ohhh got it! sorry about that...i thought you meant to book the flight for your fiance to come here haha
yeah, definitely ask in that specific forum about packet 3. my packet 3 was just an email filled with instructions that didn't require any action...but i had emailed the embassy previous to that and they told me i had to wait until i get that email before i can do anything...but every embassy is different.
i think that's pretty much it: at nvc, in transit, ready, then i think there's one for AP (the time between approval and actually issuing the visa-some people only have this status for a few minutes, where others may have this for hours, days, weeks, months...depending on if additional info is needed etc). then finally, issued.
keep us posted!
I'm the USC, the flight would be to Ecuador so that I can attend the interview. We'll schedule a pair of flights once we're approved.
Guayaquil, Ecuador is one of those "special" embassies which have historically semi-required the USC to be present at the interview.
I'm not sure Guayaquil even has a Packet 3 hardcopy, but I'll ask some folks from Ecuador here and see if they actually needed to get a packet
What are the status states as displayed by CEAC?
* At NVC
* Ready
* Issues
I wonder what other states are displayed.

my own personal opinion: I wouldn't recommend scheduling anything until the visa is in your hand. there's still so many things that can happen at this point.
When the embassy first changes your status to "received" it doesn't even mean they actually received your case. they are first sent an electronic version of your case, which causes them to change it to "received" it could still take a couple weeks from that point until the correct department actually receives the hard copy of your case. then another week or two before they process it/send out packet 3 (depending on your embassy of course). then you don't know what days are available for your interview. on top of that, the visa issuance can take longer sometimes even if approved (if it goes into AP, if they need more information from you etc).
Of course, you do what's best for you...but in my opinion it's too risky to book anything this early. Best of luck!
Who remembers the I-129F receipt number game? apparently you can do the same with the NVC case number. The format is EEE YYYY DDD SSS
Where EEE is the embassy, YYYY is the year, DDD is the number of days since Jan. 1 plus 500 (for example, today would be 711?); finally, SSS is the sequence number for a given day
What sorts of statuses display on the for K1 NVC case numbers? apparently many of these cases are actually I-130 applications for CR/IR visa, and they all show 'At NVC'. Right now our number doesn't even turn up for the search (was assigned yesterday).
I'm hoping to schedule my flight once the consulate receives the case.

my "package 3" was an email and all it said was "we received your packet...here's instructions on how to schedule the interview" lol i didn't have to do anything with it, and brazil does not have a packet 4
I'm not sure if your embassy does a packet 3 email or actually mails you something. most likely you can't do anything until you receive that...but it really depends on your embassy. some embassys allow applicants to schedule their interview before they receive packet 3, some embassys require a response to packet 3 before you can schedule it, and some (like brazil) just want you to wait til you get the confirmation that they received the hard copy of it, then you can go right on and schedule it.
you might want to ask in the forum on here specific for your country...but definitely start gathering everything you need in the meantime! it'll make everything much easier when you can finally move on to the next steps!
good luck!
Thanks! According to CEAC, they have updated our case on the 22nd July, so I hope I will get the package 3 soon... I cannot do anything without getting it by mail, right? Just collecting the certificates, docs etc. they might need...

no...it has to be signed and dated. there needs to be a letter from both of you, both signed with original signatures and dated. you will likely get an RFE for not having a signature on it.
my fiancee intent just printed the intent to marry letter he just put only his name on it , is that okay even he doesnt put signature??

wow! i can not even imagine going through something like this! she must have been so scared!! but she absolutely did the right thing by handing over her stuff without a struggle, because who knows what else those animals are capable of!! i'm so happy to hear that she is ok (as ok as she can be after going through something like this). and also glad to know that this wont cause too much of a delay in your process.
not to be nosey or anything...but does Aileen have a debit card? have you considered doing some type of paypal transaction instead of wiring the money to her? maybe that might be a little safer.
either way, i hope the rest of your journey goes smoothly. please keep us updated!!
Here's an update of Aileen's armed robbery. She is home now from the hospital and really only suffered a bruised leg. When the gunman (there were 3 total) shot the lady not willing to give up her necklace and bracelet she quickly handed her bag over and ran out the back of the jeepney. She lost her footing and fell down and someone behind her was in a hurry too and stepped on her leg. There has been no reported news from the police if they know the criminals or if they will be able to capture them. I don't see any chance of recovering the stolen goods. Everything was in Aileen's bag except her birth certificate. She pretty much can't do anything without her passport because everything requires 2 forms of ID so that has to be the first thing to get which will take 3 weeks. Then with the passport she can get her security clearance again and proof of singleness. So now it looks like her interview will be delay by a month. That really sucks. But I'm thankful she is alive. That's what really matters.

