  1. Hi all,

We got approved last Friday! We had to wait a lot because the embassy in Rio was not very organized, but the interview itself was very simple. They only asked four questions:

    1. When and how I met my husband

    2. What I do for a living

    3. What my husband does for a living

    4. If I have ever met his family

My husband and daughter came to the interview with me - but the CO barely looked at him. Honestly, it felt like the decision was already made and he just asked those questions for the sake of it.

Dwheels, Sukie, you are both amazing on this thread. I would have never done so well without following this forum and your advice.

We are all very grateful (L)(F). Thank you!

Congratulations. That sounds like a real nice interview, short and sweet.

After you finished up with the NVC, it was nice and easy from there on.

    Thanks for sharing.

  2. Sorry I'm so late, I have been extremely busy and haven't been online. I had my interview on November 5th. Our interview went pretty well, the CO asked the basic questions like, when did we get married, where do I work, my job title, at the end of all the questions she said Congratulations, but tell your wife to send a new AOS and my tax returns, and a joint sponsor, and his international passport. I was so confused about that because I really thought all my finances were in order, and NVC didn't say anything was wrong. Anyway, I quickly gathered all the documents needed and sent it off. He will drop everything off tomorrow. Hopefully this will be over soon.

Happy to hear the interview went well.

Some of the requests seem a bit odd though to me.

  3. Please anyone assist. Me and my husband are scheduled for an interview on December 3th, and at the same time we should be in different country on vacation. My husband called customer service, and being told that, if we cancel the interview, we my by denied for citizenship. Does anyone know something about this.

You can reschedule an interview. If you are able to go in person to the USCIS field office and write a letter, sign and give them that works better.

It will delay your naturalization but you shouldn't be denied for that.

  4. It seems the positive relationship with the US and the Philippines has contributed to that.

The fastest CR1 cases I have seen recently were from Italy and Georgia. They pretty much got and will get the CR1 close to 5 months, which is super super super fast.

  5. Can anyone answer this. My case was approve on Oct 29th at the Kingston embassy, I check the status the visa was undergoing AP, and however yesterday the status updated saying it's ready for interview, can someone tell me if they had this issue and where do I go from here somehow it seems backwards. Thnx

I think I have heard of this happening.

    See here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/547015-ready-for-interview-to-ap-to-ready-for-interview-again-k1-visa/

Is it possible you could fill out your timeline? That would help others.

  6. OK all...hubby got home and we had a chance to talk about the Interview. Hubby and daughter arrived at the consulate around 9:20 for his 9:30 Interview. He went inside and got his number. A female CO was nice enough to see him with a sleeping5 year old, ask him what number he had and clearly helped to move him up in queue. He went to the first window where he spent about 5 minutes handing over original birth cert for his daughter, police certificate and passports. He was told to sit down and listen for his name. He was called not too long after than to a different window where he was shown a pic of me (the passport sized pot that was sent in the with G-325A) and asked if that was his wife. He said YES and the interview began...She said "tell me about your wife"

    1. When and how did you meet your wife?

    2. How old were you?

    3. How old is your wife's daughter and what is her name?

    4. How old is your daughter? (the CO found it cute that both our girls are 5)

    5. Has your wife ever been married? (she insisted yes even though the answer is no, but when he held firm on the no she reviewed the paperwork and apologized to him)

    6. Have you ever travelled outside the country? she asked about trips he took to England as well as his many trips to the US and asked if he had ever overstayed on any of the trips.

    7. Did you get married on your last trip to the US?

    8. What happened to the relationship between you and your daughters mother?

He says the interview was more of a conversation rather than a Q&A session. He says both COs were pleasant and nice. She told him he would received his passport in 2 weeks.. She did not ask for any of the evidence he brought in. He spent less than 2 hours in the embassy.

Thank you much for the very thorough review. Really appreciate it.

It sounds like it wasn't too bad of an interview. They saw evidence of a bonafide relationship so that is good.

  7. Those guys at the embassy are really tough... The case has not been received yet, and when I asked, how I can get to know, if it is received, they said: "you can write us in the end of November" ... :D and the scheduled interview date is December 2nd! Yeah, you might even reschedule it for us 1 or 2 days earlier, then the initial date :D

I am planning to write on Monday again, anyway, to request the earlier date. Hopefully, we will be luckier this time.

    https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx is normally pretty accurate.

This will be a good guide to track your case.

