  1. APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!! Hubby had his interview this morning at Lagos Embassy and was approved....we are so happy and excited, according to my husband the interview went quick (2mins) he was asked a few questions. He also mentioned that the CO stated that the way I packed the documents was exceptional. My husband was asked the following and told to pick his visa up in 2weeks. He did mention that the wait was very long his interview was scheduled for 8am but didn’t get interviewed until after 1pm

    Who petitioned for you?

    What does your wife do?

Where and what did you wife study in college?

What type of wedding did you do?

How many siblings does your wife have?

    How many siblings before her?

    How many boys and girls?

She asked for the original birth certificate and police clearance and told my husband that he is approved.

Hubby stated the lady was very nice and didn’t even ask to see pictures or any of our correspondences.

Congratulations. Glad to hear the interview went smoothly. Looks like you guys were well prepared.

  2. It looks like the USEM in Riyadh, KSA doesn't ask for a certificate of no impediment (don't know if they have anything like that there though). That USEM asks for, "Married applicants must obtain an original marriage certificate, or a certified copy, bearing the appropriate seal or stamp of the issuing authority."

I take this to mean that if they did a nikah, they would have had to register it at a civil court for it to be considered legal.

Even if they didn't abuse the K-1, she abused the I-485 where they asked about intentions of espionage or murder. What is wrong with the world? I can't imagine even thinking this, let alone plan and prepare! This guy was talking to people that he KNEW he would murder in a matter of hours!

This world can be demonic and wicked. Stay safe, my VJ neighbors! Hug and kiss the ones you love extra tonight. May this not happen again! (Psalms 46:9, 10; Matthew 6:9,10)

I like your choice of scriptures.

Such an unfortunate occurrence. Last days indeed.

  3. Thanks for clarifying that. That's not for us, then.

Yes, our case was sent to NVC on October 28, and "received" almost a month later, on November 25.

It's just amazing, that those NVC folks have the gall to insist that "it should take additional 42 days to assign the case number", when it already took them almost a month to just "receive" the case!

So far, USCIS did its job perfectly, but it's the NVC that's dragging its feet in assigning the number.

You are welcome. Normally it takes about 7 days for NVC to receive the petition after USCIS has sent it.

There is one problem I had with USCIS. When you receive your approval notice and it says they sent it to the NVC, it could be in some cases 2 weeks before they actually send it to the NVC. My I-130 was approved on 6/22 but it wasn't until 7/9 before they actually sent it to the NVC.

In your case, it will probably be 12/8 or 12/9 when you get your case number assigned. I called pretty much every day until I got the number.

  4. Does this mean that an "expedite request" is in effect a request to bypass the NVC stage altogether, and go straight to the embassy?

If so, that's not what we need. I just need a case number assigned, that's it.

Pretty much. The expeditious processing is when your case goes quicker than normal to the Embassy for processing. If during the NVC stage you can bypass them or if after the NVC and waiting for an interview you will get an interview quicker.

Did you check to see if USCIS sent your petition to the NVC? Sometimes they can be slow about that. I though the NVC was creating case numbers within 12 days of receipt of the petition from USCIS.

  5. Me and my family had immigrant visa interview on Nov 10 2015 at Montreal. Officer ask to submit additional missing I-864A document form and issue us 221g white paper. He told that "Don't Worry, just send this document ".I sent that document on Nov 18 2015 via Loomis Courier and delivered on Nov 19 2015. When I check Visa Status on CEAC, it says

"Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. As the officer told you in the interview, if further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved when administrative processing is finished, you will receive notification to collect the passport with the visa from the Loomis branch you selected when you booked your appointment."

Here is what happened to our case

-10 Nov 2015- Interview at Montreal ( Issued 221g Additional Document Required I-864A)

-18 Nov 2015- Document submitted to Loomis Courier

-19 Nov 2015- Loomis Courier Delivered to US Consulate, Montreal

-24 Nov 2015- CEAC Status "Administrative Processing"

-03 Dec 2015- CEAC Status " Administrative Processing"

How long it takes time to change the status from "Administrative Processing" to "Issued".

How would I know that the document I have submitted is in order. Do I need to follow up at US Consulate Montreal about case.

What should I do? Please help.

We are in a similar position and it is no fun. Unfortunately I don't think they give much priority for such cases.

I don't think there is much we can do but to wait and hope that things will be in order.

I think if it goes beyond the 60 days then we can contact a senator or someone.

It looks like there has been 2 updates on your case so that is real good.

Keep us posted on the progress.

  6. I'm calling on the collective wisdom of the board. What do you guys think? Are there any potential drawbacks to filing an expedite request with NVC?

