Generally embassies can provide an emergency document valid for travel, for example a passport replacement valid for one year only. You may have to provide proof of an emergency. Just call your embassy and ask what your options are.

I received a letter from my employer a few days ago stating that my "Green Card and extension letter are not valid to extend my employment"
If you can't get anyone in HR to listen to you, make an infopass and take the letter with you. Explain the situation and ask for a i-551stamp in your passport. That should satisfy them.

Do you mind sharing what you mean by the “actual letter, not a courtesy notification”?
Did you get an 18 month extension letter than looks similar to the 12 month one (meaning green background, thick paper)?
All I got was 2 pieces of thin paper that say “this is a courtesy copy, not the official notice”
Yes, meaning that the letter I got looks like the 12 month one and does not say "this is a courtesy copy"

Received 18 months letter yesterday too, WAC17245; the actual letter, not a courtesy notification.

My extension letter states that it will extend my conditional residence by up to one year from the expiration date on my green card. So, this is october for me, but applied for removal in july. I am assuming my extension is not from the time i applied, but the green card date?
Yes, green card date.

I and my spouse have been going through some ups and down and I decided to file for divorce. my lawyer filed the divorce last month. However, I have been worried because I thought I need to notify USCIS, I discuss it my my lawyer and he said the immigration rules and procedure on this issue are not clear to him, Therefore, He want to speak with an immigration officer to get a better feel for the procedures that will be applied once UCSIS learns that I have filed for a divorce. He further said if I choose to tell, USCIS might ask me to start a new application or denial my application. Please anyone with clear understanding should help me.
I would recommend posting this as a separate thread in the main ROC forum. You'll probably get more eyes on it and better answers.

Sorry, I am an Engineer and very particular. If the instruction says I must write N/A then I do not willingly violate the instructions by writing NA.
I know many have different approach to details but a German Engineer will be more particular
You can also just write it out as not applicable

I can show prove with my marriage certificate. CAn any one help me please. IM really worry about this .
I traveled last November with passport maiden name, GC married name. Book tickets in maiden name as it has to match the passport exactly. Take the marriage certificate to show the link to the new married/GC name.
The only person who asked me about the difference in name was the flight pre-check attendent on the way back to the states. I showed her the marriage certificate and it was fine. No issues going through CBP.

My bio metric done on 09/05/2017. When I reached at the center, I asked the security personal with my photocopy bio metric letter that,
Can you verify this is the time and location. He asked my ID, I gave him my Driving License. He checked and put a stamp on my photocopy bio metric letter.
I told him this is photocopy, You have to stamp on original not on photocopy. He replied, not worry we will give you the biometric letter to you.
It doesn't matter , It is photocopy or original. My bio metric done smoothly and at the end, they gave my bio metric letter with stamp and another copy where my personal details are mentioned which i filled in the support center.
Now I have original bio metric letter with no stamp and photocopy bio metric letter with stamp.
Is everything OK or I have do something ?
You're fine. The important thing is you got it done. Just keep the stamped copy with the original.

Thanks for warning - if not you, we would not have learnt there is a "pest", floating around and destroying our spreadsheets..
If you haven't yet, I'd report it to one of the mods. Especially if it's happening to other threads as well. Thanks for keeping this updated

Hi, all. I still have not received my biometrics notice. I called USCIS and insisted they connect me with a Tier two agent, I chose the call back option (it took 4 hours to receive a call back, another 15mins of waiting while I was being connected to the agent). The agent said my service request wasn't actioned yet (and submitted under an incorrect category), the agent also mentioned it was "odd" that I haven't received my notice yet, and nothing has been scheduled. The agent submitted a new request and said I would receive a letter regarding the service request in 15 days.
That sucks, I'm sorry. Consider making an Infopass appt at the center where you would have your biometrics for immediately after the 15 days, so you least have something ready to go if the letter doesn't show. You can always cancel it if the letter comes.

Piano, could I know when did you receive your Biometrics letter? I received my NOA on July 10, but I am still waiting for the biometrics appointment. I have noticed that some members got it after 12 days...
NOA 1 6/2
biometrics 6/17

Since your NOA is July 10, I would suggest you also start following the July i-751 thread, if you haven't already, to see what the current processing times are:

In I-751 from Page 1 Item 14 :
Conditional Residency expire on (mm/dd/yyyy) :
Which date we have to fill :
The expiry date written in passport or expiry date written in Green Card ?
Greencard expiry date

It seems like most of people here are removing conditions after K1 or K3 visa's. Mine is CR1. A Anyone here is in the same boat?
Are the processing time the same as K1? Was just wondering if it's a complete different ball game?
Thank you guys!
This is the i-751 thread for those who filed to remove conditions in June. Everyone who obtained a greencard through a marriage less than two years old by time of issuance needs to file, regardless of any previous visa. That is to say, we're all in the same boat.

Is we have to submit 2 copies of I-751 ?
As i remember for I-130 for CR1 they need two copies of complete form of I-130.
No just one copy

How long roughly is the biometrics appointment? I know some people on here have had theirs. Got a lot to do that day hope I can fit it all in :).
Thanks all
They are very quick. Not sure if this is standard practice, but at my office they schedule a bunch of people for the same time and then they are processed through as a line. When I got there they were finishing up 10 o'clock appointments and started on the 11 o'clock appointments early. I was in and out in like 5 minutes.

Just to confirm: after i complete the fingerprints chances are that i will not get any communication from uscis or the 10 years greencard for an year? We are planning to go in a road trip for the next couple of months and although we are going to have somebody checking the mailbox we are hoping to not need to fly back or something. My case is in Vermont. Thanks all!
that's correct barring some extreme outlier. Having someone check the mailbox should be all you need in the off chance they contact you sooner, but it's highly unlikely. Vermont is doing June July 2016 filers atm.

In the instructions pdf for I-751, in the Evidence of the Relationship section, they have asked to submit not only the original affidavits but also in the last paragraph they are saying : Affidavits must be supported by other types of evidence listed above.
I have 2 questions, please help me on this :
1 : Can some one tell me what they mean by this ?
2 : I have obtained the affidavits from family and friend. Is it not sufficient ?
It means don't include only the affidavits by themselves in your packet, you have to also submit the other evidence they want, like financial account statements, joint mortgage/lease, etc.

Hello, we got our appointment letter yesterday 7/8 for an appointment on 7/18. Do I need to go with him? Does he need to take anything really other than his resident card? Sorry it's really early and I just saw this in the mail (I subscribed to the usps mail preview when I saw ya'll recommend it and didn't check the mail yesterday and happened to just look at my email on an early morning what time is it break) and had a wait I wasn't expecting this moment so I'm super confused.
Is it for the biometrics? It'll says something about bla bla to get biometrics taken and then it'll list what to bring, normally the notice itself and the green card. That's all. You don't need to be there.
DOES BEING BLACKLISTED IN A COUNTRY FOR OVERSTAY AFFECT MY CHANCES OF GETTING US STUDENT VISAS (F1 & F2)
in Student & Exchange Visitor Visas

Apart from what's already been stated, are you sure the F1 is the correct visa for you? F1 is a non-immigrant visa and as part of the application you will need to demonstrate that you intent to return to your home country after completion of your studies. Based on your desire to remain and practice medicine in the US, I expect that you would have a hard time demonstrating this. You may want to look into the J1 visiting-scholar program instead.