awesome!!
that depends on the embassy. for example: Brazil...as long as it's in English or Portuguese, they don't require it to be translated. if you can find a copy of your country's packet 3, it should tell you there if it's required.
Finally, we got our case # and NVC alrerady sent it to the Hungarian Embassy:-) Our case is in ready staus:-))) One more question: do I need to translate officially the Police Certificate into English? Thanks!

wooooooooohoooo! finally! it's probably that electronic submission i told you abou the other day. it's probably sitting in the office right now "scanned in" but hasn't been directed to the correct department etc. you'll get an email or packet 3 (however your embassy does it) once they receive it in the correct department!! yayyy!
Called NVC yesterday and was told that my file was sent to the embassy. I checked CEAC case status a few hours ago and it's now showing "Ready". Does that mean it's been received by the embassy or is that just the last status given by the NVC to state that the file has been sent?? In either case, things are progressing really quickly, I need to finish wrapping up all the paper work on my end.. AHHH!! Nonetheless exciting times!!

congrats!
p.s. i can't believe VJ blocked out the word...c r a p LOL
happy friday! have a lovely weekend, everyone!
Yesterday was the 2 week point after receiving NOA2, so I called NVC for the first time this morning. I had to redial 3 times once I figured out how their automated message worked. I was on hold about 25 minutes and got my case number! They said it would be shipped to the consulate shortly. Seems like it went from a lot of waiting to, oh #######, what do I do next!
-
congrats!
Hello helpful community of VJ. I'm so happy to tell you guys that my fiancee had her interview on 7/22/15 (philippine time) and she got approved. I would like to share the questions that they asked her during the interview for your future reference. I would also like to say thank you to everyone. Thank you for the words of encouragement. As we all know, being away w/ our love ones is hard but just think of the bright side, we're almost there.
You made this process easier for everyone. Thank you everyone in VJ community!
Questions:
1. How did you guys meet?
2. When did your Fiance migrated to the US?
3. How long have you been together?
4. What does he do for a living and where does he live?
5. **Consul asked to see some photos
Those are the questions that my fiancee encountered. They didn't ask for the affidavit of support, recent pay stubs, certificate of employment, 1040.( but i would recommend for you guys to bring those just in case. Since every case is different.). She told me that her interview lasted for about less than 10 minutes. I hope all my April filers will be with their love ones soon. I wish everyone the best!! Good luck!
Once again, thank you so much VJ! <3

oh my goodness! mark i am SO sorry to read this terrible news!! but so happy to hear that she is ok!! that's the most important thing. songs like she's had a rough fin lately but I'm sure she is so grateful to have your love and support through everything. i hope the rest of your journey goes much better than this and that she's able to recover her items quickly. please keep us posted.
Well, got woken up 4 am with some tragic news. My fiance was on the way to BPI bank to pay the visa application and her jeepney was hijacked. She has a small wound but one of the passengers was shot and killed. I think it was a set up from the Xoom office where I wired her money. Since she also needed money for her K-2 plus medical she had $1000 on her. Even if she took a taxi they probably would have hijacked that too. I am thankful she was not seriously hurt. The worst part is they took her cell phone and IDs. Money can be wired easily but getting a new passport will take a month at least. That is the real tragedy...she will have to wait much longer for us to reunite again. She has gone through so many hardships the last few months with her ill mother and losing her baby that it is a wonder she has not given up. I think our love for each other is what's holding her together. I'm thankful for my VJ friends that support and help me through this difficult journey.

