  1. Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well.

The day has come, today my husband picked up his visa at the embassy :wow: HOWEVER, getting to that point was outrageous. I would like to start by saying I know our journey is nowhere NEAR as difficult as other people's (not that it's a competition...) but I thought sharing this story might help others.

Interview - July 16th - Not told if he was approved, they kept his passport

About a week after his interview I called the embassy to inquire (which is how I found out it was approved). I asked to speak with someone in charge of immigrant visas. The man told me he was approved but the background check wasn't completed yet.

Anyone dealing with this embassy can tell you the operator (which is always the same woman) is incredibly rude and has hung up on me more times than I can count. The rest of the staff are hit and miss. On the rare chance you're connected with someone, they will give you details on the case. Most of the time, they will make you run around in circles telling you to call back at certain times like it's a game.

My memory is a little fuzzy here but around 2 weeks after I spoke with the man at the embassy, I called DOS to ask if the background check had been completed. They informed me everything has been cleared and the embassy is ready to issue the visa. After this point in time I was not able to reach someone at the embassy for around a month (case status on CEAC remained at "Ready" with very sporadic status updated date changes).

After I felt like I had been dragged through the mud enough by the embassy (I believe we were past the 60 day waiting mark at this point), I opened a case with my senator's immigration office.

In between these stages I did reach someone at the immigrant visa unit at the embassy and he told me the visa is ready to be issued but keep waiting, we're busy, bla bla bla. When I pressed, he told me OK, your husband can come next Wednesday to pick up the visa. Of course when he showed up after a long journey, it wasn't ready and everyone else BUT HIM got their visas. At this point we were furious. The very last time I called the embassy, the operator told me I can NO LONGER call about immigrant visa cases. Obviously this woman hates me because I don't truly believe their policy changed. I would like to also note, that I was as polite and friendly as humanly possible every time I called the embassy.

My case worker's first attempt to email the embassy was left unanswered (they give a grace period of around 4 weeks). My case worker informed me they were required to respond to his second attempt (congressional inquiry) within 2 days. Of course, no response. He asked me to give him 1 more week to work on it which I did. Friday of the end of that week, the case went into Administrative Processing on CEAC and the status updated date changed all through the weekend. The following Tuesday it changed to ISSUED.

From the words of my case worker, after his second email got no response, he "made a call to Washington", to get the situation resolved.

If you read through my short novel, I thank you. I am grateful for all of the help we received from this website, and I'm sure I won't be a stranger here. Best of luck to anyone on this hellish voyage, and feel free to contact me for additional advice or questions.

Thanks for sharing. I admire your persistence.

It is unfortunate the foolishness one has to put up with at the Embassy stage. Either they have too much or they feel they have too much power. It is something else.

  2. Good Afternoon! VJ Family I have a question and I know that one of the season VJers will have us covered. My husband nor myself have received anything from the NVC as of yet which tomorrow will be the 30 days. What would I be looking out from them and what is the next steps we should be taking? We are doing this all on our own along with everyone's HELP!!! from this community.

The California Service Station has been real slow when sending approved I-130 petitions to the NVC. As VZLAN-US-Citizen pointed out, calling the NVC will the wise course of action. I think they have your petition by now but probably haven't assigned your case number. Your case number will be assigned probably close to 12 days after they receive it. When you call, you will know when they received it.

I see your wedding day is the same as ours. May 9, 2015 is a very special day lol.

  3. Hi Everyone!!

I just want to inform you guys, that people who are awaiting interview dates in Mexico (Ciudad Juarez) for December 2015, are already started to get scheduled! Maybe it is just that country right now, who knows, maybe other country's have started too! I would call NVC and just ask for updates. Many are saying the interviews got scheduled today. ?

    Thanks for sharing that update.

Mexico doing big things. Alas some Embassy are not.

  4. We are so happy today is an awesome day. My husband went to the visa pick up center and his visa was there waiting for him. This has been such a long process I didnt think we would survive but today made it all worth it. So glad I found this amazing site to help us through. And Dwheels for everything she did to help. Love you lady.

Congratulations. I looked at your timeline and could see why you said it was such a long process. You both are to be commended for keeping at it. I think that is evidence of deep love for each other. Now you both can enjoy each other's company.

Obviously you both are serious about your marriage.

  5. My husband and I filed in early August sending the i-130. After that was received we filed the i-129 to take a shot at the k3. We checked our status online for the i-129 and it doesn't say "received" like we expected, but instead says "your document was mailed" and that if we don't receive it by Oct 17 we should call.

What document? I'm confused. I thought it would probably just get stuck to the i-130 and say "received" until the i-130 is approved and the i-129 is scrapped.

    Anyone know what's going on?

    Thanks!

Sounds like your I-129 was approved before the I-130. Nice lol.

  6. Praise God!!!

He has been great throughout this visa journey. My wife was approved for immigrant visa today, while I waited outside the consulate in Mumbai. The consulate experience lasted less than one hour! It will be a few days for the visa to arrive at pickup location.

I hope that all of us Feb filers will be granted the mercy that God has bestowed upon us.

Glad to hear the good news. I was wondering if you were still on this board lol.

Congratulations. Safe efforts for both of you on your travel home.

  7. I filed a 129F to that I could bring my Filipino fiancée to the united states. We been in a relationship for over 7 years and we met on website called tangowire. I never thought of that as an International marriage broker but today I received a notice in the mail from USCIS that stated the following:

"You indicated that you me the beneficiary through the services of an international marriage broker (IMB). you stated that you met the beneficiary through the online dating web site tangowire. This website is considered to be an international marriage broker as it is a business that charges fees for providing dating, matrimonial, matchmaking services, or social referrals between united states citizens and foreign nationals. Therefore, you are required submit a copy of the signed written consent form that the international marriage broker obtained from the beneficiary, Joana N. Alvares Machado, authorizing the release of her personal contact information to you."

Ive been rereading that paragraph for the past several hours and Im just not understanding exactly what it is asking me to do or how to go about it. Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

Based on what I understand, your fiancé should have a form that gave this website permission to display her information. It would be electronic or hard copy. If electronic, print it out and send it to USCIS.

  8. No, not expedited by NVC. The NVC said they are reviewing the material to expedite, which means the embassy is looking at the file. The I-130 visa was expedited by the California Service Center. How long does an expedite review take?

You should hear something within a week.
