  1. Hey Guys.

After swearing in. Do you guys report to your recruiter weekly for weekly drill

I don't really go in weekly, I only make sure I check in with the recruiter sometimes through phone. More so, I was told I need to do the 1-1-1 PT assessment to know where I'm at. I did that and I passed it the first time so I was told It's not mandatory to be joining them for PT. I do PT personally every week and I've done the whole 2-2-2 a couple of times with other future soldiers that are shipping out in a a couple of days. And sometimes, the soldiers at the recruiting invite me to join them for PT. So your recruiter will tell you how often you need to be checking in, whether in person or via phone and when you need to show up for PT.

  2. MEPS went well... Very busy day. Enjoyed it though.

I only failed one out of the color vision test...

Weight was 1lbs above the required weight limit but I was fine though.

Did my swearing in after the whole process...

Happy to be joining the force.

    Leaving for basic training September.

    Thanks guys

    Congrats!

    Congrats bro.

Yes I did pass the colour vision exam...

    cool, you'll be fine bro.
  4. Thanks people, I had a consultation with an Immigration attorney today and he said since we did not know about the child while submitting the paperwork and the child was registered after I was already a resident, then it will not be seen as a "material misrepresentation" and I can include him on my N-400. All I need is go to my interview with a copy of the birth certificate. That having him on the N-400 will make it easier if I plan on bringing him to the US in the future.

    Thank you

  5. Kool... I'll update you how it goes tomorrow.

What do you think about changing MOS. Really want Information Technologist... But couldn't get it cos if the secret clearance thats for only citizens.

I got 15Y though which is Aircraft Avionics Systems Repairer.... It's also Kool though. But I prefer the Information Technologist....

So plz... Do you have an idea of CHANGING MOS?

I think you can still change your MOS if what you have is a temporary reservation. You can change your MOS when the permanent reservation is taking place while you are with the counselor coz the mos on your permanent reservation is what will be on your contract. But changing MOS after you must have signed your contract (reclassification), that I know nothing about at least for now.
  6. Thanks Bro. So what's the physicals going to be like?

Not really a big deal but involves lots of waiting. Involves hearing and vision test, your vitals, they'll draw blood and you'll pee. Then you'll see the meps medical officer for an interview, he'll ask you to cough while observing your genital. Then you'll be in a room with other applicants strip down to your underwear and you'll do some physical activities while the doctor observe. If you complete the medical, and doesn't have any issue, the doctor will recommend you for military service and you'll be done with medical. That's when will see your liason and be enlisted and be sworn in. Good luck

  7. Hey guys...Nice to be here at VJ again.

Got 19Y starting from E3 cos I did an evaluation of my OND from Naija and the equivalent is Associate Degree.

Going to MEPS Tuesday/Wednesday this week for my physicals and if everything goes well... I'll be going to basic training by September.

What's up with this new waiting 6months before going to basic training for green cards holders?

Nice one bro, you got your temporary reservation before physical that's good.

The 6 months they say is for government to be able to do a thorough background check on non-citzens, green card or through mavni. I was initially scheduled to ship by June but was pushed back to august.

Going to MEPS tomorrow...I hope all goes well..

    Good luck bro

  8. Maybe also include a cover letter stating that you have only recently been informed and have had it confirmed via DNA that you have a child and then include name and dob.

Thank you. I will get those and present them during the Naturalization interview if there will be any because I was only told I need to submit just the N400 and N426 since I'm naturalizing based on military service.

    Thanks again

  9. Hi,
I am a US permanent resident and a future soldier scheduled to ship to basic training soon. My recruiter gave me the N-400 and N-426 to be filled out and submitted at the reception before starting my training so I can be naturalized at basic but I have some questions and concern.

I am married and I have two step daughters from my wife's previous marriage. I have just recently found out that I have son from my ex-girlfriend in my foreign country, we were together for a while back in my country before she left me for another guy so I never knew about him until recently a DNA test showed that I am the true father and my wife now knows about him. The child was born May 2014 and I married my wife May 2015.

My concern is, while submitting my paperwork for Adjustment of Status by July 2015, we never mentioned about him because we never knew he existed. We called USCIS about this to see if the I-130 could still be updated if we submitted paperworks to proof that we did not conceal this on purpose but we never knew about him until now but they said that can no longer be done.

Now my question is can I include him on the N-400 even though we did not include him on my I-485 my wife's I-130. Later if we are able to bring him to the states, can I still add him as my dependent and enroll him in DEERS even though he was already born even before I enlisted.
    Thank you

  10. Ahmed waiting to go in for my interview for green card soon, just trying to gather info on what result would be required, am enlisting into the navy as soon as I get my GC.

Great! I wish you luck in your interview. My GC has arrived and I've started the enlistment process into texas army national guard. Good luck

  11. OK, so apparently after first card produced, someone looked and noticed a misspelling or something, so didn't mail it to you.

Pretty unusual because seems that they never double check anything before sending it out.

    Anyway, sorry about the delay.

Let us know when you do actually receive the card.

Thanks alot, my status has just been updated to 'card has been mailed to you'. Now I'm just waiting for the other update that card has been picked up by usps so I can note the tracking number. Thanks