ok cool. that's what i figured but i just wanted to make sure!
I'll definitely let you know! but just so you know...i already registered for the website to schedule the interview and i chose the "pay in cash" option...thinking that would be an option to pay the day of the interview...but when you choose that option, it actually generates a piece of paper that gives you a date (like 5 days later) that you have to pay a fee of 680 reais. i can't really read it because it's on Portuguese but i think you have to bring it somewhere. if not the slip will expire and you have either print another slip or pay with credit card.
I'm not actually scheduling the interview til next Thursday though, so my slip will expire by then and I'll pay with my credit card instead
I think as long as it is paid, it's alright. Send him the receipt or any proof for the payment made.
(Could you please tell me that payment methods available? I saved dollars in cash to pay for it, but now I'm not sure if I have to pay them in reais - thanks!)
Good luck!
-
quick question: for those that have scheduled the interviews online with the new system...the "pay online" option can be paid with the American petitioner's credit card, correct? it doesn't have to be paid using a credit card with the finances name on it right? i just didn't know if it will make a difference on the day of the interview if it was paid by me instead of him. thanks!!!
-
oh no! I'm so sorry to hear!! but you have such a great outlook on everything!!! plus, you'll be together! not sure if every embassy does this, but I've read on here that if you email the embassy, it's possible that they'll extend your NOA2. i would think that in circumstances like this they would have to!! good luck and keep us posted!!
Another update on our interview dilemma...
After the embassy hung up on my fiancé, I tried calling the English-speaking call center instead. I explained to them that there are ZERO interview dates available online, and this is becoming urgent because our NOA2 expires in late August. They told me that they can't do anything, and they can't tell me if interviews will even be available in August. Apparently the only thing to do is keep checking usvisa-info... which we have done every single day since our CEAC status changed to "ready" 2 months ago.
On the bright side, I leave for France in 20 days and I will be there with my fiancé for the next 5 months. So if we get an interview date, then great! We'll hop on the next train to Paris. If not, and our petition expires... well, we'll have 5 months to figure out where to go from there. Fingers crossed it never comes to that.

as i stated earlier, it's advised to wait on all that. i filled out the ds160 early (before i knew it was advised to wait) so I'm not sure if it's ok or not. as far as the visa fee, at least for brazil, that gets paid when i schedule the interview online, which can't be done until the embassy contacts you. (of course all of this depends on your embassy. it's all country specific. check your country specific forum for exact answers).
Am I wrong but can't you also fill in DS-160 and pay the visa fee already?
-
congrats! Yes, just wait for contact from the embassy. If they do their contact by email, you should hear something within the next few weeks from them once your package gets routed to the correct department ect. They will provide you with the next steps you need to take. For now, just start gathering all the required documentation. good luck!
I just checked my case status in the CEAC website and it says ready! Should I wait for feedback from the embassy? What should we do? Thank you!
-
congrats!
DS-260 (i believe) is later on in the process when you're going through AOS. for right now...you need to fill out the DS-160 (some people say to wait until you receive packet 3 from your embassy to fill it out, however, i filled it out before the embassy even received my stuff. not sure if it matters).
the next fee you'll have to pay is the visa fee of $265. I'm not sure if your embassy has converted to the new online scheduling system, but if they have, then you'll pay the visa fee right online and then schedule your interview (but DO NOT do this until you have received the OK from your embassy).
good luck and let us know if you have any other questions!
YAAAAY we got the case number today!! And they already sent it to the Embassyy yyAAAYYY:-)) It's in transit according to the CEAC site:-) Somewhere I read we need to pay some fee electronically...Is it true? What is the DS-260 form? I olny found something about the I-134 Affidavit of Support form (it's on the visajourney's K1 Guides, but I couldn't find anything about the DS-260)... I am getting excited because it's my turn and I feel I don't know nothing:-D
Keep up the faith! -
yes you absolutely have to wait until you hear from them before you do anything. my case status changed to ready on July 6th and i just heard from the embassy yesterday (14 days).
have you already scheduled your interview? if not, it might be a good idea to hold off on the medical. not sure if you're aware but the visa actually expires 6 months from the date of your medical exam. that's why its not recommended to schedule the exam until you know your interview date because, for example: if you get an interview date 2 months from now but you do your medical exam tomorrow, then you will only have 4 months to use your visa instead of 6.
i would just hold off on packet 3. sometimes it takes a couple weeks to hear from them. i emailed the embassy in Brazil and from their response i recently learned (not sure if it's the same in every country) but when your case status changes to "ready" it actually means that the embassy received an electronic version of your package. they won't email you until they receive the physical version of your package, and route it to the correct department, open and review it etc. your "update date" on the ceac website will change though. mine was ready july 6th, updated july 16th (when they received the physical copy) and updated again july 20th when they emailed me.
good luck!
Hello to every April filers!
I was wondering if anyone could help me with my present situation:
Got my case ready last Monday, July 13th
tracked my package over DHL trick and they signed and received it in the U.S. Embassy last Wednesday morning.
Been a week since CEAC website shows that I am "READY" to schedule for further steps, but until now I still haven't get anything yet, either my fiancé.
The embassy website (http://argentina.use...-documents.html) has an example of packet 3 to download, and I already have it almost putted together, only missing the medicals exams which I'm doing tomorrow, and DHL registration (that I haven't finished yet, caused by I haven't any information of date that the embassy scheduled for me).
My question is: Can I send the package to the Embassy before receiving instructions from them, after my case status is "READY"? or Should I wait until get anything from them?
I have been e-mailed them three times (since around 15 days ago) and still haven't heard anything back but their automatic response.
If it is recommended to send the package 3 before getting anything from them, should I just leave the DHL registration as missing until I get a date scheduled by them, and take that to the interview when it is the date?
Thanks a lot!

