  1. Thank you! Kastra the person mention that to me this morning and that had me worried we are not at that point yet. But, that was meaning for us a very long traveling day for when we do. Because, not we are back to one connecting city instead of two. Yay! Have a great day!

With a spousal visa, the visa stamp in your passport is your temporary green card, meaning you can work upon arrival(does not matter where you POE is). The only issue is in order to get paid you will need a social security number, which will take a couple weeks after you arrive to receive.

  2. Great question...I am hoping you don't mind me asking an question on top of your question Delfin123. As for as the medical goes can you have your husband/wife do the immunizations before hand to get some of those taken care? Because, I am planning to have my husband do so in order to not have the fees of the AOS, Visa fees and all other cost that will gather in order to get him here.

  3. Thanks Kim for responding. I have been periodically checking USCIS but there hasn't been any change since the NOA1. The system is still showing a date of 7/31 of last update. I was a tad bit confused because I've read here that some received it through mail only and the case status never sent email or text. Although I have a timeline inputted here, I'm outside of the window for estimated receipt of the NOA2 but CSC states it takes 5 mos for processing and I know if I attempt to call I will only be told that it's 5mos. All I can do is wait.

It is any consolation Denise I also signed up for the text notification and never got notified so be patient and you should hear something soon because mine was about 3 weeks behind the timeline that was stated here on visa journey good luck!

  4. Mallafri76, You took the words right out of my mouth. And it really does hurt the true victims that need this visa.

Of course your friend can't get a US green card because he was mugged on the street... The U visas are for real victims of serious crimes, such as human trafficking and slavery.

It says on USCIS' website that "U nonimmigrant staus provides immigration protection to crime victims who have suffered substantial mental or physical abuse as a result of crime. While being mugged can be a scary experience, it is nothing compared to victims of e.g. human trafficking and the U visa is there to help them find their way to some kind of normal life, while assisting police in getting the traffickers behind bars. Link to the information from USCIS:

    http://www.uscis.gov/green-card/other-ways-get-green-card/green-card-victim-crime-u-nonimmigrant

If your friend wants to find a legal way to stay in the US there are other ways, e.g. work visa, spousal visa, student visa etc.

On a personal note, I wish people would think more about the consequences their actions have on other people. By putting in applications for a U visa because you've been mugged on the street or any other "petty" crime, it means that USCIS have to spend time dealing with those ridiculous applications, which takes time away from the real victims that do need and deserve the U visa.

  5. Good Morning Charles! I've read that i can see the Domestic Violence in this but that would have to be family, husband or wife but to be robbed at gun point. How could that be possible to apply for an U visa?

  6. Good Morning! i just wanted to share we filed our I-130 on June 17, 2015 got our first NOA1 on June 23, 2015 after that we received an need more evidence because, USCIS stated I didn't put a document inside the packet. We got that on Septmeber 5, 2015 I mailed it back out on September 8, 2015 due to the holiday and on September 26,2016 received the NOA2 of the Approval Notice

The process is a very stressing one but, I do feel that as long as you have all documents and information needed the process will go in a timely manner. Good Luck!

  7. Congratulations! to everyone that have received their APPROVAL NOTICES!!! we just gotten ours on September 26, 2015 and filed paperwork on June 17, 2015 with first NOA June 23, 2015 with that being about 95 days! We wish everyone the BEST of luck....Thank you! to the young lady that came into my life for a short time and told me about VJ because, this has been a huge help to us for information.

    Congrats :)

My case was received at my local office on 14th sep

can u elaborate that what is next ? how much time more i could wait for approval ?

    plz reply

  9. Oh! WOW! this is so sad to know that your child could have soon been with you. Please contact the USCIS and maybe they can guide you on what steps to take. I will pray for you all because to be pregnant and then this added stress is not good. Take care and the best of luck.

The ceac.gov status is still saying Ready..... her passport was return to her the same day with a letter that the petitioner withdraw his petition

  10. Only you and your husband knows what your position is in your marriage and that's the way it should stay. But, my advise would be maybe checking to ensure that he has really withdrew the petition because, maybe that is him just running his mouth if he is the controlling person as you have stated. Good Luck!

So I been having problem in my marriage due to my husband cheating. My daughter interview was September 4 at the embassy my husband withdraw her petition due to his controlling, spiteful and abusive way.. I am a LPR what can I do? I can provide evidence of his cheating....

  11. Good Afternoon! I guess I should have been more clear. We are already married and we've filed the I-130 was just thinking if everything is not in order for him to come that way we was hoping for him to come doing the Xmas holiday.

  12. Oh! wow! I am sadden to hear that he wasn't honored a visa to put his mother laid to rest. My husband would have to return because, his (our) son , my stepson is still there along with other members of the family that we would still have to visit and stay in contact with. Yes, I wish it was easier as well but, there are rules and guidelines that we must follow for this long visa journey.

We tried and my fiancé was denied even for his mother's funeral in the states because with a US fiancé and weak ties to Jamaica the presumption was he would not return...but the answer is yes you can apply but if funds are tight I would put that money towards a ticket to see him. I wish it were easier.

  13. Thank you! for replying I am an US Citizen and my husband is the beneficiary in this matter

yes you can apply for a visitor visa while you are waiting for the spouse visa, I do not know if the visitor visa will be approve since you will have to provide strong ties to your country. and being married might make it harder but yes it is ok to do that

  14. I sent our I-130 on June 17, 2015 and heard back by June 23, 2015 the timeline is really on point. I was stressing when the timeline here on the VJ website was stating we should have gotten an update between August 8-11th. Once we didn't hear anything July and August but, finally heard something on September 5, 2015 stating that something I know I pick in the packet of information wasn't there I felt a lot better. So, I resubmitting on September 9, 2015 via certified mail and USCIS in Laguna Niguel, CA got it on September 11, 2015. Good Luck to you guys and I am hoping you will hear something soon.

  15. Good Evening! VJ Family

I know the question I'm about to ask may have been asked before. My husband and I have filed the I-130 in June 2015 during the process of waiting for the approval can we submit for a visiting visa? Thank you in advance.