  8. So I don't know if it was the Senator request or Supervisor Sylvia getting involved that finally got our case moving. Maybe it was a little bit of both but we finally have case complete at NVC. :joy:

So anyone else stuck at NVC who reads this, contacting your Senator and getting hold of a good supervisor, such as Sylvia, does help.

Wow, very glad to hear of the favorable update.

That is impressive how you were able to keep going.

  9. Good news for me, my husband called me up this morning and told me he called NVC yesterday requesting to speak with a supervisor.

The CR said there was no need speaking with a

supervisor that our case has been completed same day 4th November.

He called again and spoke with another CR and was told same thing that our case was completed.

Thanks to everyone here, who kept advising me

never to give up. God bless you all!

I am so glad to hear of the favorable update.

Persistence paid off. Now for the next step. Enjoy this milestone.

  10. Thank you for your help!!Yeah,I was thinking about sending the request to change the name anyway just to be safe.I'm not sure how fast they will correct their mistake..

I just really don't want to delay the case cause once the Holidays roll in it will be worse..

Do you know how long I have to wait for the DS-261 to be added to the case so that IV will finally be invoiced? Also once we sent the IV and AOS package (you were right,I am familiar with the guide :) )how long will it take for them to complete the case if everything is ok and we get no checklists?

Again, thank you so much for your help;it's greatly appreciated.

    You are welcome.

After completing the DS-261, now you will have to call and have one of the agents confirm it. That will unlock the IV fee in a timely manner. That can be a challenge, some don't want to do it too quickly. Some have found that saying: I completed the DS-261 but not sure if everything is ok, could you confirm that I did it correctly may result in the agent being more helpful. You can call again if the agent you speak to is not helpful.

I think after sending in your document, and barring any snafus then from the day they enter it into their system (scan date) they are suppose to review your documents within 30 days. Hopefully you will get case complete within 30 days.

  11. Sorry to hear of the hassle. Not sure if it is a legal thing but hardly will they accept fault. I assume the name was correct on the I-130 petition. Unfortunately, someone had a run in similar to this but at a later stage in the process and it resulted in a pretty significant delays with processing at the NVC.

Ultimately, you may have to send what they requested. I would suggest that you send all of that when you send in your AOS and Civil documents. In one package following the suggestion in the guide that you are probably familiar with. If not, see here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

I think a letter describing the necessary change to be made will be helpful.

As an additional precautionary measure you could request to speak with a supervisor and see if they may have an easier way to correct their error.

All the best with your journey, and good question.

  12. Hey Shams,

I just saw u got a November date that is Wonderful news!!! They were probably like, she's onto us lets just process her fast lolol... But seriously enjoy the time with your loved one hopefully they will get visa in hand fast so they can be here for Christmas!!!

Thanks, that is funny about fast processing lol. I wonder about the workload there sometimes.

Hopefully we can get a favorable interview and hopefully no delays with issuing the visa.

  13. NOA 2 received from the California service center on the 7th of October and Just today NVC has received the documents. A bit upset that it took 3 full weeks for the documents to be transferred, but at the same time i'm excited to finally move on from USCIS.

That is the California service center for you. They process the I-130 very fast but they are very slow with sending it off to the NVC. You basically lose 2 weeks which is very significant.

  14. I guess I wasn't paying attention. I wrote in the wrong forum. Anyways, Dwheels, I want to say thank you for all your support. My husband had his interview in Kingston, Jamaica on 10/6/15 and was placed on administrative processing. On 11/2 I decided to check the status of the case and saw ISSUED. My husband and I are so excited that this visa journey is over. Anyone knows how long would it take for us to have the visa in hand? I'm so ready to purchase his ticket.

Congratulations. I am glad you and your husband can be together.

I am not sure, I want to guess and say 5-10 business days.

  15. For both of our cases, we received a CC email about 1 week after the actual date of CC.

I don't think receiving these e-mails is too important as long as you've confirmed that the case was completed and an interview will be scheduled soon.

I wanted the confirmation e-mail just for my records. It may not seem critical but that is still a piece of this journey I am missing.

Why it never came, even after requesting, who knows.

  16. LOL, I just called NVC, no interview,

re madhouse, this is the answer as to why no email confirmation of CC "mm, I think we don't send Case Complete confirmation emails, you will receive confirmation email after interview is scheduled" we all know this is bs.

I was told something similar. They made it seem like I was referring to something that doesn't exist. Another name is a status letter.

Supposedly they put in a request multiple time for me to get one after I requested. All of a sudden It seems they can't send me an e-mail