It's been 45 days since our NOA2 approval, and I need NVC to finally assign our case number, in order to schedule the medical examination. I'd like to get a case number assigned ASAP, so that I could assist my invalid parent with completing the medical exam during my upcoming overseas trip. Everything else beyond assigning the case number (reviewing the case, scheduling an interview date) doesn't need to be expedited, since we're not planning on actually going to an interview until April, so a normal timeframe of 3-4 months after the case number is assigned is fine with us.

NVC suggested I file an expedite request, otherwise I may have to wait additional 5-6 weeks! :-(((

My concern is, could filing an expedite request somehow screw up the case, and make it even longer?

I don't think there is any draw back, they may or may not accept it, that is the Embassy. If they do, you will bypass the NVC. Having all of your documents in tip top shape and then some will be advised.

  7. My mother is our AOS joint sponsor I sent in a copy of my birth paper but failed to send a copy of her birth paper will that hold up our process to move forward?

    I don't think so.

I think what will be required is the following:

____ Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) for each applicant from the petitioner. Affidavits of Support must be original signed versions; copies of signatures are not acceptable. The sponsor must also provide the most recent tax return (Form 1040, and the most recent W2 wage statement if the return is a joint return). If you are submitting documents from a "Joint Sponsor", you will also need to provide a photocopy of the biographic page of their passport, Certificate of Naturalization or both sides of their Alien Registration (Green) Card. Your sponsor(s) may have submitted these documents to the National Visa Center prior to your interview, but you may wish to bring copies in case any documents are missing.

  8. I would like to thank everyone on this forum for making this whole visa journey possible.

No need for lawyers as long as you know how to read and support from the good folks at VisaJourney.

    Best luck to all.

    Thank you,

    KS

    Congrats on getting your visa

Was there a delay in them issuing the visa after the interview?

  9. Good morning everyone, we are having a tough time understanding the expedite process, can any one please share their experience of time frames and the process from when the case arrives at the embassy, our case was completed beore it left NVC, and it is now showing ready on the site, but the embassy is telling us they cant schedule an interview and that it can take 1-3 months! :clock: that doesnt seem like much of an expedite, please anyone, your experience would be appreciated. congrats to all with interviews!

Our experience was that they called within 5 days after it was at the Embassy to schedule an interview.

That seems odd what the Embassy is saying. Since you have made contact they are aware you are waiting on an interview date.

I don't think much can be done, they will schedule when they are ready. They are probably trying to select an available slot.

  10. My brother and family had interview last week and co asked for original i864a form signed between me and my wife and told him everything is fine. They will issue visas as soon they get the documents in. I sent the documents and it was delivered yesterday. Now how long they will take to review and issue visas? There status is on ap online. Any answer or help?

I am in a similar position. I think it is 1-2 weeks. I take it you got 221g.

  11. I am so frustrated with Kingston.. They won't even let me talk to anyone on the phone. NVC sttd my case has been there since 11/24 but they claim it's not when I emailed them Friday. Called and it's all automated. Emailed yesterday-no response. I honestly don't think any other embassy is as bad at communicating and getting people scheduled as Jamaica. Guess their focus is getting the tourist visa money in for the ppl trying to come for Christmas.

Communication is delayed and not so good.

How the do scheduling leaves much to be desired.

I truly think the date is coming soon. It could be due to the Thanksgiving holiday that they didn't do any work. I think maybe that is what happened. They probably starting a fresh this week.

  12. Hello, i need some help, our case was expedited by NVC and sent to cuidad juarez embasssy, case had allready been completed, now the status shows ready on the web site, we called embassy to schedule interview but they stated they dont have dates and that they dont know when they will have dates, any one has experience with expedited cases and scheduling interviews? will we be contacted by the embassy or is it up to us to call everyday until we can get a date?

Based on what I understand they will contact the principal applicant.

  13. Good Morning! I know this question may have been asked before. But, we are hoping someone could please let us know after sending AOS and supporting documents how soon will we know about embassy interview appointment? Thank you in advance.

Best we can do is estimate.

Once NVC gets your package they will send you an e-mail stating when it was received (scan date). It will take about 30 days for them to review your documents, after which if everything is in order your case will be complete at the NVC.

It will take about 3-4 months for an interview at the US Embassy in Jamaica.

    See spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtbvTEwLyHz1dEhlZjdKczRMRmJrSnc5MTk1SkVrYVE&usp=sharing#gid=0

Using the current trend for Jamaica your probly looking at 5 months. If all you civil docs & AOS goes well & you get a case complete. Its running around a month for NVC to review docs. Then the wait time between case complete & interview in Jamaica is about 4 months.

Looks like we posted at about the same time.

    This post is right on.
