  1. Only kind of true. My wife went through the same issue. CENOMAR before marriage, CEMAR after marriage. Guess the USEM wants to make sure that the marriage was actually legit and that's the piece of paper that says it was.

Too late to do anything about it now. Take what he has. If not enough or not the correct document he'll get a 221g which may delay the visa by a week or so. It's a common problem with CR1 visas. Another P200 or so and a trip to Pasay City. Just another bump in the road.

The requirement or a CENOMAR are in the Embassy Letter and it states:

CERTIFICATE OF NO MARRIAGE RECORD (if applicable). You must also submit a CENOMAR issued

by the PSA and printed on PSA security paper if you have never contracted a marriage or as deemed necessary by

a consular officer. You may call the PSA Information Center at (632) 737-1111 to inquire about obtaining a

CENOMAR or visit their website at http://www.census.gov.ph.

Like Brassballs stated, bring what you have and if the need something else they will issue a 221g and you will follow the instructions contained within the 221g.

This will slow you down 2-3 weeks.

2-3 weeks?! Praying not that long

  2. As I've been reading through interview experiences I see that they asked for the original Cenomar. I read through on NVC and the embassy for what to bring and nowhere did it say to bring CENOMAR. My husband has only the scanned copy of our Cenomar.

Will that be okay? Could they turn him away for the interview? Would it just delay him able to receive his spousal visa?

His interview is tomorrow morning Manila time.

  3. Well hey, this is the internet age where you can meet someome online, have a fake "dating" and "fiance" period, then get married, and after that actually learn about each other.

It isn't a bad idea to have these threads around because the majority of relationships begin by meeting online and people ignore a lot of the red flags you would see far better if you lived right there to observe their daily behavior, their family and friends, school mates, etc.

Some of the other threads another person posted links to - geez. When you get together it ought to be about the happiest time of your life. Mine works her fanny off for our family and I am very, very grateful for her. She dropped whatever bad habits she had as an immature Filipina teen before we got engaged to marry. Sometimes these teenagers can be a handful for a 50 year old but if they don't behave, just get another one because there are millions to pick from and they make the best wives on the planet.

This was going good until the end

  4. Speak to him about his concerns. Does he feel like he won't fit in school? Does he find english hard to speak? Does he feel alone? Get to the bottom why he truly wants to go back to the Philippines. Let him know you're on his side and you're willing to help him. If he misses his grandparents, let him speak to them on Skype. Maybe he won't get that choice to go back home, but don't leave him feeling the way he does... Help him feel America is home now. :D

  5. The difference is that you already had an interview date scheduled by NVC, meaning your case was already completed. The OP is still in the NVC stage, and does not have a CC yet, so yes, he kind of got a little ahead of himself because he is still not sure if a checklist will be given (hopefully not though).

Just hope for the best! Goodluck! :)

Oh! I didn't see the part that he didn't get case complete yet. What he did was actually really risky.

So good luck OP! Pray for no RFEs and a Case complete before August!

  6. Same thing happened to my classmate, a USC, but he thought he could get away with it. The school couldn't give him his diploma since he was supposed to be registered as a foreign student. The Cebu immigration is a bit corrupt so he got away with it. Did you have any issues with your school?
