  1. I think I read some people who made mistakes on their i864..were asked to bring revised form to interview....(if it is only small difference in $ and you are well over the poverty requirement) .... hope we don't get a check list for the mailing/physical address either

My 864ez was the first document to review in the package, so i wonder if they started going over it. Plus side is it hasn't been long since they started.. i guess I'll gather documents as if I'm going to send it on Monday morning and see what they say about this tax question specifically.

  2. Can somebody answer me please!!

I had an email from nvc on the 19th of aug, they said they review my ds260 and their missing my aos and all other supporting docs that i already sent on the 10 of july, however, i called nvc and the operator told me to ignore it they havent review it yet. Does anyone know how long it usually takes them to review the aos and civil docs after reviewing the ds260 and the date if the false checklist. Anyone had this situation or having the same situation.

    http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process#Step_9_-_Review:_Checklists_and_Case_Complete

    "False vs. Real Checklists

If you sent the packages, then get a checklist asking for one of the packages, just ignore it; it's a false checklist. Please understand that as soon as NVC reviews a package, they very frequently generate a checklist for the other package, without even checking if they have it in the building first.

The only time a checklist is real (and not false) is if it asks for something very specific missing in a package (like a police certificate, for example). If it asks for something general, like the entire package, then you can assume it's false. Call up an operator at NVC to confirm either way."

  3. Did the income you put on the form covered the 125 % poverty guidelines which is about $19998 for a household of 2? If that is the case then I will just sit tight and wait otherwise you can call NVC to see if they want you to submit an updated I-864ez

To clarify, my mistake was a simple one: i put down adjusted gross income for total income when it is clear I used 1040 which uses total income, line 22 (not 1040EZ)

The amounts are only different by less than $100, and both are definitely over poverty levels. It did not occur to me at the time that i used 1040

  4. I think I also made a mistake...left blank physical address....the new i864ez has a question "is your mailing address the same as your physical address" YES NO...I checked box YES....then it says if you answered NO to item number 3 provide physical address below......so I left it blank....maybe should have put N/A...but I think it is clear that if I answered YES...both mailing and physical address are the same....

I did the same thing. In the correction, I'll put N/A .

Guess they are not available to give advice until early Monday morning

  5. Tax transcripts plus current pay stubs for last few months, and a current employment letter kf possible is the best way to go. Good luck!

I was told by a lady at nvc that most recent pay stub will suffice, so i sent that and previous 3 tax transcripts (they only care about 2014.) The wording on my employment letter did not read well to me so i didn't send it. Most recent pay stub has year to date information to show above poverty income and obvious employment when documents were sent. Logically speaking, that should be enough.

  6. I have no idea. Ever since I've been at NVC they have been saying it's locked. There explanation is it's new and they are still putting our info into the system. i just don't know if i need to just keep calling and trying to get different people or if they really just can't. I'm going to call again today and hope I get somewhere.

How long does it typically take for them to review the DS260 if they can't do it over the phone?

I don't know what option you are selecting but personally i have had luck with selecting no option. Instead, I just wait for the next available person, who always seems to be more capable than the ones who are tied to certain tasks.

Just my personal suggestion.. then ask what you can do to get it unlocked. Is the system waiting some input from you? Suggest to them that the system is not "locked," it's just waiting for your ds261 to be reviewed!! Try keywords like can you "help" me "go over" the ds261..?

  7. Amen!

Yes, I was there for my masters and then OPT. I had to go back to my country because my dad got terminally sick and passed away 15 days after I arrived in Indonesia. We were planning to do AOS from the US but God has other plan so here am I now 'stuck' in Indonesia. :)

Ohh yes, I remember your story now... God has a plan for each of us, though we may not understand now or later. I think this time away from spouse is a blessing in disguise, something to look back and reflect on and tell children about.

  8. It's really ambiguous. One said they review it even before you're done paying IV fee, one said after. From what I know is it's after you are done with IV fee and DS-260 then NVC is ready to review tour package. I've read somewhere that someone got case complete only 10 days after he was done with DS-260 although he sent his package way before. So I'm not sure.

Yea, here is an example... taken from K & V's signature on the NVC thread, showing a difference of only 7 days from completion of DS-260 and apparently case completion:

"August 8th 2015: Mailed AOS/IV package. AOS Invoice marked as "Paid" on website

August 12th 2015: Received email - Scan Date (August 10th)
    ...
August 19th 2015: IV Invoice marked as "Paid" on website. DS-260 available (Completed DS-260 August 20th)
August 27th 2015: AOS Fee changed from "Paid" to "N/A" - Case Complete!"
  9. They won't review your package until you submit DS-260. But at least if you send your package beforehand, NVC can review your package right away without wasting one or two days for delivery time.

Why did NVC lock your case? I was wondering since many people's case are getting locked. Are they reviewing the case?

Are you sure they don't start reviewing documents in package until after DS-260 is completed?

From what I heard from NVC, it is a parallel process... supposedly meaning they don't need to wait for IV to be submitted before starting to look through package contents. They do obviously need to view DS-260 before case complete.

I'm not certain though about the process.