thank you!! i'm super excited! i will definitely keep you all posted!
wow, i'm so sorry!! i'm surprised still nothing for you!! it's been almost a month huh?? got my fingers, toes and eyes crossed for all of you still waiting at this point!!
Congrats!! Moving along nicely!! I wish I had that problem haha! Keep us in the loop as to when you are able to schedule it and the dates you have available. I pray things continue to go smoothly! I am still waiting to hear that my case arrived at the NVC. Just got off the phone with them and still nothing. I pray that this week sometime the petition arrives and then gets forwarded to MTV quickly!!

woooooooooohooooooooooooooo just got the email from the Embassy! What I'm assuming is "packet 3" but it doesn't ask me to email anything back to them? It just tells me to go online and schedule the interview, and the things my fiance will have to bring the day of the interview. WOOHOO! too bad i can't schedule it til i get paid on the 30th because i just had to finish paying off my car a few days ago and i'm broke! hahahaaaa
but I'm happy just to know that i'm ABLE to schedule it now with no worries!
HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE!
-
I don't know if this means anything but...I just check the CEAC tracker (not because I was expecting any change, but mainly because I feel like my life is meaningless unless I'm checking the status of something LOL). Anyway...it had a Status Update Date of yesterday July 16th! does that maybeeeeee mean they're getting ready to send us the packet 3 email?????? woohoo!!
-
unfortunately i don't think you can send anything in to "fix" your application one it's been submitted. they have so many thousands of applications sitting there it wouldn't even be possible to match up what you send in, with your original application. you'd have to just wait for your RFE if you get one. good luck!
Thanks for your response... I felt a little better until I noticed I didn't check no on 13d (the part where it asks about having certificate of citizenship). I was born in the US (13a) so I figured it was obvious I never obtained certificate of citizenship or naturalization. I am thinking I should send a new corrected I-129F form with a cover letter that has my case #. Anyone else preemptively do this to avoid an RFE?
-
no worries. i don't have it in front of me right now but i THINK the example here on VJ shows they put "none" in that spot. either way i don't think you'll get an RFE for that.
UGH. Wish I checked this list before we sent our application in. I left most non-applicable spots blank, however the spot where it asked for my fiance's social I put "none", and the spot where it asked for his Alien # we put "none". Anyone else get an RFE for that? Should I send a new I-129F copy just in case? I'm an early March filer and would hate to be delayed for something so minor.
-
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY MYRIE!!!!!!! FINALLYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! so freaking happy for you!!!!!!
:)
RUSH HOUR...YOU HAVEEEEE TO BE NEXT!!!!!!
Holy Sh.
We got a RFE.
LOL YAY it wasn't lost! Awesome.
RUSH HOUR! It's happening!!
The RFE Master List

that's a pretty common RFE. from what I've read on here, i believe they'll just send you a piece of paper to check off the boxes and send back to them.
