 years including 2016?
Help anyone? -
And in the guides here on VJ its clearly stated that joint sponsor needs to provide 3 years of tax returns. Thats so confusing :/
-
You are only required to send the most current years tax documents so you are fine.
Thank you very much ! I'm pretty much relieved.
But are there any chances that NVC will ask for 3 years tax returns, after we send the last years?
-
check with the consulate through which you are applying, it is consulate specific. Some ask for 1 year, some 3 years. The petitioner also has to fill out their own affidavit of support even if they do not meet the income requirements
Thank you for the answer! I've wrote an email to our embassy regarding this question, but what about NVC? Will they accept 1 year return?
Our main concern is that my hubby is listed in her 2013 Tax return as a dependent, however he wasn't living in the US at that time.
-
So, while waiting for our NOA2, we finally found our Joint Sponsor!
So my hubbys sister will be sponsoring, because my hubby don't have any income in the US (Returned month ago)
So will it be enough to provide only LAST year tax return of our joint sponsor? (She's got around 15 years of work history and her income is high, far above the poverty guidelines) -
You're definitely going to get approved in these couple of days!
-
Yes, August is definitely OUR month Wish you all bit patience!
-
Congrats to all who got approved !
Hope they will reach April soon...

According to the information on VJ, Tier 1 officers don't have any knowledge of your case, and usually reading a script, which contains a lot of misinformation. You really should try and reach a Tier 2 officer.
