This is not what mine looked like. I live in Ontario and just obtained an OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) criminal records check. I believe that you only need the RCMP one with the fingerprints if you have any past criminal convictions. I'm not sure what province you are coming from though and if you can obtain a check from them.
I told the lady that it was for my US Visa and she said that this was correct?i live in Ontario. I mean I sent it in with the documents for the IV packet so I assume that its fine because they didnt say anything or send me a checklist back.

hi all..
I have a question plz.
at travel.state.gov, it states that the passport must have at least 6 months validity when u have the interview.
My passport will not have this validity time, should i get a new passport now??
the thing that worry me that i put my passport number in everything DS260 aso... now the new passport will have a new number.. Will this be Okay??
Thanks alot
I would call the NVC and ask them. Better to be safe.....if you have already submitted DS-260 then you can update it but it mgiht cause a delay - either way there will be... or better yet - apply for a new passport but tell them that you want the old passport back...take your old and new passport. But Call NVC and explain the situation.

Zirq,
Speaking of delays did you have any trouble registering your immigrant interview appointment on usvisainfo website? for courier service? I am not too sure if this applies to us but as far as how I understand specific instructions for Montreal Embassy it needs to be registered prior to interview date. I tried doing it, however, it said "not ready for an appointment". I am going to try again tomorrow maybe system is still loading/updating
Based on CEAC website our case is still "at NVC" so maybe that's the reason either that or I am completely clueless of what's needed to be done
Hey I actually did it yesterday registered for loomis once you put the details in from the ds260 your appt comes up then print off the confirmation

Quick question for the Canadians....is this what the police certificate for Canada should look like? Just want reassurance I have the right one!
http://www.eslteacherrecruiter.com/canada-rcmp-criminal-record-check/ - this isn't me by the way!

LOL my POE should be pretty quick too.... I'm downsizing drastically!!
One thing to research is if you are bringing your own car across.... there is a certain procedure/paperwork for importing your car (but I've not done all my homework on that one yet)
Yeh its mainly clothes...which I am not parting with!!
I don't have a car so the car we are taking is my husbands car.

By land is fine..... I plan on going through Detroit (probably the tunnel).... depending on how much you're bringing with you at the time (moving all your stuff too?) it is a nice gesture to call them ahead of time - ask about when a good time of day to go would be and such.... you don't want to be crossing through rush hour! LOL
A family member that works for Canadian Customs told me they appreciate the heads up so they have staff on hand and can get you through faster....
Thanks Christina for the heads up m husband was saying that maybe we should call in advance! Will definitely do that...yes my whole life in about 5-6 suitcases! lol oh well that would be interesting.

question does entry into US once the visa has been approved have to be via Air? My husband and I were planning to go via Peace Bridge and do a bit of a road trip.

Point #2 is specifically for Canadians. They want the document that qualifies you to be eligible to be interviewed in Canada. If you were born in Canada, this is your birth certificate. If you are a Canadian citizen, this is your passport. If you have another type of visa (other than a visitor's visa) that allows you to have residence in Canada, then this is your residency visa.
It does sound like a lot of duplication, but if you are NOT Canadian-born, or a Canadian citizen, then you need to provide your residency visa as your "eligibility document".

Thanks Sukie! I wasn't born in Canada but have dual nationality so have my Canadian Passport.

OMG!! Woohoo!!! That is great news!!! Congrats
If you don't mind, which doc did you book with?
I booked with Dr Randall T Lee, in scarborough...he is closest to me. And the receptionist was super nice.

Hello everybody, ive been following and learning as much as i can by doing hours of searching and reading but my head is spinning with all the info ive gathered! Not sure if i should be posting here but I still have a couple of questions i was hoping somebody out there could clarify for me. Our interview is scheduled in Montreal on June16, ill post what i know and then ask what im confused about.
Ok, so here we go...
1. I know I-864 originals+copies are needed from me and my joint sponsor. Im confused if originals means signed in ink by joint sponsor. Do they have to mail the actual paper version to me since they are located in the US and im living abroad with my wife in Canada?
2. I know the Interview letter requests items specific to our case, original birth cert, mariage cert, police cert, passpot ect. What i dont know is that it also asks for eligibility document but passport and birth cert has been listed separately so what could it be?!?
3. I know that 2014 tax transcripts are needed at interview since we are past the April15 deadline but i am living abroad and and that automatically allows a 2 month extention correct? On top of that, i have also just mailed IRS tax extention form 4868 in the hopes that it will be received and recorded online that i have asked for an extention. What i dont know is will my wife be ok to bring in tax transcript to interview showing extention in the case that it reflects online before June16? Or in the case that it doesnt reflect the extention what other option do i have?
4. i know i have 2 options when i get around to filing my 2014 taxes, MFJ or MFS. My plan is to file MFS so that i dont have to list worldwide income due to lack of time and mail paper copy to IRS with spouse SSN listed as NRA and then amend return once my wife gets actual SSN (God Willing). What i don't know is will that work?
AAAAAAAAAGH! Like i said my head is spinning and i feel like im stubling to the finish line. Somebody please point me in the right direction!
Hey AC SQRD -- I just received my confirmation of my interview today and your point 2 is exactly what I was confused about it - about the eligibility doc?! it says bring original but not exactly sure what that is...so any VJ'ers if you can clarify that would be awesome.
Woke up this morning with an email waiting for us to be opened!!!! It's Packet 4!!!!! wohoooooooo!!!!! Our interview date will be on June 18th, 8:30 am. Called Dr's office and booked the medical exam appointment. So excited!! God is good!!
CC: May 7th
Congrats! mine is the 17th June!! we would have just missed each other!Good luck I haven't received the package - just the email confirmation with instructions.
-
so I took a chance and called this morning...... no interview scheduled yet....
Snap so did I.....and then after getting booted off like 10 times!!! My husband messaged me to say that they have scheduled my interview for June 17th!!!! I am ecstatic ...... then I checked my email and was like woohoo!!
First thing I did was book my medical luckily she had a spot open on May 27th so booked it straight away...I don't want any further delayS!
I am sure you will hear either by end of this week or next week ChristinaG!!
-
they're open another 59 minutes
LOL
Best wishes!!!!!!!!!!!
you literally read my mind....I did...but the lines are busy and I got booted off...I sign that I must sleep...will call first thing! will let you know how I get on...if i get a date....you call too !!!
-
LOL
Have you tried calling the NVC to ask about your date? My guess is you should get it this week
no I was just thinking after reading Cortado's post that Maybe I should call..... man i am not getting a wink of sleep!
-
After reading and responding to this thread, I decided to give the NVC a call and found out we have an interview for June 23! No email notification yet, but the operator said it shouldn't be too long.
nice Cortado..I was speaking to my husband today actually wondering whether I should call NVC coz I am that damn anxious to know if I made it into the June Interview Line!! which if you have been scheduled then maybe mine will be towards the end of June.... I got my CC a week after you.... here is hoping for the best.
-
Way to go Zirq!!
I just got my final CC today!! Woot!!
From what I've seen... Montreal typically schedules at the beginning of the month and near the end of the third week if there's still space......
There is a teeny tiny sliver of a chance we may get something, but realistically we should hear something beginning of June
Thanks Christina - I am just so anxious!! Want it done already. Not long to go now I guess...We have been patient this long..whats a few more weeks eh? lol
-
anyone know how long montreal takes to schedule an interview after case complete?
-
Hi Guys
