I’m on the exact same boat, but I think I’ll wait to file the N400 to not mix things up since they seem to be reviewing cases in the past couple of weeks. Can’t wait for an approval or RFE, any updates would be great at this point.

@starsky
Update for February 2018 Vermont filers.
For those of you have had your files transferred on February 13 and February 14 from Vermont to Texas Service Center.
These are people with receipt numbers between EAC180875 and EAC180955 (by my own observations).
The Texas Service Center has officially begun to work on these batches last week.

@ligiam1412 - See this post. I stand corrected. This gentlemen/lady has the most up to date information on RMV’s requirements. I understood the new rules incorrectly, so now the proof of lawful presence is required. And it appears the RMV knows how to deal with an extension letter.

Hi everybody!
I usually don’t post anything but noticing that a lot of you guys have questions about the DMV and DL I decided to come in here and explain it.
I work for the MASS RMV and I know all about policies and procedures regarding the standard and real ID.
if you need to renew or if your first time you will need a lawful presence document. In our cases you will need to bring the expired green card and the NOA. At the RMV they will use the alien number and the receipt number on the NOA.
All types of ID requiere a lawful presence document. But the difference getting the real and the standard is the other documents you need to get it.
Standar ID:
- Lawful presence document
- 1 proof of address
real ID:
- Lawful presence document
- 2 proof of address
- proof of social security number
https://www.mass.gov/files/documents/2018/09/28/ID Documents Checklist_0918.pdf
If you need to renew or if it’s your first time, the system will issue an ID only for a year. When you get the green card you can go back and renew it to have one for 5 years.

I've heard that we do not need to share that info to our current emoloyers and that they are not allowed to ask. We are lprs now regardless of card status.

Yes, that is correct if you are with the same employer and you have first produced your green card as a proof of work authorization, the employer may not ask for proof again as long as you continued to be employed, or that would be considered discrimination based on the country of origin.
If you do change your employer, or if you did not use your green card (instead use your EAD, for example), the new employer or the current employer (whom you showed the EAD to) may ask for proof of work authorization as a condition for continued employment.
That is the law. You can read Form I-9 instructions.
